Pakistan V India - 3rd ODI

Hameed and Razzaq fashion Pakistan’s win over India](http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/040319/3/2k5l.html)

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AFP) - Pakistan’s Yasir Hameed and Abdul Razzaq combined to lead Pakistan to a four-wicket win over India in the third one-day international here.

Hameed scored 98 as Pakistan overtook India’s 244-8 with 16 deliveries to spare Friday and take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Pakistan, who were themselves struggling at 173-6 in the 35th, prospered through an unbroken stand of 74 for the seventh-wicket between Abdul Razzaq and Moin Khan.

Razzaq followed his 2-44 in India’s innings to remain unbeaten on 53 off 52 balls. Moin made 22 not out.

Lanky seamer Shabbir Ahmed set up the win when he removed three top batsmen, including Sachin Tendulkar, in a hostile opening burst after Pakistan elected to bowl first on a rare seaming wicket.

The win gave Pakistan the psychological edge going into the remaining two games to be played under lights at Lahore’s Gaddafi stadium on Sunday and Wednesday.

Bowlers finally had something to smile about on the greenish wicket, unlike the perfect batting strips laid out for the first two matches that produced more than 300 runs in each innings.

India slipped from 37-3 to 140-6 before Yuvraj Singh cracked a defiant 65 off 76 balls late in the innings to boost the total.

Ramesh Powar (14) and tailenders Irfan Pathan (16) and Laxmipathy Balaji (21 not out) aided the recovery which saw India put on 104 valuable runs for the last three wickets.

The Indians, without four injured frontline bowlers in Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Ajit Agarkar and Ashish Nehra, were well served by young seamer Pathan who finished with 3-58.

Pathan made the early breakthroughs when he bowled opener Shahid Afridi and had Yousuf Youhana caught in the slips to reduce Pakistan to 29-2 in the seventh over.

Younis Khan was unlucky to be run out backing too far at the non-striker’s end and Shoaib Malik was snapped up with the slips off Zaheer Khan.

Hameed and captain Inzamam-ul Haq added 91 for the fifth wicket to make it 156-4 by the 32nd over when India bounced back by removing both batsmen in the space of 17 runs.

Inzamam was unlucky to be given out leg-before by Pakistani umpire Nadeem Ghauri when a googly from Tendulkar hit the batsman on the front foot.

Hameed, who hit 14 delightful boundaries, mistimed a slow ball from Pathan and only managed to give a catch to Yuvraj at point.

Razzaq, lucky to survive a dropped return catch by Tendulkar, and Moin denied India any further breaks to lead their team home.

Shabbir began the match with a 14-ball first over that included six wides and two no-balls, besides the wicket of Tendulkar for zero with his third legitimate delivery.

The Indian master, fresh from a record 37th century in the previous match at at Rawalpindi on Tuesday, hung his bat out to an outswinger and was snapped up by wicket-keeper Moin Khan.

Shabbir forced the dangerous Virender Sehwag to edge a catch to Afridi at gully and then clean bowled Venkatsai Laxman with a delivery that swung in sharply.

Captain Sourav Ganguly and his deputy Rahul Dravid retrieved the situation by adding 68 for the fourth wicket to lift India to 105-3 by the 24th over.

Ganguly hit five boundaries and a six in an aggressive 39 off 41 balls, while Dravid made 33.

Pakistan won despite their bowlers sending down 23 wides and four no-balls.

As far as I am concerned from the viepoint of this dumb Canuck, Indian top bats continue to be absent. Pakistan won the match decisively and the quality of Indian batting bodes horrible tidings for India in this series and future ones to come.

Bravo Pakistan . And hope to see you guys in a test match with Canada's cricket team , just not sure in which century.

Pakistans oberer Auftrag haben gut nicht mit Ausnahme von Hameed
getan. :)

Oh man, it was so depressing seeing Indian batting. what the hell has happened to Ganguly?

well played pakistan, and congrats to everyone here. i think it's time we did what pakistan did - get rid of some oldie stars and bring in new blood! urgh.

Ich sehe kein Problem mit den indischen Batsmen, es bin die
pakistanischen Bowlers - Sie kennen nie in ihnen... aus

Zabardast bhai I dont think there are many German speakers here so can you please stick to angrezi.

