is this first match for Inzamam as Cap. ?
I missed Junaid’s bowling but if what ehsan says is true, then there’s some weird selection decisions being made. Yasir Ali looked like a very ordinairy bowler and apart from being Genral Sahib’s son, looks like Zia’s got nothing going for him either. What a total disgrace ![]()

nopes, he has captained pakistan iin two onedayers and one test previuosly. Lost the test match but so far his oneday record is 100 percent.
9 down. BD should have played better as they did in tests.
Sofar much for finishing off the tail
Current Partnership: 26 runs, 6.1 overs, RR: 4.22
I saw Junaid bowl a couple of expensive overs finally. He's strong and maybe slightly quicker than Razzaq but on evidence of this match his control is lacking. Really these sort of decisions need to be taken more carefully - if your Pa is head of the PCB then your claim to a place in the side needs to be above suspicion....and Junaid looks like he needs to learn some basic disipline in first class cricket and EARN his right to a place in this team.

forgot to wear my pak top to college 2day! ![]()
I really like the batting order and lineup now... Imagine Shoaib and Sami coming back, that would leave Omer and Shabbir fighting for a plce but More importantly, against SA we will have a more stable look to the batting order with Shoaib Malik coming at 6... Yasir HAmeed should be allowed to open and Youhana did the right thing by coming at number 3. He is our best bet at that spot. and that was necessery to accomodate inzimam and shoaib malik both in the team.
Hafeez
Yasir
Youhana
Inzimam
Younis
Malik
Rashid
Razzaq
Shoaib
Sami
Omer/Shabbir
^^ Thats a pretty stable batting order in my view :) Insha'allah this combination will do wonders for us in coming series

That’s what a like GS for … even in very serious situations someone can bring a smile on your face
137 run victory. Bengladesh scored 186 in 43.2 overs, not bad for them their highest scorer was tailender… Means we need to further improve our bowling, but I guess as soon as Shoaib and Sami come back we’ll be in good shape as our batting line seems to be picking up their form :k: congrats to everyone.
Congratulations to Pakistan and BD is back on track with their Natural game :)
Hope they will perform in remaining of the matches as they did in test matches.
I really have a good feeling for this team. Nice to see Younis, Razzaq yousuf and Inzi back in the squad. Hafeez , Shaoib Malik and Yasir look very promising :k:. Hafeez needs to get little more consistent in his batting but from what I heard he is a great fielder and an awesome part time spinnner.Overall a great contributer like Shoaib Malik. I see a mix of a young real talented and senior players. With the inclusion of Shoaib Akhtar and Sami we will be back to our full strength and give a SA a hell of a time.
I don’t see Gul and Shabbir as a strike bowlers but will play a great supporting role after Shoaib and Sami.I personally think Gul is more suited for ODIs. He can keep the batsmen in check with his tight line and length.

i really hope u r right .... because of what i've seen partly of SA vs. ENG it'll be a tough time especially for our pace bowlers ..... Smith, Gibbs and McKenzie aren't the best players against spin but then i'm talking about quality spin ...... sort of Mushi
Junaid Zia is on the light side...should he be given a chance in the next match? I myself not in much favor.
I hate to pop your bubbles but I remember how Pakistan destroyed Zimbabwe not so long ago and went to be humiliated by the South Africans couple weeks later in both tests and one dayers.
In order for Pakistan to succeed against the Proteas, they need to find the right combinition to win. Experimenting against Bangladesh is permitted but against South Africa it would be a huge blow out.
Yasir has done well, just like any other Pakistani batsmen on its debut, (Nazir, M Wasim, Wasti, Afridi, Mahmood) they all scored tons but very quickily faded away and started performing inconsistently.
Hafeez has done well with the bat and ball, him and Shoaib Malik can combine to equal one fulltime bowler, that would definitly solve our problems for finding a spinner for the one dayers, in test we still need a specialist spinner.
These days its very hard for the team to depend on Razzaq to bowl out all 10 overs, he is too expensive, unlike his old days when his economy rate was 3.5ish and took a wicket or 2.
I hate to say this but it will be very hard for Sami to start performing at a top level after coming back from his injury, I don’t expect him to do wonders against the Proteas, but having him in the side is always a big plus.
By the time Shoaib is finished with county and will be ready for South African series, he will be worn out, specially in the heat of Pakistan, so alot will depend on the current fast bowlers like Shabbir and Gul.
But by the time Sami and Shoaib are in good form, one of these guys will unfortunatly be out of time, atleast in one dayers.
I hate to contradict myself, but I have said many times that Mushtaq Ahmed is finsished for Pakistan cricket, but his recent success should be considered for test atleast, he is an ideal spinner.
Having 3 spinners will maximize the competition between the 3 spinners and hopefully they will start performing to their true potential
Here is what I think the probables should be for the South African series
Test Probables
M Hafeez, Salman Butt, Yasir Hameed, Inzimam ul Haq, Yousuf Youhana, Younis Khan, Rashid Latif, Shoaib Akhtar, M Sami, Shabbir Ahmed, Umar Gul, Dinesh Kaneria, Saqlain Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmed.
1 Day Probables:
M Hafeez, Yasir Hameed, Yousuf Youhana, Inzimam ul Haq, Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, Abdul Razzaq, Rashid Latif, Shoaib Akhtar, M Sami, U Gul, S Ahmed.
**Inzamam sets sights on 10,000 ODI runs **
Pakistan’s stand-in captain Inzamam-ul-Haq set his sights on scoring 10,000 one-day international runs after passing the 9,000 mark on Tuesday.
“I feel very good about completing the 9,000 runs today given the pressure I was under in recent months,” Inzamam told reporters after leading his side to a crushing 137-run victory over Bangladesh in the first match of the series. “Now I am looking towards 10,000.”
The 33-year-old Inzamam consolidated his position as the fifth highest run-scorer in one-day international history during his unbeaten innings of 56 in his hometown of Multan.
Only India’s Sachin Tendulkar (12,219 runs) and Mohammad Azharuddin (9,378), and Sri Lankans Aravinda de Silva (9,284) and Sanath Jayasuriya (9,126) have scored more limited-overs international runs than Inzamam.
“It has been an honour playing for so long for Pakistan and to reach this landmark when I am leading the side,” Inzamam said.
Inzamam was only recalled to the team for the recent test series against Bangladesh after a dismal 2003 World Cup in which he mustered only 19 runs in six matches.
He returned to form last week, however, making a majestic 138 to lead Pakistan to what had looked at one stage an improbable victory in the third test.
“I think today we proved our class in the match,” he said. “The openers batted professionally and we got a good start. It was than up to the senior players to show the way.”
Pakistan coach Javed Miandad said his players had analysed their mistakes in the test series against Bangladesh and come out stronger in the first one-day match.
“I think our fielding was brilliant today,” Miandad said. “The bowlers did a good job on a straight wicket and applied the pressure well on their batsmen.”
^He can complete 20,000 before he hits his 35th birth day provided he hit harder and ferociouly the ball...not dot ball please...he has nothing to lose...only add runs...thats it! :)
And I heard there were tears rolling out of his eyes after he led Pakistan to an odd victory against BD in the 3rd test. His tide of fortune must have turned now!
Of course, an even credit goes to Shabbir and Gul.
