Pakistan came very close to whiff out a test series victory, but they were denied by class and temperament of Saffies backbone. Riding high on their test victory they recently thrashed Pakistan in 20/20 game. Pakistan will play their first odi on the very ground which they lost their 1st test match of the current tour.
“Chokers” and “Depends what Pakistani teams comes to the green” these are the two label’s that have tagged along with Men in green(South Africa and Pakistan) since 92’. One team has a big-game O fobia of not winning the crunch games when it really matters and Imran Khan’s cornered tigers have a complexion of inconsistency.
Both the team are touted to challenge the mighty Australia, however the gap is so wide that they might get exhausted before reaching there, or will they?
Pakistan think tank face a up hill challenge to keep their squad fit, while tackling how to lift their morale and convert it into a winning formula, however South Africa face another kind of battle; overplaying their aging key players and getting over confidence of recent victories over their south asian vistors.
Goodluck to both the teams, May the best team at that day win :k:

I like to see Nazir open and hope he does well. I have enjoyed watching him play in the past as a can be a very destructive player and can play shots all over the place. If he does well than hopefully there will be no more of the joker Farhat.
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa -1st ODI- Feb04, 2007
according to jang Akmal will be rested , so i am thinking that they might go with Hafeez and Yasir as openers and also inzi said there is tie b/w Abdul Rehman and Afridi.
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa -1st ODI- Feb04, 2007
Just read this @ cricinfo
Pakistan’s batting will revolve around Mohammad Yousuf, whose 627 runs in the last year (at 39.13) makes him the top run-scorer followed by Younis Khan who has 615. Abdul Razzaq is a valuable addition, after missing the Tests, and his contributions in the low**er order puts him at *No.3 in the list, with 455 runs at 37.91.
***this is more O less some shocking, what are the other players (openers) are doing :o
More depressing news… :bummer:
South African pitches have often tested the consistency and skill of batsmen from the subcontinent, and Pakistan haven’t always enjoyed the conditions. In 648 ODIs, their average runs per wicket is close to 30, but in South Africa, it plummets to 23.6.
Re: Pakistan vs South Africa -1st ODI- Feb04, 2007
It might be one of those days where Inzi is set on bowlnig the bowlers in the order he intially planned rather than making any tactical changes. Now that S.A have already made so many runs, it is not going to matter who bowls when. They are just going to hit blindly.