^^ Okay...I do not see any problem with the Indian batsmen, it is the Pakistani bowlers - you never know about them...lol

hehe, und thise Indianer wird accpet jener Pakistaner nie ist am besten :jhanda:

  maantay ho :smokin:

Afridi and Shoaib Malik proved that they can slog mainly on dead/batting pitches (Malik couldn’t do anything in NZ). Yasir once again proved his class, anyone to drop him?? I wish he had completed his century.

Good bowling and chasing by Pakistan :jhanda:

Congrats to everyone.

Genau aber ehsan besagtes, gibt es nicht viele deutsche Lautsprecher

aber zu mir, Pakistan sie beibehalten sollte ist Rand... InshAllah... :)

yaar, aap ki kia baat hai, successful prediction ke pooray number 10/10, lekin dobara German boli to 0/10 ho jayen gai

Great performance by Shabbir, Razzaq, Yassir. The young guys came through. For India, Pathan and Balaji were both good. I would'nt be shocked to see Bhandari play in place of Z Khan in the next match. Since his injury the guys has nothing going for him. He is not the same bowler.
The batting was mostly unlucky for us, expecailly Inzi and Yunis Khan. Someone should tell Afridi that Taufiq and Imran Nazir are waiting in the wings. I know it is only one game, but when there are so many good plaers standing by, you can't screw up often.
Let's hope Ganguly can keep his pants on and not make up BS about chucking after this game.

Saby kehtay hain:

Awesome Yasir, dependable Razzaq takes pakistan home

Pakistan managed to win the third match after heroics from Yasir Hameed and an allround performance by Abdul Razzak when needed. After the two high scoring encounters, we finally saw a more even contest between bat and ball with ball moving around earlier in the first innings and takeing turn and staying down in th second innings alongwith some sideways movement and carry.

Inzimam once again won the toss and decided to send india in. Once again eye brows were raised but there was moisture in the pitch alongwith sufficient bounce to justify his decisions and that Shoaib and specially shabbir did. Shabbir was wayward in his first over and failed to controlt he movement of the ball but he stillpicked up Sachin with a beautiful ball. He went on to pick Sehwag and Laxman and effectively broke indian's top order. After the unimpressive come back in raqalpindi it was a great performance. After a 13-ball first over, his analysis were making an awesome. We all rae about Sami and Shoaib but shabbir defintely outperformed them. Shoaib was accurate in his first spell and had two catches dropped off his bowling. Sami was okay in his first spell but got tonked by balaji and yuvraj in his second spell. Razzaq made a comeback of sorts and picked a wicket after a gap of five internationals. His spell was crucial as he picked up Ganguly and dangerous. Nice to see him being economical and effective after a while. Shoaib Malik bowled really well too. He picked up dangerous dravid and powar with some tight bowing in middle overs. In the end overs, Shoaib and sami who usually are very effective in death overs were expensive and pakistan faced a daunting task on a responsive pitch for bowlers.

Our fielding was not all that well in the beginning when atleast three catches were dropped, though they didnt matter much but still at this level inzimam and yasir hameed should be catching those chances.

Afridi played a reckless shot to a gorgeous in swinger from irfan pathan and departed early. Yousuf youhana followed too with another loose shot. But yasir hameed was just awesome with his frontfoot drives square of the wicket. Elegance, timing, excellence all comvined into his innings. He stayed positive despite the loss of early wickets and played remarkably well. He has been the best find for pakistan since the world cup and today he showed why. Too bad for him, he missed another hundred when he throughly derserved one. Younis Khan looked in tremnedous touch with three consecutive boundaries off pathan but got out in the most unfortnate possible. Inzimam played second fiddle to yasir and let him take charge to the indians but when yasir and inzi fell in quick successions, indians were back in the game. But Razzaq, who surely is becoming Pakistan's trump card in such situations responded in the best way possible. Moin, who was out of form thus far in the series, stuck around the way only he can and fought it out for a very useful contribution in the partnership. Razzaq made sure that this match doesnt go down to the wire like previuos two games though it still as a pretty close game and at 173-6 indians might have fancied themselves for a good comeback win but that was not to be and pakistan won with 16 balls to spare.

Indians have a tough task on thier hands to win two back to back matches against pakistan on its home soil and in all probability pakistan should win the series in current form. Only some stupid decisions and irresponsible cricket or some splendid performance from Indian batting stars could prevent them from doing so.

Moderators, the author was in real hurry, you could have fixed the spilling and grammer mistakes. Should I point them out or you would be able to figure them out? If you're gonna dedicated a thread to this, atleast run a spelling check.
