Looking (or pretending to be) dangerous in action is different that the actual danger in fast bowling. Michael Holding, Jeff Thompson, Imran Khan and Wasim Akram used to scare the batsman not only with their style but with the furious deliveries as well. Junaid SHOULD NOT be given chance, not just because he is a sifarshi, but there are 4 talented ‘ghareeb kay bachay’ that have performed far far better than this takloo. There must be a fifth bowler or allrounder in the domestic circuit who has all the weapons to become the next Imran/Wasim. With Sami/Shoieb…and Umar/Shabbir…we are looking good for next 5 years. We simply don’t need Junaid like craps in the team. Najaf Shah is quiet better than all other toppers in domestic.
Same is for Azhar and Razzaq. These two never impressed me and they are not entertainment material either. :yukh:
Why are we criticizing Gen.Tauqeer this much over Junaid Zia? Just relax, take a chill pill and think what if he had 11 sons?
Hameen tu Khuda ka (aur family planning waloon ka) shuker aaga kerna chehyee ![]()
You must have started watching cricket very late (like 2001 or 2002).
So far so good. Pak is playing really well. They just need to remove certain kinks (catching-fielding etc) before the South Africans series goes under way. Ofcourse, if batting and bowling is a bit more consistent, that will be icing on the cake, but then Pakistani team is still Pakistani team. Agar sabb hi chall paray tau hamm Australia jaisay result na day dein! ![]()
Anyway, this Bangladeshi tour must have given a lot of comfort to our batsmen (esp. out of form ones) and gave a bit of much needed match practice to the young and promising bowlers. So all is good. :k:

Cheng…I stopped watching cricket back in 97’ when I left Pakistan. Started when an average Paksitani kid starts.
I have seen many videos of different series …like with Aus/SA/WI/Asia Cup and Sharja Cup. Having said that they filled the gap for some times and did perform in every third or fourth game…but these two kids are not international level cricketers. There must be some good players waiting for their chance in the national team.

Five-wicket Gul leads Pakistan to one-day series win](http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/030915/323/e8hn3.html)
LAHORE, Pakistan (AFP) - Lanky pacer Umer Gul registered a career best 5-17 to help Pakistan take an unassailable 3-0 lead with a 42-run win in the third day-night limited over international at Gaddafi stadium here on Monday.
The 19-year-old Gul destroyed the Bangladesh top order after Inzamam and Yousuf Youhana posted attractive half centuries to guide Pakistan to 257-9 in their allotted 50 overs.
Bangladesh managed 201-9 after their target was revised to 244 in 44 overs under Duckworth-Lewis formula following two interruptions, first of 22 minutes due to short circuit and the second of 33 minutes due to malfunctioning of one of six towers.
This becomes Pakistans 300th win in 564 matches (with 246 defeats, six tied matches and 12 abandoned), second only to world champions Australia who have 322 wins in 544 matches).
Pakistan won the first match at Multan by 137 runs and the second by 74 runs at Faisalabad.
Gul shattered the tourists top order by removing Mohammad Ashraful for nought off the fourth ball of the innings and then had Razin Saleh for 4 and Habibul Bashar for 14 as tourists once again looked jittery while chasing.
Gul returned for his second spell to remove Alok Kapali for 61 and Mashrafe Murtaza to better the 2-25 he took against Zimbabwe in Sharjah earlier this year.
Hanan Sarkar and Alok Kapali put on 95 for the fourth wicket but their slow scoring boosted the required run-rate.
Sarkar, who made 61, completed his maiden half century off 101 balls before he was bowled by Hafeez with Bangladesh needing 107 off 11 overs.
Earlier, Inzamam blasted four sixes and two boundaries during his blazing 54-ball stay at the crease and held the Pakistan innings and provided the needed lift as the home team accumulated 83 runs in the last ten overs.
Bangladesh once again spurned a number of chances as they looked panicky in the field, spoiling the good work by bowlers.
Pacer Tapash Baisya recorded his career best figures of 4-56 and took the wickets of Abdul Razzaq (15) and Kamran Akmal and Junaid Zia, both for nought in the 48th over but Inzamam ensured Pakistan reached a safe total.
Pakistan, opting to bat after winning the toss, lost opener Hafeez in the sixth overs of their innings when Baisya had him caught behind for 2.
Yasir Hameed, who made 116 in the first one-day, and Yousuf Youhana, who made 106 in the second, then helped the home team recover during their 77-run stand for the second wicket.
Yasir became left arm spinner Mohammad Rafiques first of two wickets after making a 66-ball 40 with three boundaries.
Youhana added another 36 with Inzamam in quick time before he missed a straighter one from Mushfiqur Rehman in the 31st over and was bowled.
He made 65 off 74 balls with nine a well timed boundaries.
Razzaq hit two boundaries in his 15 but holed out in the deep off Baisya who erased his previous one-day best of 3-50 recorded against South Africa at Potchefstroom last year.
Pakistan retained the same eleven of the first two matches while Bangladesh brought in Baisya and Sarkar for Hassibul Hossain and Tushar Imran.
The last two matches of the series will be played at Rawalpindi on September 18 and in Karachi on September 21.
However, seeing the bangledeshis get to 200+ is somewhat troubling.
The South Africans wont be that generous.
Goow bowling by Gul…and good batting by Inzamam, Youhana and Hameed. The rest still need to improve :k:
Pakistanis will kick bangali asses!!!
Good job by Umer Gul, deserved the first five-wicket haul.
He’s certainly a promising bowler for Pakistan. Other bowlers had a really bad day, specially Shabbir Ahmed and Shoaib Malik.

