Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

Pakistan face another setback Rana Navedul Hasan arrived home with a groin injury, which could rule him out of forthcoming England tour.

Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer told reporters on Wednesday that the medium-pacer could not join the training camp due to the injury he sustained during county cricket.

He said the seamer’s medical reports would be sent to foreign experts to diagnose the problem.

The case has already been handed over to the PCB medical commission, Woolmer said.

Rana Naved picked up the injury while playing for Sussex in the English County Championship earlier this month.

Interestingly the national selection committee, headed by Wasim Bari selected Rana Naved in the 16-member squad without confirming the nature of his injury from the English county side.

Rana Naved could miss the first part of the England tour starting from June 25 as he is likely to have six-week rest. Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is already out of reckoning for the Test series with an ankle problem.

Meanwhile, medium-pacers Samiullah Niazi and Rao Iftikhar remain in contention as Rana Naved’s likely replacement.

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

ok lets just resign from this series we lost already

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

There goes the tour....Asif has been disapointing in county, Umar Gul just plain sucks, Iftikhar sucks, Samiullah is like a left handed Razzaq in terms of bowling, we r done guys I have to say, i think England will easily avenge the 2-0 defeat they received last year.

I forgot about Moh'd Sami, I think he'll step up.
Anyways our pathetic bowling line up will look like this:
Asif
Razzaq
Sami
Kaneria
Shahid Nazir (Gul doesnt deserve it)

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

with 2 front line bowlers gone the new frontline bowler is Mohammed Sami here is his chance to prove hiself

We can still win this series

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

I think Sami will become famous on this tour, and seal his place in the side for years and years and years to come.
Off-Topic
aaahhhh the thing i dont like about our team is that we will have to play Afridi no matter what...it will ruin the dressing room atmosphere...and besides Afridi barely scored against county teams I doubt he'll do anything against england.

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

ha ha

Afridi : PCB say he the key player of pakistan team.
is he?????????????

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

You nick-named yourself Afridi and yet you don’t even support him. Quite contrary. :hoonh:

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

:hehe:

afridi is in v.good form on the irland team at the moment lets hope he doesnt get injured to

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

All superstars getting injured at the last moments. I suspect an English conspiracy.

Is it raining cats and dogs in Chicago? I suggest we stay inside, cover ourselves with a blanket inside a shelter and let the storm clear up.

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

Since Naved is injured, our bowling attack now consists of Asif, Sami, Gul, Nazir and Razzaq.

Naved injury concern for Pakistan

Pakistan seamer Rana Naved-ul-Hasan could miss the Test series with England with a similar injury to Ashley Giles.

Naved injured his groin playing for Sussex against Middlesex at Horsham and preliminary tests have indicated he might have “Gilmore’s Groin”.

Giles has yet to play this season and if Naved has the same condition he could require surgery or extended rest and may be sidelined for six weeks.

“He has had problems in that area before,” coach Bob Woolmer admitted.

The tour starts on 1 July with a tour game against Leicestershire and the first Test begins at Lord’s on 13 July.

Naved has been unable to train with the Pakistan team but has been trying to help the injury by swimming.

The 28-year-old made a superb start to the county season, taking 34 Championship wickets before sustaining his injury at the end of May.

He took seven wickets in two Tests against England last winter, and fared even better in the one-day series, taking 17 wickets in five matches.

Pakistan are already without veteran fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who will miss the Test series with a stress fracture of his left foot.

However, he could return for the NatWest one-day international series of five matches, which starts on 30 August.

They will now be relying on Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Sami, Shahid Nazir and Umar Gul on for their pace line-up on the tour.

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

just edit it

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

Afridi sucks, I used to like him when he used to score, now he doesnt, so i dont, he just plain doesnt know how to play, I rather have razzaq in the team than him.

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

We can still hope to compete at a decent level but Shoaib-Rana absence means we start the series odds on favourite to lose. :-/

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

The team will be this 100% sure:
Shoaib Malik
Imran Farhat
Younis Khan
Moh'd Yousuf
Inzamam Ul Haq
Shahid Afridi (have to play him, inzi n bob begged him to unretire)
Abdul Razzaq
Kamran Akmal
Moh'd Sami (YES!!)
Moh'd Asif
Danish Kaneria

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

^ I agree, I would be very surprised to see a playing XI different than that. With just 3 specialist bowlers, it will be a tough ask. The upside is we bat pretty deep, how many centurions do you find at number 8?

On a side note, PCB needs to step up take notice of this injury crisis. Easily the most important tour for a while, and we will be playing a second string side. Instead of paying lip service to "resting players" and "rotation policies", the PCB needs to carefully monitor the off season activities of its main players.

Fielding FULL strength sides in meaningless dead rubbers, exhibition games, domestic fixtures and even too much county exposure should be stopped.

Re: Pakistan Tour of England and Injury Problems

Don't forget Sami, he can bat, HS is 49, unfortunately run-out.
