Pakistan Lost to South Africa again; the worst thing about the loss is that they were coming on a high from last game, they were in a position of authority and here they were playing like a team who was demoralized and tormented through out the series. Lets hope Pakistan can finish on a high note by winning the last ODI before world cup 2007 and tie the sereis as well.
I may sound like a dreaded record that keeps on playing the same old song but Pakistan problem start at the helm; Openers and there is no solution in sight.
:jhanda: good luck:k:

**Khabar dar kisi nay mujhe kuch bola Ihave 1-1 record
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007
^^ weigh your options, fkhan bhai opened the thread Pakistan all-out 107
Me opening the thread Pakistan had a chance to chase 390’s and they won 1 game too.
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007
Pakistan,s record on this ground played 5, won 0,lost 5(same as last one)
South Africa on this ground played 21,won 16,lost 5
No side other than Australia have even drew a 2- side series against SA in SA(let alone win it),So if Pakistan can draw it, they should still be reasonably satisfied.
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007
^^ nice assessment GA
I hope the players who were rested should play win or loose, this means for opening
yasir and Imran should pair up, Akmal should be rested and Haider In, Inzi should rest and Hafeez should play and Malik will fill in Yousef’s spot, and last but not least, Rao and Sami should play and Asif and Rana should rest. Reason being you have no idea where the reserve players are plus you dont want your key players to get injured just for getting that 1 win.
Yes I know what is the point of all this, idea is simple good rest for your key players and mentally gather your thoughts and enjoy your stay in scenic city and relax.
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007
^ I understand what you are saying but that team won't beat SA in a million years. I would have rested players if SA had already won but the series is still very much alive.
I am all for resting key players ahead of the all-important assignment - the world cup - but I believe that it's just as important that we finish the SA tour strongly. That would give us a tremendous boost ahead of the WC and ahead of our super-eight game against SA.
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007
After creating flat pitches for the first 3 games, SA realized their pace attack is useless on those flat tracks, so they decided to go with a pitch which would help their pace attack considerbly. Also, with the form of Pakistani pacers, excluding Asif, they could bowl on grass and SA would still hammer them all over the park.
This is where Pakistani batsmen struggle. They fail to adopt to the conditions quickly. Having played 3 tests, one 20/20 game, 2 ODI's they should have had an idea about the pitch and its extra bounce and movement. But the batsmen thought they were still playing the first 2 ODI's.
The only change I'd like to see would be Hafeez in for Rehman. I wish we could somehow drop Akmal but he's stuck with us. All we can hope for is that pitches in the WC would be flat so him and Nazir can get us to a good start.

Losing 1-3 would do us absolutely no favours
^agreed. Unfortunately getting routed 3-1 will subject the team to a blow greater than being over worked and stiff but ending with 2-2. A sense of pride for the team will be the key.

Looking at Sami present batting form and seamer friendly pitches, PAK will be better off to play Sami for Rehman. If PAK is not taking Azhar for WC then they should rest Azhar and bring in Rehman or Hafeez for Azhar. Inclusion of Hafeez will allow a line up of:
1. Hafeez (bowl/bat)/Akmal
2. Imran
3. Yasir (Inzi should get rest for his back)
4. Younis
5. Yousaf
6. Malik (bowl/bat)
7. Razzaq (bowl/bat)
8. Haider/Rehman (if Akmal play then PAK should have Rehamn for Hafeez)
9. Sami (bowl)
10. Rana (bowl)
11. Asif (bowl)
Will give 4 seamers in: Asif, Sami, Rana and Razzaq,
Two spinners in: Malik and Rehman or Hafeez, and an energetic captain in Younis, good fielders in Hafeez, Rehman and Malik; and better than Inzi fielder in Yasir. Plus three openers in Imran, Hafeez/Akmal and Yasir to handle new ball.
