Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

Im curious, does China’s investment in Pak Rail as it pertains to the Economic corridor involve normal trains as we have now, or are they planning on building High speed rail as they have in China ? I doubt it would be High speed rail, but who knows with the Chinese.

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

Its mainly about up gradation of existing track like MLI (Karachi-Peshawar) and other tracks to allow max. speed of 140 km/hr which is around 80 km/hr with existing lines.

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

^ upgrade? or simply remove old lines, deploy new lines.... lots and lots of kick back can be earned, big opportunity of corruption at all levels ;)

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

In old days we used to see how many trains originated not one or two wagons loaded, which was the job of wagon chaser or controller (gr 5 or 6) in the control office. Just for your information, from Karachi average 20 out which 5 were oil express trains ran from port area daily with average carrying load of 1800 to 2000 tons per train hauled by GMU 30’s the best American locomotives after ALUs (Again American). It is a shame railway has gone down so low that even one wagon loaded from kana kaachaa has become a big deal eh!. Yar kuch sharam karo. Look at the record of record trains ran in the fifties, sixties and even in seventies you will be ashamed of posting above nonsense as promotional news for saad rafiq

Introduction of more roads and highways as per your bosses plan which is just 180 degree out what saad rafiq is saying. The railway will be redundant in next one or two decades keeping in view the tiny size of the country

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

In month of March, they originated 300+ freight trains from Karachi (average of 10 trains /day). In 2012 when our most competent Railway Minister Ghulam Bilour was running Railway affairs, average came down to** 1 to 2 trains/day** from Karachi. Certainly Saad Rafique has not yet achieved that efficiency or productivity of 1960s or 1970s but he is trying his best to fix it. Pakistan Railways have already achieved** Revenue Target of Rs. 28 Billion** for FY 2014-15 in March well before June 30.

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

Now these are quality well know locomotives. They can turn around the image of railway. Will some one tell saad rafique, no more chinese locomotives. Instead ALCO from India are much superior than chinese as PR has the technical know how for ALCOs, GMs and GEUs.

****ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday heaped praise at railways minister Saad Rafique while inaugurating the Green Line train in Islamabad.

After the inauguration, the premier addressed various dignitaries, the media and took the opportunity to honour Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.

**
“I was right to choose Khawaja Saad Rafique to become the railways minister,”** he said.

“In just two years, Pakistan Railways has progressed. Saad Rafique is a good team leader,” he said.

The prime minister’s remarks come hours after the Election Commission of Pakistan issued a notification recalling its earlier notification that annulled Saad Rafique’s membership in the National Assembly from NA-125.

Rafique’s victory from NA-125 was termed invalid by an election tribunal on May 4 after the panel found irregularities in the records of election material for the constituency. A re-poll was also ordered within 60 days of the verdict announcement.

The premier said that various institutions of the state and their performance reflect the performance of the government.

“Restoration of the railways was a major challenge,” he said.

Nawaz said that the Green Line would transport passengers from Karachi to Islamabad and vice versa with the fare of Rs 5,500.

Furthermore, he elaborated that the route will include other destinations such as Rohri, Bahawalpur and Lahore and the train is equipped with “advance facilities” such as Wi-Fi and the total journey would take 23 hours.

“Passengers will also be provided with Rs 1 million travel insurance,” Nawaz said.

The premier also stressed that the bathrooms of the train are better than the ones in Pakistan International Airlines.

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

Dont know if DB pai had heard about what happened to the green train otherwise I am sure he wouldnt have shared.

As far as the time is concerned, as far as I know the tezgam between Karachi and Lahore used to take 17-18 hours, so 22 hours from Islamabad to Karachi is fast??

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

Tezgam time is abt 18 hours from KHI-LHR but Green Line will be from KHI-ISL so thats why 23 hrs as Rail Car also takes abt 5 hrs from LHR-RWP

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

But LHR-ISL is 6 hours so are you saying you saved us just 1 hour after this big investment??

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

The facilities it offer would compare it to Rajdhani Trains of India , speed is not important in Green Line case

Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income

I dont think painting the train would have costed much, baqi Saad Rafique jaanay :snooty:
