Re: Pakistan v Northampton
Salman Butt 78 not out currently........well done!!!!
He may not be one of the best around but he is surely one of the best options we have currently, he has future and enough time to sort out his problems and i am confident that he will work hard to improve his technique.
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
LoL, don't get your hopes up, I'm sure he will fail again.
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
Salman had only 2 4's last night, and now he has 15. Must have scored all his runs in boundries!
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
I am always shocked to see people backing or wanting Taufeeq in the team. Forget the stats, I can't understand how a regular cricket follower can support this guy after ACTUALLY WATCHING HIM BAT.
IN the last few series that he played, he did get a few runs once in a while by sheer luck (sort of like Cook in the first match), but more often than not, his actual observable manner of playing was humorous for a neutral spectator, and torturous for Pakistanis!
Sir Digs, President, A.B.T.A. (Anybody But Taufeeq Association)
The last time Taufeeq scored scored a 50 was 3 years ago in 2003 (no 50 in 7-10 tests)
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
You remember the tour of South Africa...that's rite...shhh!
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
Come on Afridi, he is one of the few openers in recent past who played well.
When was the last time any of out openers scored a century against Australia in Australia???? He scored 70 odd in Melbourne against McGrath, Gillespie, Lee and Warne followed by a hundred and then scored runs (100 and 50's) against very strong English bowling attack too.
I know that was long time ago but at least he has the talent to perform against good bowlers.

Re: Pakistan v Northampton
ehsan yaar you can say whatever you want but you just can't criticise someone day in and day out when you know that you don't have a better option than him.
It's obviously your personal choice but maybe you should list the number of BETTER options we have:)
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
Maybe we don't have better option than him than why persist with him. If mediocrity is our benchmark there are plenty of others who can bat the same way. Making 84 against non recognised bowlers is a far cry from playing against proper bowlers and not giving slip catches. Let him make a 50 in a test match and I will be happy, till than yes I will be critical of his approach.
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
well done pakistan
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
Finally you will be happy after 2nd TEST.
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
I sincerely hope so.
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
I'm pretty sure none of us will be...:D
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
I wouldn't get too excited about this match. The standard of cricket was laughable at best. If anything, the result makes selection even more difficult because it's hard to guage the real value of these performances.
Re: Pakistan v Northampton
Flintoff is out for the whole series against Pakistan, ODI's included.
