Hats off to Pakistan for snatching the initiative back from India. Who would have thought that Pakistan will be in the driving seat today when only yesterday they were 39/6. Well played Pakistan, keep it up and bat India out of the series. :k:

Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
Well, i heard dean jones mentioning during the commentary that no team has won a test match in Karachi batting 2nd when the lead is more than 300 runs.
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
Pak hav to manage to play all day tomorow and let india bat for last two days :insha:
Then match is ours
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
He also added the ‘only one’ bit. Pakistan beat australia by one wicket in 1994 when they chased down 314.
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
^ i think that was 1997
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
yes that’s what will break their back … if we bat til 4pm tomrrow and get a 500+ lead by playing another 65overs and then have some 10 overs at them … hmmmm tasty
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006

Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
^^ :D..
it was that famous, Inzi and Mushy partner ship.. when Healy missed stumping of Warne and it went for four… great match that was… Karachi really is Pakistan’s fortress. with only one loss in 37 match, this is something incredible for Pakistan ![]()
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
This match has a stark resemblence with the one played in Kolkatta 1999. Pakistan were 26-6 in first session and thanks to Moin Khan, they posted 240 odd. Dismissed India around that score. Then Saeed Anwar produced his finest test innings, carried his bat and pakistan went onto win this match.
From 39-6 to 245 thanks to another wicket keeper batsman, dismissing India for around same score and now piling up the runs. We might not even need someone to carry the bat this time but more the better.
Insha'allah victory will be ours.
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
lead of 400+ will be safe, cuz the pitch is becoming easy to bat n india does hav strong batting line up
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
What a turnaround. Indians must be wondering what hit them!
All Pakistan now have to do is bat sensibly ALL DAY tomorrow. It's imperative they last all day tomorrow because firstly the runrate on this wicket has always been above 4 which means they will build the lead upto 500 at least just by batting all day. Secondly it will give our bowlers a good resting period so they are fresh for the assault on the 4th day.
Once the target gets 450+ then victory is pretty much ruled out for the Indians who will be more keen on surviving than scoring.
The stage is set, and it will take some really poor batting for Pakistan to lose the advantage here.
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
if both younis n yousuf get 100s it will be easier for the lower order to blast away indian bowlers boom boom afridi n bam bam kami ![]()
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
315 runs…
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
wow! Pak is actually leading? how did this happen? I go away for a day (actually night here) and all hell breaks loose. Oh well...hopefully India will do our soul searching and learn to focus on cricket and games instead of prince of this and prince of that. and get a decent bowler who knows what attack is.
Whether Pak wins this test or not, they have shown us the world's great and experienced Indian team that attitudes and team work do matter. In the process they have brought in a few development squad people in and gained invaluable eperience for them.
May be the Indian BCCI should engage somebody like McKenzie and outsource everything other than actually playing in the field to Australia. And I wouldn't be against outsourcing the playing part also - outsource it to Pakistan and it will save a ton of money which we can use for more wrangling and best of all we will get their 3rd and 4th substitute bowlers who are great improvements over our so called frontliners. And oh yeah, let all of us shut up about the great Indian batting battery. Regardless of the result in this match, unless there are 4 miraculous centuries in the Indian 2nd Innings, Pak team has outplayed the Indians almost comprehensively.
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
yes, Pakistan MUST play full day as the match has seen only 2 days of play and both teams have been dismissed before full day’s play. If we can manage a full days play for 3rd day that’d mean that 85 overs x ~4 = 340 runs in one day, plus 173 that’d be 513 runs, then they can go berserk on morning of 4th day…
but then the key is surviving one full day… hazaaron khawahishayn aisee ke har khawahish pe dam niklay ![]()
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
they should play till the end of day 4 with a target above 400 and tell india to bat the whole of the 5th day
Re: Pakistan vs India 3rd Test Match @ Karachi Jan 29 - Feb 2 2006
We want to bat India out of the game: Younis
Pakistan captain Younis Khan on Monday said his team had still not taken grip of the third and final Test against India and hoped to bat the visitors out of the game.
"I agree that we are in a good position but we are still not in a winning position. We need to bat, at least, for another day and only then we will be in a situation from where we can dictate terms," Younis, who completed his 1,000 runs against India, told PTI after the second day's play.
Pakistan, who slumped to 0-3 after the first over of the Test, ended the second day's play leading the tourists by 180 runs with eight wickets standing after securing a slender seven-run first innings lead.
Younis was unbeaten on 25 while Mohammad Yousuf was 30 not out.
"The game plan is simple and straight -- we need to build partnerships on the third day. We need to ensure that we don't lose many wickets in the first session.
"Time is not an issue in this Test any more and it is now all about how well we bat in the second innings," Younis said, adding: "We are looking at a score of anything above 350 which is gettable if we bat the entire third day.
Younis said the wicket still had something for the bowlers and it would be unjustified to say that it was turning into a batting paradise. "You bend your back and bowl as straight as possible and this wicket would assist you. Mohammad Asif, Abdul Razzaq and Sourav Ganguly showed that there is still something in the wicket for the seamers.
*"It's unfortunate that instead of praising a high quality batting display by Salman Butt and Imran Farhat, we are saying that the wicket has eased out. *
"The two left-handers ensured that they successfully took off the shine from the ball so that it becomes easy for the later order batsmen." Younis praised his team's gutsy fight back saying the boys had shown their character. **
*"It was a trademark fight back by the Pakistan cricket team. I think we have once again shown the world that there is no better team than Pakistan that performs and fights back hard when the chips are down. *
*"Our performance also indicates that we are no more a one-man team. It doesn't matter to the team if I am not playing or Mohammad Yousuf is not playing or Inzamam-ul-Haq is injured. *
**"We play as a team and try to contribute as much as we can and I can cite the example of Abdul Razzaq and Shoaib Akhtar who extended full support to Kamran Akmal."
