Mohammad Khalil is a left armer paceman so there is another choice and i think that he hsould be given a chance against Bangladesh.
[/QUOTE]

Yeah Khalil would come in and I would like to see Danish out and Saqlain in. Taufeeq Umar hasn't done anything good in the series so far and I don't see why Pakistan is still prisiting with him. Salman Butt or Farhan Adil should get a chance.

I would like to see Farhan Adil and Saeed bin Nasir in action. Glad Mishab is out.

I hope PCB make some changes and give young guys chance to play.
Misbah & Saeed Bin Nazir out of the equation, Younis & Saqlain are defenitly in for the 3rd test.
I know it won't be fair to drop Hafeez since he played very well in the second inning not out 102
but I think PCB must try some new combo for the 3rd test, let Inzi and Taufeeq take a break, Keep Hafeez as a bowler not opener and bring Salman Butt with Farhan Adil or Asim Kamal as a opener.

01 Salman Butt
02 Farhan Adil Or Asim Kamal
03 Yasir Hameed
04 Yousaf Youhana
05 Younis Khan
06 Mohammad Hafeez (ROB)
07 Rashid Latif(wk & capt),
08 Saqlain Mushtaq (RLB)
09 Yasir Ali (RM) or Mohammad Khalil (LM)
10 Shabbir Ahmed (RMF)
11 Umar Gul (RMF)*

I think Taufeeq Umar and Hafeez have done a decent job as openers and I dont see why we should change the openers now.

My team for the 3rd test would be:

Taufeeq Umar
Mohammad Hafeez
Yasir Hameed
Inzamam
Yousif Youhana
Younis Khan
Rashid Latif
Saqlain Mushtaq
Shabbir Ahmad
Umar Gul
Mohammad Khalil or Yasir Ali

12th man = Farhan Adil

Taufeeq & Hafeez can hardly perform against Bangladesh do you think they will be able to perform well against South African and New Zealand?
players potential can only be determine if he is given a chance, so far PCB have ignored quit a few talented players in Pakistan. These talented players are ignored because they don't know anyone in the board or they are playing of the small club or located at remote location or bullcrap quota system.

Did you guys see the amount of people that showed up for the match in peshawar. There wasn't a empty seat in the house. Shame on the Karachiite.

There were certainly more people in Peshawar than in Karachi, but the stadium wasn't even half full.

Perhaps you have forgotten that Taufeeq performed well in last trip to South Africa that included a century and a half century in one of the tests. Plus, he played well against Australia last year, so he can perform well against tougher opposition. Just rule him out yet, and as far as Hafeez is concerned, he maybe slow but he needs more time to get set.

Can someone provide me with the logic for dropping Hafeez. The only person to perform better then him is Yasir Hameed in the tests. So if the person who is your second best batsmen (performance wise) against BD should be dropped then why keep all the others. Playing slow, well 100 in 142 balls is not exactly snail pace in test cricket. Give the guys a chance. I say judge them after their performances against SA.

well i would even go a step furthen than Ehsan Bhai ..... Let these new guys face the NZ conditions and then u may able to say what player is crap and what are real material for the highest level of the game ......

Even if some of the new guys don't perform well then atleast let them learn a bit while facing differnt attack on different tracks ..... dropping players after one or two series don't make sense because this way PCB will only amange to uncertain the whole team which'll result in maybe series loss <- and this again into change of the side <- and this probably into loss of yet another series etc. etc. ..... the circle will keep on and on .... take a look at England and u'll see what i mean ...... they were building the Team for the 2003 WC and now take a look at what team they are now .....

But i fear the problem is by far much deeper rooted than my above opinion indicates (Structure of the 1st Class in Pak + Selection Process + preparation for tours to countries with totally different wickets AUS, ENG, NZ, SA) etc. etc.

Latif looks for improved batting against Bangladesh

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan captain Rashid Latif is looking for his side to improve their batting in the third Test against Bangladesh as they attempt to complete a whitewash of the three-match series.

Pakistan won the first two Tests in Karachi and Peshawar by seven and nine wickets respectively and the third Test is to be played from September 3 to 7 in Multan.

**“I want to see the batsmen play longer innings and give the bowlers a proper total to bowl at and help us win the third Test in a more convincing manner,” Latif said on Sunday.

“The batsmen have struggled against the open field and consistent bowling by the Bangladeshi bowlers. In the third Test we need to improve.”**

Pakistan has only recorded 3-0 whitewash wins over touring sides twice, against Australia in 1982-83 and then over the West Indies in 1997 and Latif said a third sweep would give his side confidence ahead of their series with South Africa.

“If we finish this series with a three-nil result it will put us in the proper frame of mind for the next series against South Africa,” Latif said.

The 34-year-old said the third Test squad would be strengthened with the return of batsman Younis Khan, for the injured Shoaib Malik, and off spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who replaces fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who is returning to England to play for Durham.

Younis missed the first two Tests due to family commitments while the selectors have recalled Saqlain after being ignored for three one-day tournaments after the World Cup.

Latif said he had been surprised by the performances of the Bangladeshis, particularly their batsman Habibul Bashar and Javed Omar, who have each scored a century in the series so far. Bashar also scored 97 in the first innings at Peshawar.

“They have proved worthy opponents. They have shown improvement despite their limited resources,” said Latif.

“In Peshawar we were lucky that Shoaib Akhtar got into his rhythm at the right time and helped us win the match.”

Scoring 100 in one test does not make him better players, look at Wasti & afridi they have score centuries. If PCB were really confident that they have found perfect opening pair then why did they bring Bilal Asad , Imran Nazir and Ather to play as opener.
PCB has history of neglecting true talent; Player’s potential can only be determine if they are given a proper chance to succeed. I believe the whole domestic Cricket needs to be reshaped and it starts from Venus, Pitches and teams and clubs. Arranging more tournaments and tours for Pakistan A team. It will improve their ability to play against different team if they are exposed to a different condition and if they face different adversaries.

Yaar it all depends on talent. Hafeez has the talent, no doubt it and Im sure if we give him some more time he will settle down well. As far as I have seen him play, he sometimes looks to be a bit too nervous at the crease and holds backs on the shots which he wants to play. But I think if we stick with him, and if he is willing to learn more, he can be a great all-rounder for the Pakistani team.

Wasti And Afridi have been dropped after they were given reasonable chances to perform. In case of Hafeez what you are saying is that he should be dropped after two tests, in which he scored 50 in the first test and a century in the second. I am :konfused: to say the least. The others were probably included in case these openers failed miserably, which they havent. You can’t just go around dropping players even if they are playing good just to acommodate some others. I am sure the players you have mentioned will find place in the team sooner or later if they are good enough, just like Yasir Hameed and Hafeez has.

Hafeez can't be dropped after scoring a century, neither can Taufeeq after being one of our most consistent performers at test level and against high quality opposition abroad (SA) so calm down everybody.

Hafeez big test will be against SA, I'm not covinced he can dominate attacks of that quality or whether he's sound enough outside off stump against quality seamers. Still he's deserved the chance to prove himself so let's see how he fares and give him a chance to prove himself before dumping him prematurely.

I"m not very optimistic of the third test. Shoaib Akhtar our only strike bowler is going back to play for county and the replacement is a boring ineffective spinner Saqlain. Maybe he is better bowler now which i doubt it..There is no point adding more batsmen but we need to bolster our bowling attack. We need fast bolwers not someone like Umer gul or shabir these guys are even slower than Razzaq. It will be a joy ride for the bung again now they know shaoib is not their problem anymore..

mushi' and viki bhai should be recalled for the test team as they are both performing well in the 4 day county championship games in england + umar gul and shabbir ahmed haven't made the kind of contributions thus far that aamir sariyal sohail would have wished for, shoaib-i-babi had to almost single handedly take out the boundous in the 2 tests which have been played so far.... gul and ahmed aren't good enough yet so mushi bhai leading wicket taker with 89 wickets also in prime form should be recalled, letz face it this season mushi bhai has bowled better then saqi but still saqi the reject is picked for the squad........ it's time that the board started to pick those out of favour players two like waqar, mushtaq etc coz they have their own personal vandetta's against them........ yeah sariyal (aamir sohail) i'm pointing my finger @ you and others.......

openers for Pakistan

do you think Taufeeq umer and Hafiz are the best available openers right now....Taufeeq suits one dayers too?.....should we forget Afridi and Imran Nazir(although its difficult for me):)
what do you suggest buddy......?

Bangladesh hit out at discrimination in touring arrangements
Wisden CricInfo staff - September 2, 2003

Bangladesh's cricketers hit out at arrangements that saw them fly economy class even as their hosts flew executive class on their flight to Multan ahead of the third Test on Wednesday.

While the entire Pakistani squad flew executive class, only Dav Whatmore, manager MA Latif, physio John Gloster and trainer Dean Woodford were allotted executive class seats. According to The Daily Star, Bangladesh's liaison officer explained the arrangement by saying that the list of the touring squad had been received late.

One Bangladesh cricketer, who remained anonymous, said: "We have never heard of such silly excuses. Whenever any foreign team tours Bangladesh, we book the best hotel for them. We even compromise with our comfort by moving to a cheaper hotel to accommodate the guests. The Pakistani authorities should have had the decency to do the same."

Whatmore was more vocal. "This is not a good gesture. If there was any problem, the home team should have taken the economy class and offered the executive class to the Bangladesh team. I have never seen anything like this in my life." Whatmore had even offered his and Woodford's seats to Khaled Mahmud, Bangladesh's captain, and his deputy Habibul Bashar. "If required I will sit in the economy class and leave my seat to my captain. It's a matter of prestige."
