Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

I am sure Rameez was joking.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

I saw him bowling those 2-3 times but Dravid picked them very well. Even commentator were praising Shoib for able to mimmick same grunt with he makes when bolwing 95 mps balls.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

Yes, 1000 runs in India's current innings. Rameez sound so lost when he said this. I immediately backed him up, right then and there. He would have said, "pigs can fly", and it still wouldn't have made a difference.

For the bowlers, they still have Kaneria as an option. Poor guy is just being trashed and whacked all over the park. Finally got frustrated, and hurled an incoming ball at keeper's end, only to add to his frustration level by seeing that ball run down to the fence for four runs on the last ball of third day.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

As per highlights, Shoaib did try slower bowl a lot of time, though everytime Sehwag and Dravid picked it up. Other important point is they were waiting for the bowl to come on the bat, rather than going for it. In such a case slower bowl doesn't help much anyway.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

So since everyone is back to its senses i hope Bowlers from both sides unite and go for a strike in order to get a bowler-friendly pitch which doesn't produce more than 250 runs in a days (or atleast on 1st, 4th and 5th day) at the expense of atleast 7-8 wickets

To all those who were eagerly waiting for this contest: HOW DO U FEEL NOW ????

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

Zero one bhai, when you opened that thread and said that the India Pak series will be boring, you meant because of the frequency of the matches played between the 2 sides. I don't think you antipated this match going into the drain because of the weather.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

Betrayed by the weather (that allowed the over-prepared pitch) and Afridi who didnt do his dancing bit this time around.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

It will be interesting to read media’s comments on Chacha Imran and Sami Mian.

Sami will play in the second test…:dhimpak:

See, that is why I was opting for Razzaq so heavily before the start (which wouldn’t have made a difference anyway, but still, he can bat!)

He could have gotten a century in.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

To conclude… Top notch reply by the Indian openers, now whether they be cocky in the interview or whatever they have a right to brag whatever they do now in interview or field.

Who is to blame? The pitch? No I dont think so you can blame the pitch, everyone know that what kind of pitches are in Pakistan infact in South Asia (Pakistan, India, Srilanka and Bangladesh) and they cannot change no matter what they say about Aussie / English or Saffies pitch produce results…etc

Here are the reasons…
a) The mamoth score by Pakistan in the first innings let them to relax, infact very relaxed.

b) Constant short bowling, if I have to narrow down which kind of deliveries were (1) Short and other one was into the pads.

c) I didnt see any plan in place to get the batsman out (not taking any credit away from Indian openers).

d) When the chances came if any (catche[s]) the Pakistani team was sleeping, leading from front was Inzi

f) Yes you can say that weather was on fault, BCCI changed the schedule…etc, so what, bottom line was the conditions favored the bowlers; cloudy, merky and on/off rain which induce mositure out of the pitch and surface. All in all good conditions for bowlers rather than the batsman. No one noticed that during the Q&A domestic trophy and practice matches A team vs Pakistan 11 ..etc they narrowed down the ball which produce less swing masterly engineered by the our Coach Woolmer to tackle english bowlers.

Simply a passive-agressive approach for nothing. Here I would like to add is that India use “SG” balls indian ball which has a more prominent seam which is good for spinners and bowlers like Mcgrath..etc but atleast they stick to it, whatever happened to “Sialkot Sports Industry”

Why Aussies are good over all because they have the “Never-die Attitude” if they are down and out, the next time you see them on the green they comeback at you and hit you very hard. Pakistan could have capitalize on by employing innovative tactics but well our Captain takes time to wake up from Hibernation. Ramiz and Dino have said it many times how to tackle Dravid and yet we didnt see any changes forget commentators, you can see where Dravid scores and to counter Shewag’s assault I know its tought but they could have done that. Inzi doesnt bother or I should say think unless the team is in danger to loose the match.

Bottom line: Dissapointing captaincy (as if he was just counting minutes, when the game will be over), Bad bowling on Pakistan part, Classic Dravid and as usual good batting by Shewag against Pakistan.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

Stop lambasting the pitch, the PCB, our bowlers. The only thing missing is questioning Woolmer and Inzy. Have you guys lost your minds? Very often test matches end in a draw. Do you think Brian Lara scored 500+ two times on game wickets? Most of you do not know one iota about pitch preparation and how to read a pitch. You do not understand how moisture, overall weather conditions, and climate all serve to affect clay and whether or not cracks appear. Instead, your are crying. Our batsmen scored 600+ and made sure we will not lose. India's batsmen are doing their duty.

Will the other pitches be like this? I doubt it but if so, so what? You guys moan and groan so much, one would think that we are losing. Just chill out, enjoy one more day of play and wait until Saturday. As it is, it is unlikely that most of the Indian batting will get much of a chance to face our bowlers and will have considerable rust to shake off in one week's time. Oh, and welcome to the wonderful world of Test cricket. This is why I think even 50 overs are too much, the fan base is too impatient, 20/20 is around the corner.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

Sehwag key ye jur'rat?!!!!!!!

