Re: Pakistan Vs South Africa: 2ND TEST MATCH (Oct 8-12) @ Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore
im okay with pakistan's performance in this series, it gives me hope since the side/captaincy was so new. bowling was artificially toothless, we needed a third bowler (inzi was forced into the playing 11). In his absence we can have a third bowler in there and still have a pretty solid middle order YK, MY, Malik, Misbah.
Abdul Rehman/Kaneria are both pretty capable but not match winners. We should have them in the wheeling lots of overs role that Mushtaq Ahmed used to play and have shoaib/his replacement supplement Gul and Asif on supportive pitches.
on the down side we let Paul Harris become Shane Warne in the series. We're useless against left armers.
Re: Pakistan Vs South Africa: 2ND TEST MATCH (Oct 8-12) @ Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore
Good performance by Pakistan but I am so pissed off at Saffies and Harris for the negative bowling. Marathon run and excellent bowling my A$$. The guy constant;ly was bowling on one line and that was leg stump and at time 1 feet away from it. I saw that from Anil Kumble but even he continued that for 7-8 overs but this guy did it the whole day. Had it bowled postiviely we could have scored more runs during the pre lunch session when akmal and younis were playing and later as well.
Felt sad for inzy when he smashed his bat inside the dressing room after getting out.. Sure he was heart broken.

^ It is VERY wrong to dub Asif as a mere support bowler. He made his mark against India and SL on these very slow subcontinent pitches. Yes he was disappointing in this series but its a tantamount to his sensational start that this loss of form hit us that hard. Support bowler? Thats REALLY unfair on your part to say that.
Agree with Kaneria bit though.
Saby ok maybe I am being a bit harsh on Asif by calling him a support bowler but believe you me even when he was taking those wickets against India, despite all the hype and what many were making him out to be, I did not think he was or that he could become as great as Imran, the two W's or Actor. Remember that Karachi pitch was helping seam movement (hence pathan had us reeling at 6 down for not many) and his other match-winning performance in SLA was also on a helpful pitch. He just lacks serious pace to trouble decent batsman on decent tracks. He may yet prove me wrong but he needs to get atleast a yard or two quicker in pace IMO in order to be consistently effective on all kinds of pitches.
Re: Pakistan Vs South Africa: 2ND TEST MATCH (Oct 8-12) @ Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore
Asif is not crap, but he does lack the speed to be dangerous on flat tracks. The Karachi test was a green top against India, and Sri Lankan wkts also esp kandy aided seam/swing bowling.
I have seen literally all of Asif's tests to date, and when there is nothing in the strip-he offers really only a containing role.
We need a young out and out fast bowler. Even if slightly wayward.
Kaneria is very average. He buys his wkts rather then deceives good players.

I don't remember anyone saying that.... who was it? or was it just your thought? :D
Some Pakistani fans do boast Pakistan having the best bowling attack in the World. May be some of them on this forum. I suppose you are not one of them and don't you think they have the best attack ?
Re: Pakistan Vs South Africa: 2ND TEST MATCH (Oct 8-12) @ Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore
^ nope, they used to have **one of best **attacks, not "the best" attack when we had Shoaib fit and roaring on one side, Asif on other, followed by Gul and Kaneria (who has lost some tooth) etc.

Now who says that Younis Khan can’t play under pressure?, two fighting hundreds under pressure against a team like South Africa, both in the second innings when the team really needed his runs…that one of them was in a losing cause was not his fault, Younis played his part. :k:
