I have been known as a pessimist here but I will put my money on India for the finals. The reason being that they will go into the match immediately after defeating a super-team like Australia in a very important match and that will have given the players huge confidence boost and self-belief. I know Pak have defeated Australia too in this tournament but its not the same thing. We already saw some of that confidence in the body-language of the Indians after the match.
You are right about India and their confidence however Pakistan also have won 4 back to back games including an Australian side which had Ponting sas well Kiwis who beat India in Super 8.
I don't think any team has a clear edge now except for that fact the obviously the fans are going to support their teams. Whoever is going to hold their nerves and give match winning performance will be the Champion.

need a couple of our batsmen to fire. india has one of the weakest bowling attacks in the tournament. even england got nearly 200 against them so our batsmen have a good chance. the likes of nazir, hafeez, afridi and malik can kill weak bowlers. even younas khan has a great record against india. hopefully couple of these guys will be able to fire which will put pak in strong position.

Seriously I used to take losses in sport esp. to India (be it cricket or hockey although our hockey team was the best in the world then and we rarely lost to India :D) to heart back in the mid 80s when I first started following cricket. I don't any more. I don't feel the same bitterness or shock or whatever you want to call it when we lose against India. Things have changed. Relations with India have improved a lot. Bollywood is everywhere in Pakistan etc.
We have all gotta treat it as a game and have the maturity and decency to applaud the other team if they play better
As long as Pakistan fight till the end and don't surrender like they did against Australia in 1999 Final, I would n't be so disappointed and not depressed for sure. I mean that loss really affected me and my family greatly esp. given all the pre-match hype. I did n't talk to my parents in Pakistan for like 2 weeks. We genuinely believed that Pakistan would beat Australia

1999 pak team was probably one of the strongest teams ever with waseem, shoaib, saqlain and azhar and razzak who used to bowl in the mid 80's. on batting we had saeed anwer, inzi and yoyo had just started his career. and then you had moeen who was one of the most dangerous lower order bastmen. oh to have that team again.

Its not the overall picture you need to look at. The dynamics of WC's are totally different, and here we seem to come undone against India. Be it nerves, pressure, self doubt-or simply that by coincidence*India have outplayed us 5/5 in WC games*...there is a trend.

1999 pak team was probably one of the strongest teams ever with waseem, shoaib, saqlain and azhar and razzak who used to bowl in the mid 80's. on batting we had saeed anwer, inzi and yoyo had just started his career. and then you had moeen who was one of the most dangerous lower order bastmen. oh to have that team again.

History does not matter here guys. Its the current form. India defeated tournament favourites South Africa and then Australia with outstanding performances. Pakistan on the other hand have outplayed aussies, lankans and kiwis. Its pretty even keel and too close to call.
In the end the match is going to be between Pak bowling v Ind Batting, who ever wins THAT contest, thats the key.

But Saby the point is Pakistan should have won that game easily after restricting India to 140 odd. You can't say that we did not make a meal of a modest run chase by twenty-20 standards. We did bottle it big time. It's another matter that Misbah brought us back into the game later. We really should have chased those runs down with ease but we did n't and that is leg break's point and a valid one

One thing is for sure, two best teams are facing each other in the tournament. Add hype and Pakistan India to it. Its going to be one to watch.

sir, Those were some yummy conditions to bowl. We should have won that match yes. But not because indians had only 140 to defend but because we could not score 1 run off last two balls. Indians fought really well, bowled their hearts out in favourable conditions.

Oh yaar dont be too critical we are going to whip them Inshallah. Every one chokes from time to time even the Aussies have choked who I always said are not good enough for 20/20.

pakistan has been winning matches without its potent batting line up firing on all cylinders. says something that pak has gotten to the finals without afridi firing in batting terms. hopefully our batsmen can connect on monday. no other team possesses as many six hitters as pak does.
