Baykaar bowling by our bowlers, except for maybe the beginnig spells by Pindi Express and Sami. The rest were quite ordinary.
Also, I thought the field placement by the Indian captain was superb. Seemed like every hit went straight to the fielder, and the outfiled seemed to get quicker when the Indian team was batting.
ehsan bhai one question !!
Do you think if lots of ppl watch the webcast then the server can go down? i mean how many connection can the server afford?
I didnt tell my friends about the webcast:dixsi: becoz i was afraid the atleast 100 of them would be watching it and i didnt want to clog the server.
so if you say that magical word then i can get you atleast 100 more viewers.
Thanks everyone. We hit 140 people at the last ball! Next match might be members only (or 100+ posts even). As long as ppl add something to GS for the services. As for performance…thats not a worry :-).
The bottom line is India outbatted us, out bowled us and generally were just better in all departments today. I thought they bowled with good discipline early on and our batsmen couldn't break the shackles. 293 was an ok score but when we lost wickets we went into our shells unlike India who carried on attacking even when they were 90-4.
The extras didn't cost us the match, they won with 5 overs to spare anyway. I think it was clear we couldn't bowl effectively with a wet ball once the dew factor came in. They cruised it after that.
Well played to India anyway, deserving winners on the day.
After the disappointment of todays match result, i forgot to add the experience of watching some part of the match in the stadium live.
I reached there in around 37th over of pakistani innings and as pakistani innings exploded in the end, atmosphere got more and more enjoyable. one of the most heart warming scenes was a bunch of students, 20-odd pakistanis and 10-odd indians sitting together and cheering for every bounday scored and every wicket. It didnt matter to them which team scored the bounday or which team got the wickets. It was a great experience. And the amazing sight was the fall of sachin and specially laxmans, we couldnt stop yelling and my throat was still hurting when i came back home. One thing i noticed, there were more indian spectators on the ground than tv could show and they made noises alright but pakistanis always seem to get ahead with the yelling and shouting !!
It was a great experience to be there on historic occassion albeit for 25 overs out of 100. Too bad i didnt take my camera otherwise there were definite scenes to capture :)
Afridi has shown what he is. Just provide him extra loving/caring (possible a massage using some bats) in dressing room during next match and let someone else do the bat-talking.
Bowlers were head-less. If we are providing dead pitch, then why is it so hard for our coach, captain to learn it and change bowlers when we know our medium/pace won’t do the trick
Good job India :k:
Though our scoreboard kept ticking at 4+, but we should’ve known that this rate is really really insufficient. Our 2nd string team had chased 335 successfully on same pitch then why India wouldn’t chase 294? 2 early wickets and we become turtles (overly defensive).

Someone please get rid of Afridi. I know people will say others failed as well but when you play moron shots and get out you put pressure on the incoming players. And as for his bowling, well the less said the better.

Do not agree. Did you see the moron shots by shewag, vvs and ganguly? I will even include yuvraj - i mean where was the need to try and clear the midfielder when all you need is 4 runs an over?? these guys are worse than afridi, who played very well in the 2nd odi.
The way Younis master was playing the halwa balls from Balaji and Kartik, was like he is playing on Day one of a test match or doing net practice. He was having serious problem placing the ball to the boundry fielder even (forget about dispatching behind the rope). Boundry fielders were like laying down with ‘gaao takiya’ and yawning to wait for his weak shots to come into their hands. Man, what kind of player he is! On those malaai flat balls, an Indian would have scored first double century of the ODI’s history. And our chicken was defending as Bret Lee is unleashing his most furious delivery on him. Having said that he secured the one end for a while preventing an early collapse of Pakistan side but hey, HIT IT when you get loose ball phulleez! and hit it Hard
They have devised plans for everyone, even yasir hameed by bowling at him on th elegs because he does not pklay sweep shots and by restricting the off side because thats the one area that he plays so good at.
The only player they havent got a plan for is inzimam and rightly so because the guy is gifted,
We have to do our home work properly for the next match
Err...Karina are you losing it? VVS and Ganguly looked like a million dollars out there but they put their foot on the gas too early, that's all they could be accused of. Have a look at the respective avges of the three Indian players and Afridi if you are in any doubt.
Riz,
yeah I noticed that they clamped Yaasir up pretty good in this game.Good spot. as for us doing our homework for the next match if we can just find out whether we are capable of bowling with a wet ball or not that would be some achievement :)
Considering that we may have to bowl in the dew, meaning spinners not being able to spin properly i feel tat another good batsman should be brought into the team instead of shoaib malik or afrdi,

Can't they just rub it on their pants to get the wet out (of the ball)? Why is that such a big deal?
[/QUOTE]
Ever tried bowling with a wet ball. You can't grip it properly and therfore can't bowl with it effectively.
