i just heard on the news that the Chinese Locomotives that PR bought recently. one of them failed on it's first run to Lahore from Karachi.

It would be a good development. Some good news are coming from the railways side. I hope Saad will continue to work hard on his department.

Sa'd Rafeeque is no doubt much better Railway Minister than Haji [rather Paajee] Ghulam AHmad Bilour. Sa'd has some good for the railways in his heart.
btw, 2 newly imported Chines Engines failed on their way to their destination on the first day of operation. one was pulling Bugti Express and the other one was in-charge of Jaffar Express. both failures on the same day and on their first runs. what a quality product they have imported.

Transparency and clarity has never been a hallmark of PMLN. Just like Ishaq Dar uses loan money to bloat GDP and forex reserve figures, Saad Rafique is portraying a reduced loss, as income.

at least a great improvement over the previous minister who thought we didn't need railways at all or the regime which thought railways, wapda, pia, etc are places where you can hire jiyalas on lifetime stipend.

i think the corrupt engineers at Loco workshop used the same old 'used' engine oil! :D
3 out of 6 locos mean 50% failure rate on their 'maiden' runs.

Oh absolutely. There is improvement. But that doesnt mean they can mislead people into thinking that PR is running profitable in just 1 year. The actual statement should have been that PR's running loss is expected to be reduced by 6 billion. Net, PR is still in a loss, though at the current rate, it could turn profitable in a couple of years.
PS. Lets not forget that major funding for PR has come from high interest loans, not revenues.

6 engines brought in for a trial run have failed testing, and deemed unsuitable for Pakistani tracks, putting the entire order in jeopardy.
Who cares about feasibility reports, right? In Sharif’s Pakistan, metros and motorways and underpasses are built on Sharif’s whims, not logic. Engines are imported just because sharif ka un kay dil agaya…not because they work.
