Four witnesses to prove a rape is part of Pakistani Hudood laws. Tell me how this is fair? Even beyond that, the police will rarely write an FIR on the words of a rape victim and instead may accuse the victim of adultery or other offenses under zina. And let's not even begin to talk about "honour" killings. Just two days back I read of a story in Dawn about some guy killing his sister and brother in law because they dared marry each other without asking him first. Thankfully the police arrested him but even in jail he was ecstatic over what he had done. Who knows if he will ever get the death penalty or maybe he will be released due to pressure from some feudal minded politician. Either way his victims are dead.
not a good example. has the police arrested the saudi rapist? in both cases the crime has been committed. one is being punished and the other roams free.
so basically you opened this thread cuz u got pissed at everyone calling such saudis bast*rds for raping and jailing a young girl. and in turn you opened a pakistan bashing thread. Do me a favor open old threads on mukhtaran's rape and look how much pakis themselves have bashed pakis (their own peepz) pakistanis are not shy when criticizing their own country/people/govt/systems.
anyways its good you balanced it though, since now you are no different than those that criticized the saudis. welcome to the hate club :)
Anyways yes pakistan has these dicriminatory laws...shariah- a product of always looking up to **Saudi Arabia. **The shias in Pakistan look up to Iran while the Sunnis Wahabis look up to Saudis.
also read newspapers like dawn (review mags and all...) where honor killings/rape are always reported and the govt/military/mullahs etc etc are always cursed at. the hudood laws are being fought against in pakistan and there is an active movement both by pakistanis that live in pakistan and NGOs to eradicate these laws. Can you state such movements in Saudi Arabia? For every Saudi Man that marries 2,3 or 4 times can you produce a Pakistani man that does the same? no. because change is taking place, albeit slowly.
as far as finger licking the west is concerned no nation is a bigger licker than the Saudis. where on one hand they wear the islamic abaya and denounce the west as an islam-hater, but on the inside wear western brands and color their hair/eyes to look more white and cannot be bothered as long as they have american goods in their houses. the situation of barbaric shariah laws combined with a hunger for all goods western make for a good laugh.
and yes anyone that rapes is a BAST*RD. be it anyone.
I have not opened any thread. I don't why my name is on the front page. My example was not to make a direct comparison between any incident, it was to highlight the fact that we are not much better of then the Saudis in women's rights. If we point one finger at anyone else, three will point back at us. It's one thing to condemn this incident, it's another to act holier then though and judge all of Saudi society.
You know guys - You are right Pakistani women are being treated worse no doubt about that. But guess what many of us have started to kick back and fight.
Its sad to hear and read cases like mukhtar mai, sonia naz etc but at the same point it gives me a hope that Pakistani women is not weak.
Unfortunately Those Arab women cant even scream.... I lived among them for 13 years...
In Pakistan women have started to get up and fight back and i think in long run i can see good things for Pakistan. I am sure the next generation is going to be much more strong.
There is a hope to change the system of Pakistan but there is no HOPE to change system of Saudi Arabia.. simple is that....
everyone is “literate” and so “philosphical”, yeah forget Saudis, let them have discriminatory laws against us (non-Arabs) while they claim to be implementing Shariah , yes we are wrong too, but can we diss ourselves in different threads? why can’t we just focus on wrongs done by them when the news was about them? I’m sure everyone dissed, cursed Pakistani laws when we were discussing Mukhtaramai case, so chill and let us condemn the wrong where we see it. Mucho gracias.
Captain, we also claim to be an Islamic republic and fortress of Islam but we all know what happens in reality. I pointed this out not to take the blame away from Saudis, but to get some of the anti-arab/saudi rhetoric down a notch. We Pakistanis have short memories and only notice incidents of injustice when the international media covers them. Open up jang or dawn any day and you will see equally sad stories of injustice against both women and men. If I started opening a thread each time I read such a story I would probably need to quit my job and do this full time. Expressing anger on the internet is fine but we need to do a lot more. Kudos to Ansar Burney for taking care of this poor girl. I hope people who can, to contribute to NGOs that help victims in Pakistan and abroad.
Anyway, its not our job to change Arab culture, but it is our job to change Pakistani culture. If we can start following the true spirit of Islam, I would support overthrowing the Saudi rulers by force if need be, but until then we should focus inwards.
I hope people who can, to contribute to NGOs that help victims in Pakistan and abroad.
^ Good, I will try google but if you know Ansar B. web site please share with us. thanks
Had this happened in US, would the girl be treated similarly. Taking in consideration, all posts, i can just say, we and Saudis are both equally bad, americans are better than both.
Re: Trafficked from Pakistan, raped and jailed in Saudi Arabia
paki laws do…cause raped women fall under the law of zina, as most women fail to provide 4 witnesses of their rape:halo:..and risk death penalty for being victim of a rape…in that situation, i’d rather shut up that “claim justice”
