Quite true. Observing wall-chalking during an extended drive on a highway gives one impression that ‘mardana kamzori’ is the number one problem people face in the country.

Sex related problems cannot be solved by TV programs.

All they do is give a pathway to have people to fulfill their hidden desires. Mere 'chaskaray baazi".

If someone has problem, there are many private ways to obtain help.

STD’s are tell-tale signs of promiscuity. Promiscuity should be opposed first.

Would you please enlighten us by writing what these private ways of obtaining help are?

And I don’t think anyone here is suggesting people start sleeping around all of a sudden. And promiscuous behavior should be discouraged sounds less hostile than it should be opposed.

I just read the original article. Turns out the show isn’t what we thought it was. They’re giving people religious dogma instead of actual medical advice. What’s the point? I could get that from my local imam. Why should I call you guys ?

No one is talking about solving sexual problems through tv shows. Its all about informing people & letting them know that whatever problems they have are not unique to them.

wait curious how do conservative countries talk about sex? and other topics like molestation, rape etc. Or does it not exist in Utopia Pakistan?

My children will never experience this conservative nature regarding sex… in fact I come from a very liberal country yet I do not have an STI. Don’t you think it’s lack of education/knowledge that spreads STIs rather than being very liberal about sex?

That’s why you label them “conservative” in the first place.

And by definition ‘taboo’ is something you don’t talk about in open.

in a country like Pakistan, you wont find many sexual health experts.
plus, people find it easier to talk to some doctor on a phone who doesn’t know them and their identity is not disclosed than talking to their own doctors in person.
I agree that TV show alone is not the answer but certainly it is one of the way to address these problems.

I have taken part in tv and radio programs and can tell, the only real advice people can take from it is “talk to your doctor about it”. Health related programs are only good to educate people about emergencies, that is, when to immediately go to hospital or to give bridging advice till they reach a medical expert.

I think we take our privilege for granted. We here on these forums have access to the internet. We don’t need to call someone and ask them about these kind of issues. If we’re curious about anything we just go to google and type in whatever comes to mind. Is it fair that people who don’t have internet or don’t understand English don’t have access to all this knowledge. Knowledge we can summon to our computer screens in mere seconds.

And before you say everybody has cellphones in Pakistan. They can use the internet on that thing and find whatever smut they want to find. Yeah they have internet and sure it’s easy to get to smut. However searching for something educational is kinda tough when you can’t even form a search string, since you don’t understand English.

I don’t think it’s fair for us to decide if other people have access to these kind of shows or not, because we’re not even the target audience. We don’t need these shows so easy for us to dismiss them as dirty, Western or whatever comes to mind when you’re high on caffeine(hey we don’t do alcohol or drugs, we get high on caffeine).

I think we don’t even need coffee, some of us are high feeding their own ego.

If women have sexual health issues they talk to their gynaecologist, if its men, they go to urologist. Even GPs are trained in giving the generic advice, that these programs dish out. And they can refer the difficult cases to urologists.

You can have all the knowledge in the world, but a person practicing abstinence or in a mutually monogamous relationship will always have a lower risk of contracting STIs than someone who sleeps around. So you can’t say sleeping around has no risk as long as you’re using the safe sex methods. The risk is reduced, it isn’t eliminated.
