Pakistan to build one of the World's tallest building in Karachi

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

i agree to some extent

but looks like someone who sets the priorities.. is all messed up and has no clue what to allow and what to deny. There seems to be no genuine PUSH to attract investment where it is most needed.

Re: Pakistan to build the World’s tallest building in Karachi

There is, its just a question of what the investors see as something that they would get good returns on. So you can go out and promote such projects but you have to realize its not just different projects in Pakistan that the investors are looking at, but globally, and you can make the best case, but in the end it is up to them.

he sad thing is that when incentives are given to attract invstors then people start having issues, or..oh our nationa resources are being sold.

I say get an investor and sort PIA, etc.

phir galiaan bohot parrain gi.

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

Lol, unbelievable! You just have to laugh at how you need to drill a hole through some desis' heads and then shovel a funnel through, place a loudspeaker at the entrance, and then try and hope some words can get registered. It's not even a matter of contracting out of Pakistan, Pakistani engineers have been involved in some skyscraper projects, but if the architects are brought from outside that wouldnt surprise anyone, the builders will definitely be Pakistani. THE MONEY IS COMING FROM A PRIVATE INVESTOR, THEY DO NOY DO THINGS FOR THE INTEREST OF PAKISTAN, THEY WORK FOR THEMSELVES! It is much like you putting your money towards a public school, instead of spending it on buying a shop. What would you choose, school or shop for your own money?

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

roadrunner, i already tried saying that, it doesnt work... its like banging ur head against the wall and i bet someone else will make a grand appearance and demand money be spent on the poor rather than this building! Go tell this to the private investors peeps!

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

I still think that there are better ways to spend this money. I mean instead of building a skyscraper the leastthey can do is build me a mansion, with a 100 car garage and fill it up with all the exotics and classics...

sheesh, people just have screwed up priorities...

PS: faal wala tota also needs a boom boom room with some hootchie totis in there...

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

Cant Private Investments be regulated by the federal government?

I still don't understand how this building is suppose to be profitable....

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

Why in the world would you want to downregulate what people are paying you? If someone pays you a pound for a bag of sweets, do you say, no no, only 50p for these?

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

^^ Jeez, a sad truth over there.. :( However, if the person is honest, he would indeed take 50p instead of a pound. Dunno how many people like that are out there, but we DO need those kind of people.

Haan bhai haan.. I've always felt that Karachi's Sunday Bazaar is inhumane and horribly f**ked up. And when you talk to people about it - sometimes even on the internet - their response is "we don't have human rights in Pakistan, and you're talking about animal rights?" That might be sadly true but in my opinion human rights and animal rights are same... animal cruelty was also made a crime in our constitution but now who cares. In logon ko lagana paray ga.

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

There's nothing sad about it. That's how you do business!

Sheesh.

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

There are shortages of half-finished flyovers, and Dilpasand mithai outlets in Karachi. I demand the money is used for these. :)

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

^^There's your winner, Spock :D

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

I really hope you guys are between 10 and 15. Any older and that's just stunted brains to not realize the tremendous oppotunity of a $43 billion private investment.

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

^^ Jeez dude, simmer down. $43 billion foreign investment is what you're talking about.. it's the same like our Pakistani brothas working in Dubai for a $hitty wage (who knows, they may further lower the wage in Pak due to abundance of labor). First and foremost we need a wholly Pakistani company to do the building (even if it is private) so at least we can trust ourselves. Secondly the government should really be involved in what ever goes on.. they're the one who should care for the people.

Another note, even if a bit offbeat: Musharraf or not, we should rid ourselves of those yelling mullahs with the "kill-all-women-in-bikinis" attitude. I mean, okay, it is okay to the point of advising but then you don't take the law in your hands--let people be responsible for themselves. I am afraid some people like these will pose a threat to a "modernized" Pakistan.
I just heard about a guy in the news who killed "modern" women in Lahore because they were wearing "inappropriate garments" and he believed that he was "helping Islam" or something like that. And even when he got arrested he was like "I will continue my duty once I am released".. God help that guy.

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

fair enough, its a private investment - but do change the title as it isnt pakistan doing the construction, but some private corporation(emaar, i think but correct me if not). its like, if a macdonalds were to open in lalamusa, it would be idiotic to say that usa is opening up the fast food place. hey if it helps the local work force earn money, then more power to them.

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

I agree. Just imagine the amount of Dilpasand Gulab-Jaman you can buy for this amount?

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

aaahh, but that would not fit in with the political reasoning of this thread, it's very purpose

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

The tag of $43 billion cannot be compared to any wage being earned in Dubai by any Paki labourers. I'll agree people invest for their own benefit, but there's benefits for everyone concerned, Pakis included.

dont follow

The government is involved, but the private investor will build what they like so long as it is legal.

So? You get nutcases like this in every country. Pakistan isnt really radicalized anyway despite what media portrays. Some Western Pakis are more radicalized than Pakistanis in Pakistan.

Re: Pakistan to build the World's tallest building in Karachi

Why are we discussing pointless inferior things. Why didn't this hit me first in the head? >> Who is the one who's gonna be buying in all these investments? Businessmen? Corporates? Rich people who already own like 3 land plots in the city?
What about those living in the slum ghettos. How are they gonna practically benefit from this? Okay the labor gets their money but then where to spend it. Building more slums?
