This kind of loss is not bad, hopefully they will make some adjustments, throw away some nut/bolts and fine tune before its too late.

With Shabbira gone, there is no other option for fast bowlers. Only 3 left:
Asif
Rana
Sami
It must be the curse of Sami, although some gets mad props for his batting today. At one point he was the highest scorer in the innings.

Another spanking............
I think even the likes of Australia may have also struggled to reach the target but certainly they may have come closer and definetely would have shown more determination and fight.
One thing I did enjoy was the brief innings by Mohammed Yousuf - what a player and I have always enjoyed watching him play. Some of the shots were just amazing and he just makes things look so easy and has so much flair in his play. He is one true world class batsman in the present team and would be the only one who would make into the World World X1 amongst the batsmen.
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa -1st ODI- Feb04, 2007
what a ridiculous collapse! particularly after the big India win this is shameful. (I know they have nothing to do with each other...so hold the hate mail)...but still.
Frankly there now seems to be 4 classes in international cricket:
Aus vs SA for "aggressive macho" cricket
ZIM, BD for "no new movies so let's go hit some balls" cricket
Ind , Pak for "let's see who can be most inconsistent and unpredictable and wobbly-footed and crumble under slightest pressure and whiny do-little" cricket
Eng, NZ, SL, WI - Also ran cricket but just 'play' cricket
let me add it seems Pakistan is winning in that quest
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa -1st ODI- Feb04, 2007
Pakistani team is mentally exhusted. I do not think this loss is going to affect them too much, they will be back in the series. The main reason is that our opening pair as bowlers and batsmen are not getting the job done. Also, Shoaib's absence is being felt.
It is not going to be a walk in the park for Saffies, we will hit back but in order to win the series our openers (whoever they are) need to stand on their wickets for more than 8 overs.
Rana is going downhill, he gave away the game against England when Sajjid Mahmood took him for cleaners and now this. He really needs to refocus on how he approaches a game...
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa -1st ODI- Feb04, 2007
Pakistan team will need to play without Shoiab and forget his absence as I don't think he will be regular in the team - simply because he is injury prone and also long term he doesn't have too many good years left in him.
