…because Pakistan really does not belong to this group. Her grouping lies somewhere else. Pakistan is not a South Asian nation.
India, Sri Lanka, B. Desh etc… have common heritage, culture and race. We Don’t.
It is true that Pakistan is not doing great economically, but make no mistake Pakistani people have the highest living standard when compare to other SAARC members. A foreign visitor is amazed to see the higher living standards of pakistani people. Some of those standards are not even dream by ordinary man in India or B. Desh.
President Zia should had not joined this organization in the begining. He did it any way for some funky reasons. But we must not remain in there. Staying in their means we are part of South Asian belt.
WHat the hell are you talking about? Pakistan is very much a SOuth Asian nation as other six states are. Fine its geo strategic location is such that its linked with the West Asian, Central Asian as well as South Asian states but still I would say we share more with the North Indians than even the North Indians do with their own people in the South.
I believe we are more close in terms of per capita income, standard of living, lifestyles and share more or less a common history with the South Asian states than any other states towards our North and West.
^ thanks. Do you have anything to say regarding RSS and VHP's goons that burn and kill Muslims, Christians and dalits in India and the blahdy raging civil war in Srilanka.
uffo! This is Pk_taz aka Zakii at work again. Panjdaria chick, don't be so repetitive with the topics you choose to piss people off. Don't always stick to pak not being south asian, expand your horizons, say pak actually lies on Orion's belt.

SAARC is a waste of time. Economically speaking it is destorying trade for all member countries with the exception of India. Due to the "hub and spoke" theory, India is the only nation to benefit after SAARC while other countries have lost out.
Come on guys, we do belong to South Asia also. Think big, through unity and free trade we all gain. Yes we are different, but do not forget that we had a common history in the Sub-Continent. So even though we are close to Central Asia, we are still part of South Asia. It is a narrow way of thinking that we should not be in SAARC. Why not?
And by the way, Islam teaches us equality and respect for other cultures. No white has any superiority over a black nor an Arab over a non-Arab. How can we so easily forget the words of our Prophet :saw:
Pakistan has more in common with Western neighbors but there is no denying of the fact that we do have common things with South Asia also.
SAARC should be promoted more and we must solve our differences to make our region a peaceful and prosperous place. SAARC is a good platform , lets not lose it. We can be part of SAARC and a common Islamic market also.

Can you explain how Pakistan has more common things with western neighbours? You cant base everything on religion, and besides there are a large number of Muslims in India too. Think about language, food, physical resemblences, culture, architecture, values, traditions.