Inzi Style - Show No Mercy
hmm…the batting seems to be doing Okay. If the openers failed to score big knocks, then we have, to some extent, a reliable middle order. Good game by Inzamam and Yoyo. Sometimes, I wonder when Younis Khan is going to have his first century in ODI. He’s has been around for 3+ years and still yet to make a century in ODI. I hope he does against South Africa.
Also, I want Pakistan to chase target in the remaining two ODIs. C’mon, chasing is the most weakest point Pakistan team have. We have always choked against big teams while chasing the target. I wish Bangladesh wins the toss in the remaining two matches.

I agree with this...I was also thinking the same thing, I wanna see Pakistan chasing the target and see if they still win as convincingly.
^^ agree !
There were good days when Miandad, Salim Malik and Ijaz (IJAJ as Gavaskar call him) were in the team and chasing was our + point but now anything in 200+ to chase and you can never bet on Pakistan.

Actually chasing was never our plus point. Even when all the above mentioned players were in team we were still not that best of chasers. We have always done better setting targets compared to chasing targets.
Pakistan’s Gul takes inspiration from McGrath
Hailing from a hamlet outside Peshawar, Umar Gul might well have followed in the footsteps of local squash greats Hashim, Jahangir and Jansher Khan who dominated their sport for decades.
Instead, the 19-year-old Gul was inspired by the sight of Australian paceman Glenn McGrath on television and attracted by the folklore of Pakistani cricket.
**“I think McGrath is a great bowler,” Gul told Reuters a day after another fine bowling performance enhanced his reputation as a quick bowler of great potential.
“Pakistan has also produced some great fast bowlers and I am proud to be following in their footsteps but McGrath has always inspired me and I have modelled my action and bowling on him.”**
The tall, well-built swing bowler destroyed Bangladesh in the third one-day international in Lahore on Monday with career-best figures of five for 17.
“There was bounce in the pitch and some movement. I got my outswinger going and I enjoyed bowling against them,” he said.
CONSISTENT LINE
Gul had played just nine first-class matches when the Pakistan selectors decided to entrust him with the new ball in the wake of their decision to sideline Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis after a disappointing World Cup earlier this year.
Gul’s figures of 15 wickets in 10 one-day matches and 15 in three tests might not have set the world on fire but his return of 51 wickets in nine first-class matches prompted the selectors to try him out.
Bangladesh captain Khaled Mahmud said after Gul’s demolition act on Monday that he had caused problems for the batsmen because he was very consistent with his line – a trademark of the Australian fast bowler.
**“Yes, I try to be consistent. I know that if I keep on bowling in the corridor on or around the off-stump the batsman will make a mistake,” Gul said. **
**“I have learnt a lot from watching McGrath on television,” he added. “He is so consistent and smooth. Our coach Javed Miandad has also been working with me on improving my accuracy and pace by making me bowl at one mark.” **
Pakistan has produced fast bowlers such as Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami, all with great pace and the ability to reverse swing the ball.
Gul is different. Lacking raw pace, he relies heavily on accuracy and consistency to unnerve batsmen.
GREAT FUTURE
Miandad believes Gul is destined for a great future.
“He works very hard on his cricket and fitness. He is improving every day. Pakistan, I think, have found an excellent pace bowler to back up Shoaib and Sami,” Miandad said.
Gul knows his real test will come against the South Africans in the forthcoming series and he said he was prepared for them.
“I will bowl to them as McGrath would,” he said.
South Africa are due to arrive in Pakistan next Monday to play three tests and three one-day internationals.
Gul said that with Shoaib and Sami back he would find it easier to fit in as a stock bowler against South Africa.
“I am confident that I can now find a permanent place in the Pakistan team,” he said.
Is Sami or Shoib playing in 4th ODI? Without them our bowling attack is very weak.

how can you say that? we have Junaid Zia, we don't need Sami or Shoaib.
Gul is a good bowler. I think his style is very original for a Pakistani bowler. It is good to have some variety in the attack.
Chasing is good but against BD you might not have much of a game if they are all out in say 130 or 140.
But if you bat first against them, then score at least >300, like we did in the first game. I really hope this looser Junaid gets the bench today. Also Hafeez is bothering me, is so ineffective during ODI's. Bring back Imran Nazir or play Saeed.
