Before we all start beating our chests about how bad the Saudis are, let’s not forget what goes on in Pakistan. The only difference here is that we treat our own Pakistani women the same way Saudis treat non Saudi women. The problem lies with male dominated culture mixed with discriminatory Sharia laws. In Pakistan, a rape victim usually becomes the criminal.
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
^ Exactly. How many Pakistani women get justice in rape cases in Pakistan?
The incident is barbaric. But do these kinds of incidents not very normal.... like 'a daily thing' in that part of the world (or so have I heard)? Only few such cases come into light.
Regarding different laws for nationals and expats in Arab countries is definitely against the teachings of Islam. The 'Saudi' Islam consits of covering the second class citizens (female or better yet, expat females) from head to toe. Is there more to it? If yes, someone please enlighten me.
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
Good point. I see most people here ragging on the “Saudis”, but when this sort of thing happens in Pakistan, they say “Oh, there are good and bad people in every society”. Hypocrites.
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
Can you spare Pakistan for a second? This is about the discriminatory laws, about how it protects Saudis, how Saudis can exploit your visa issues, how the girl was jailed for being victim of a crime… and all you came up is with Pakistan bashing, bravo bravo ![]()
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
There is nothing of "hypocricy" here. If the girl was to go to courts and she had got proper justice or even if her case was rejected for lack of evidence, it may have been "fine" with many. But the girl being jailed, deported for being a victim, says much about the dicriminatory laws there.
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
Right, and the same discriminatory behaviour in terms of laws happens in Pakistan as well, and in many other Muslim countries. So why bash the “Saudis”?
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
May be you can elaborate further on that ?
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
What is there to elaborate on? Are you saying that there are no cases in Pakistan, where a woman is raped, and then blamed for it?
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
I am talking about "laws" providing discrimination.
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
Fret, do a search. Pakistani rape cases, particularly the conversial, if not famous ones, have been discussed here in the past few months ... and no, the vast majority don't turn a blind eye to it saying "oh, there are good and bad people in every society".
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
The discrimination happens to Pakistani women. The “laws” are against them, especially in the tribal areas. It’s a sad situation.
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
Have you ever been to Pakistan yourself to take into account of the situation there? I am just curious. There are places like that and the problem is that they make such a hue and cry and when such incidents go unreported and very common across the globe.
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
The key words in your statement. I'm talking about "laws", not panchayat or jirgas, thank you :)
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
They are considred “laws” in their society. If they aren’t, why doesn’t the Pakistani government do something about it?
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
bhai sahab, ur knowledge about Pakistani society and its contitution is not sufficient to present a relevant arguement to the original topic.
Jirga and panchayat is the lagacy of Hindu (in sindh mostly) and Sikh (in Punjab). The State of Pakistan itself is practicing British laws of 1850s. There is no sharia implemented in Pakistan. The flag barrier of Sharia and ‘rightous’ path is KSA, not Pakistan. Pakistan needs a Islamic revolution to get rid of these parasites. KSA has got through the revolution already and has Sharia implemented, atleast on the streets if not in big palaces. For these many decades of Sharia implementation, it is ‘supposed’ to have been more and more refined, defined and detailed according to the new circumtances and challenges. Instead the muftis and grand muftiz are working very hard to make sure nobody talks about politics and regime. Very hi nice.
If they have any shame, they should stop calling other Muslims ‘miskeen’ if they have heard last sermon of Propphet sw. They should treat other non-arabs same, if they believe in one God and one Prophet sw. Or declare the state as “just another Arab country with top quality hypocracy” and stop playing shariya drama.
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
How many western women get justice in the west? In fact they get more than justice…
When a girlfriend gets pissed off at her boyfriend, she can always claim rape…I was once a witness to such a case…The sex was mutual, but they both fell apart…The girl accused him rape…
Re: Pakistan Rape Laws/Cases (split)
Lajo, how did you know the sex was consensual? Were you actually in the room when it happened? I doubt it n if you were, well you’re not such a great witness then ![]()
No means no, even if you’ve had sex with that person before, if they say no, you cannot force it, just because yu’ve had them before. So thas a stupid argument, that sex before was mutual..
I was listening to a radio program earlier today where a rape counselor said that the statistic for women who lie abt rape si*** less than one percent.***. and yet, that one percent make it harder for ALL real sexual assault (legal term fr rape) victims to get justice in the legal system and in society..
Re: Pakistan Rape Laws/Cases (split)
Well, you sort of get the idea when they had been together throughout most of their years in school…
Re: Pakistan Rape Laws/Cases (split)
Lajjo ![]()
Re: Pakistan Rape Laws/Cases (split)
Yea, how can a girl be raped if she and her boyfriend had been together already for a number of years? She is property and will perform when and where her man tells her too.
Anyone who doesn't agree with the above has been westernized by American propaganda, fools. Thank you Lajawab for your insight and being above the Westernization that threatens the Muslim world today.
