The procurement of **Hopper Trucks **had also been started. The official said the manual-signalling system of **Lodhara to Kotri **Section was being switched over to the auto-signalling system.

He said around 100,000 passengers benefited from **14 special trains ** run by PR on Eidul Azha. He added that the PR administration had retrieved 3,000 acres of land from encroachers in two phases.

Pakistan Railways to charge 2-way fare, detention charges from PPP to operate special trains for October 18 rally**
Pakistan Railways (PR) will charge two-way fare and detention charges from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for special trains to be operated for the party’s public gathering to be held in Karachi, said PR General Manager Operations Javaid Anwar Boobak on Saturday.
He said the performance of PR was being improved day by day. Sixteen special trains instead of 14 would be run on next Eid to facilitate the people, he announced.
He said the PR earned** Rs 6.33 billion from July 1 to September 30 this year, which was 21.8 percent more **than the same period of last year. The PR, he said, earned 1.3 percent more than the given target in budget by the government.
He said the PR loaded 32,830 freight wagons during the current year so far while the number of wagons loaded during the previous year was 14,893, which showed improvement in performance.
To a question, the Railways GM said the Business Express train was defaulter of more than Rs 1 billion but the PR was unable to close the project as cases in this regard were in the courts and hoped the courts would provide justice.
To another question about gutting of 25 boggies, he said a comprehensive investigation report would be prepared by October 13 and the PR had got the support of experts of the Punjab Forensic Laboratories.
Regarding complaints about misconduct by public dealing staff, he said the PR administration was planning to introduce refresher courses for the staff.
To a question about the speed of trains run on Lahore-Narowal section, the GM said track situation was poor at the section so trains were being operated on 30 km per hour.
The rehabilitation of track, he said, was possible only if sufficient funds were available.

Mehran Express relaunch deferred - Newspaper - DAWN.COM
**MIRPURKHAS: The relaunch of Mehran Express between Karachi and Mirpurkhas scheduled for Wednesday (October 15) was deferred due to unavailability of the Railways minister for the inauguration ceremony, it is learnt.
The relaunch of Mousa Express between Lahore and Multan was also postponed due to the same reason, railways sources said.
The local railways officials had finalised arrangements here for a ceremony where the minister was to make a speech and formally announce resumption of the train services.
The extra coaches to be attached to the trains had been kept ready and the relevant information and a schedule for the train services on the Karachi-Mirpurkhas sector was got printed for distribution at the ceremony.

In a statement, PR labour leader Manzoor Razi criticised the last-minute postponement of the ceremony, saying that it had disappointed thousands of people desperately waiting for the resumption of the service after a gap of seven years.
He urged the federal authorities and the Sindh governor and chief minister to ensure resumption of both the train services and approach the railways ministry for an early date for the postponed inauguration ceremony.

Bhongian marne se pehlay Sad Rafiq ko puray Pakistan railway system ko inspect karna hoga. is main stations, railway lines, signalling and communication equipments, rolling stock, safety of trains. What is the level of competency of people who are running the railway? e.g. Station Masters, Drivers, Guards, Controllers etc. If he does not know this he should be informed by you asap before any serious mishap happens next time killing score of people.
Train collision near Ran Pathani kills at least one - Pakistan - DAWN.COM
KARACHI: A collision between two trains on Tuesday killed at least one person near Ran Pathani area of Sindh, officials said.
The accident between a freight train and the Lahore-bound Business Express departing from Karachi killed the driver of the passenger train, confirmed the Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) of the Railways department.
Sources said that the Business Express had collided with a stationary cargo train causing several bogies of the Business Express train to derail.
Several people were said to have been injured in the accident, although the exact number was yet to be verified.
Emergency teams were dispatched from nearby Karachi, Hyderabad and Thatta areas, but were facing difficulties in reaching the remote location.
Railway services between Karachi and the rest of the country were suspended after the accident.
Relatives of the train’s passengers flocked the Karachi Cantonment Railway Station to inquire about the well-being of their loved ones. The Business Express train was carrying 270 passengers at the time of accident.
Railway accidents are common in Pakistan, which are mostly blamed on poor maintenance and human error.
Pakistan suffered one of its worst train disasters in more than a decade in 2005 when three trains ploughed into each other in Sindh province, killing around 150 people.

While the railway has stabalised under Saad Rafique, the entire structure needs massive upgrading which can only occur under a dedicated government. If anybody think Saad Rafique is that man, you're an idiot.
China has stepped in for its own benefits obviously, but it will only invest in what it needs. Gwadar-Karachi line, Gwadar-Peshawar line, and onwards to the Chinese border via Khunjerab. That's it...China will not waste its time and money on lines to Iran or Afghanistan or investing in local commutter rail service like KCR. For the past 10-15 years we've been hearing about this Karachi Circular Railway....where is it? Saad Rafique has been silent as usual...he seems more interested in Imran Khan than the railways.

I don't know about the recruiting process in other organizations, but I know how the operating staff is recruited in the railways. First of all railway is a unionized organization and mostly operating people are recruited through a selection process. There is a huge quota for children of employees who are serving or served railway for many years. Even if some recommendations comes from minister/mna/mpa etc, those people have to go through recruiting process. After recruiting they are not sent directly to the position of station masters, guards, drivers, firemen, kante wala etc. They all have to go to Walton Training School Lahore and Diesel Training School Karachi for vigorous hands on training before they are sent to different divisions to work on actual job.
I know all this because once I was also involved in such recruiting process. sifareshen to angrez ki hukumat main bhi chalti thein aor mardood Zai-ul-Haq ke zamane main bhi. magar tumhari sui atki howi hay PPP ko sirf target karne main aor tum jhooth bolne se bhi baaz nahin aatay. Aakhir tumhara problem kya hay?

All of them were also affiliated with PPP. Selling jobs is a trademark of PPP and all of us know it.

pooray Pakistan ki phatijar haalat hay, railway aasman main nahin chalti. I did not make any personal comments. I know railway's in and out and have very thorough knowledge about it. Take my post to any railway official and I challenge you if they say anything different what I am saying. Railway ministry was with ANP minister and not with PPP. I was civil servant during mardood time. paisay us waqt bhi chaltay the, paisay ab bhi chaltay hain farq sirf itna hay ke ab paisay lete howay pakion ko koi sharam nahin aati, haraam ke aaiay howay paisay khowah of business ho, ya sarkaari mulazimat, apna haq samjhtay hain.