Thanks to PCB and their dead wicket, sari ba-izzati kharab ho gaye!!!!

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

From the 'Indian Perspective', one big MINUS from this test match would be that AGARKAR & GANGULY are now likely to be included for the 2nd test also.

Agarkar can hide behind the "slow pitch" defence...and Gangs (unless he gets to bat and is dismissed cheaply) will continue to ride on his political support.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

Very good point. But from the post-match statements ,it appears that Indian will give other's battign practice. We may see few retired hurt tomorrow.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

sub kay sub CHAY hain. PCB, ICC, BCCI and weather.

HOW?

When the Ind-Pak games resumed, PCB was in heavy losses due to denial of several gora teams to visit Pak due to terrorism etc. So they decided to go for the series every year in each other’s countries. NAYE FAQEER KO BHEEK KI JALDI. They were not getting any time in FTP for a suitable weather condition to play the third series this year. So they agreed to play in a squeesed in slot of January, knowing all the terrible weather and foggy conditions in beloved Punjab where they held most of the games.

The first match was scheduled for Karachi. Then BCCI had this keera in the tight time table to play a practice match in Lahore (outside Karachi for security reasons as they didn’t want to stay longer in Karachi than a test time). PCB said it will be impossible to move teams from Lahore to Karachi in the time b/w practice match and first test. So they decided to do suicide and decided to play in Lahore in January.

The curator said he didn’t get enough time to dry up the pitch properly, because of extereme cold weather in Lahore.

So PCB should get spanking not only for their stupidity but also on the behalf of BCCI and ICC.

Jai Hind and Jai Pind :k:

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

I don’t remember 6 players scoring centuries in 3 days in those matches (if you take out the time lost due to bad light/rain).

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

One reason why SEHWAG should never be made CAPTAIN.

He hasn't heard about the word - DIPLOMACY.

Says he (as quoted at Cricinfo) :
*
"At least we got seven wickets, they haven't got even one." *

and
*
Pakistan probably didn't want to prepare seaming tracks," he said, "and thought that their bowlers will get us out on flat, hard wickets. But we fought back well and are ready to play on any sort of track. It's not a good wicket for a Test match and if we have to play a drawn series, there is no use coming here. I don't think it will produce a result and tomorrow will be more like batting practice.*

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

Sehwag Pendu Zindabad !!!!!

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

Infact I think Sehwag should be made captain precisely for that reason!! Succesful captains are rarely diplomatic.

eg: Imran, Allan Border :)

I havent seen a lot of Indian players rubbing it in like Sehwag!! But only thing is he should say all this only after talking with his bat - as is the case right now.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

Chacha Wooly speaks “his mind”.

Woolmer calls for sporting pitches

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Jan 15: Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer on Sunday urged country’s cricket authorities to prepare sporting wickets to make the Test matches entertaining and result oriented. Without criticising anyone, Woolmer said that he would not like to place the responsibility on anyone for preparing such a flat track for the first Test.

“A sporting wicket provides equal chances to both batsmen and bowlers to perform and it was also helpful for positive cricket,” remarked Woolmer.

The coach, however, said that the ground staff might not have had appropriate time to prepare the wicket due to bad weather.

He said that if the same weather conditions continued the Test could end in a tame draw.

Only 73 minutes’ play was possible on the third day due to bad light and was hopeful for a sporting wicket in the second Test in Faisalabad.

He said that he would like to advise his bowlers to gain experience from this pitch and force Indian batsmen to commit mistakes.

Woolmer believed his bowlers were capable of doing a good job on this wicket but the weather did not allow them to display their true potential.

He said that Shoaib Akhtar was slightly troubled by a sore ankle but was not serious and he would continue to ball.

Woolmer was all praise for Indian opener Virender Sehwag despite batting under pressure.

“Sehwag is a good opener, particularly his performance against Pakistan is most impressive,” he said.

He was, however, surprised over the decision of Indian captain Rahul Dravid to open the innings.

Re: Pakistan v/s India 1st Test @ Lahore 13 - 17 jan 06

yes u r right but Mr. Sehwag closing in on yet another 300 against Pak … doesn’t it sound familiar to u ??? … why doesn’t the PCB tries to convince Aussies to play us next year under similar condition … and please don’t tell me no one knew what the conditions will be like … we have january and its north eastern part of Punjab, Pakistan (not far away from Kashmir valley) … what kinda average tempratures we had in the last 10 years in this area ???

If u like to host a match in cold-overcast condition then go on and play a day-night match in Sialkot or a Test in Peshwar … a bit of Green would’ve done quite a world of good to this match and we could’ve possibly head for positive result but damn our batters and board seems to brown their trousers when they see a single tinge of green on the pitch … they act like they r playing in Headingly with Temp as low as 12°C and overcast conditions and the ball swings like it’s a leg-break from MacGill …

Allah hee inko hadayt day

I know why i didn’t follow the match sofar and will insha’Allah continue so and wait for a real contest worth watching later in the year when we face Eng in their backyard … oh i forgot to mention yes we’ll have to face the mighty lankans and the pitch will be … u can guess
