I don't think trying out new players did any harm. Only Yaasir Ali looked like a waste of time. Farhan Adil scored 25 and then got out to a lifter in the 2nd innings. Salman Butt scored 37...which if the rest had contributed the game would be won by now. I'd have to see more of them but on a tricky pitch that's not too bad. If you can't try out new players when you have won the series then when are they ever going to get a chance? The biggest disappointment for me was Saqi. And he's not a new player.

I was surprised to see that he bowled only 14 overs in first inning and only 6 overs in 2nd inning... for a "specialist" bowlers its too little. Was he "injured"?

I think the selectors will sat down again to take the odd newcomer out and put some experience into team but far more important will be their fearful mindset while batting because players like INZI, Yoyo, Younis, Rashid are at the moment mentally very fragile ..... something u ppl may have noticed while watching them batting .....
they now fear to make the mistake which may cost them their wicket and while living and playing with such fear world class player tend to make these mistake even against minnows ......
when bowlers like Mahmud can bring batsmen like INZI to make the mistake normaly a newbie or youngster does then it's not because the latter lacking in ability to compete but because it's seems an impossible task for him (the batsman) to dominate the bowler with such a mindset .....
And in such a situation the often a batsman is beaten by even a low class bowler the more he (the batsman) will struggle not agains him but all those he may play afterwards
Get a lesson from Mr. Dependable: Rahul Dravid ...... for those who have seen his innings against ENG (i think at Headingly in summer 2002) may understand what i mean

Well i've to quote my self ..... Thanks to the Sharjah trophy and other ODI-tournaments our team plays even Tests like a ODI ..... or how can u explain their rushed shot selection just to get out by some very patient bengalis ...... yeah exactly those bengalis the world was talking about to take away the Test-Status ..... If Pak go down tomorrow (which is very much on the cards for PAK except Allah show his mercy in favour of PAK) then a lot of things are responsible for it ...... not only BD has improved a lot but PAK teams approach towards Test matches is far below par ......
Why ae Teams like AUS, SA or IND are far better Test sides for the past say 2-3 years ..... just because they've players like Langer, McGrath, Warne, Kallis, Kirsten, Pollock, Dravid, Tendulkar, Bajju etc. etc.
These players and especially the batsmen mentioned from these sides have something called mental toughness, Guts and Patience to hang around when the bowlers are bowling a tight line ..... Something i've seen recently only by Yoyo in he 2nd Test ......
Bowlers like McGrath maybe boring for their "always outside the offstump line" but they are effective in producing results against good opositions ..... something our recents attack lacks completely ...... we've the mindset that once a batsman refuse to play while we r bowling the above mentioned boring line & lenght stuff we switch over to experiment and this is a moral victory for the batsman .....
If Pak go down to give BD their Maiden test victory than only due it's inability to perform when it matters ..... unfortunatly i don't see any change in all this in near future which'll cost us dearly ....

25 and 37 is not a decent score..you should know that meray bhai..They have been trying out players even before the series. It doesnt make sense when you throw in half of the team who havent played any test. Winning the series is not an achievment against bungladesh. We should have detroyed them with our best possible outfit and be consistent playing the same team and blend in one or two real talented players.
I totally agre with Intikhab. Test cap is cheap!
btw I'm not really dissappointed with Saqi, I never had any expectatoins from him at the first place :p. Maaybe he might be just okay in ODIs...

I said it before and do it again (sorry LM yaar) that i agree about Saqi ..... This guy is past his prime and time will tell us how much he can keep up the level for the highest level of the game ......

sherry, 25 and 37 is not a decent score...but you have to look at the context which they were scored. Players making debuts on a track which is giving the bowlers plenty of help. The same player who made a century in Peshawar could have been out 5 times in making a total of 39 runs in this game (Hafeez).
I think they deserve to have another chance on more friendly pitches before being chucked out, I didn't see Butt's innings today, but they both look like decent players.
^^ Butt played some attractive strokes and for all accounts he looks like an opener who is willing to be aggressive and take the attack to the bowlers. And i agree he should be tried out against SA
Oh man!
Inzi better pull this off or I am going on a shooting spree on all the Bangali students at my uni.
Yeah Butt hits the ball hard and he looks like he fancies himself against the quicks. Plus he's a lefty...I'd love to see him given another chance, if only in the one dayer's. Farhan Adil has got very positive footwork, like Hameed. He should get another chance as well on a better batting track so we can see what he's made of.

yes Farhan and Salman should play against SA though i doubt about Farhan. As taufeeq is ruled out of SA series, i m hoping Salman will answer our openning worries against SA.
As far as opening goes we have no choice. Taufeeq is injured so we will have to use Salman Butt. I think it is too early to judge them after one test but so far I am not impressed by either of them.
Man i just saw the catch taken by Latif, what a great catch that was, but too bad it popped out of his hands but was still out. :D
this match means a lot to bangladesh than pakistan. they already have won the series so it was a perfect opportunity to try out the new guys. bowlers did a decent job. its the batsmen who have not clicked when it matters the most.
IF bangladesh won tomorrow then they fully deserve to win this test. they excelled at the right time to put pakistan under pressure. also we should understand that this pakistani side is a relatively young side with many players making their debuts. what if they are playing against an opposition of bangladesh caliber? this is international level cricket and for them being debutants, this level is new. they will learn & hopefully will improve with time. :~)
What is it you don't like about them ehsan? I missed Salman's innings today, maybe you saw something I didn't. Adil looks quite sound, whether he has the temperament or ability to go on and make a career we'll have to wait and see.

For once i will agree with you. If Pakistan wins tomorrow, it will be just a win but for BD it will mean a world. And yes with five changes in the squad i always thought this will be a closer contest , specially when two of the debutants are batsman (our weakest link).
well said :k:
that was soooo annoying seeing Younis Khan get out! Inzi really has to pull of sumthing tremedous here or this could well be the end of him.
Good luck Inzi and the remaining lineup.

Do u ppl think Mushi has some 1 in high ranks (sifarash) to get selected against for the SA series ??? If not 1 dayers then atleast for the Tests … They way we played and the way SA played i fear some serious thrashing at the hands off SA
… Am i alone looking at all this way ???
