In 1941, this Resolution became part of the Muslim League constitution and in 1946 it became the basis of the demand for Pakistan.
Where was it signed?
It was signed in the city of Lahore, in Minto Park (now known as Iqbal Park).
Who signed it?
It was passed in 1940 at the location of now Iqbal Park in the city of Lahore by the members of All India Muslim League, member of which included Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal among other prominent members.
That ladies and gentlemen is the document that further solidified a state in the making, an Islamic Republic of Pakistan. When we look around today, we don’t see much of that humble document being followed, and despair is a common commodity. Why do you think that is? Where do you think we have gone wrong as a nation? How would you reform the society and go back to the blackboard of basics where Jinnah and Allama Iqbal left us. What do you think we as a society need to do, to live according to the expectation and vision of our founding fathers?
Please share, and lets join hands this day to do our part, however small it maybe to use this Resolution as an example for the better of our nation. Lets do our part to implement it wherever we possibly can.
Lets educate each other about what it means to be a Pakistani and remind each other of the struggle that our forefathers endured, so that we may be a free nation able to live according to the vision that our most sincere leaders held. We must strive to raise our voices wherever we see injustice being done. We must protect our minorities, and make every Pakistani feel like an equal maker of the nation. We must respect our fellow countrymen and march forward, with one pace, one ambition, one vision, and one goal; that is to cherish this nation of ours and rise above our differences.
Let us this day, pledge to become the Pakistanis that our founding fathers envisioned us to be!
May Allah bless Pakistan, and guide us all, as its citizens so that we may reunite under one flag, under one slogan, under one uniformed ideology.
