Re: Pakistan Railways expects Rs 6 Billion More Income
panchi pai how can you sit for 36 hours travelling from Karachi to Rawalpindi? When you travel in your so called rehabilitated parlor cars for 36 hours give your opinion then. About 40 years ago when Super Express introduced these coaches running from Karachi to Lahore ask people how their arses were teared off when they got off the train at Lahore station
As regard your speed bs, this was achieved in the seventies when double line was existing from Karachi to Lodhran. Isn’t this double line project from Lodhran to Lahore started by previous governments??? Why your minister is taking credit of this when this was done by someone else?? Automatic signals and track circuiting were even existing in the seventies in few sections of Railway, what is new about it???kuch sharam karo jhooth boltay howay.
Now you want to post Railway tenders in this forum too free of cost?
**Double track makes progress - Railway Gazette

PAKISTAN: This month trains are expected to begin using a second track laid on the Kachakhuh - Chichawatni section of Pakistan Railway’s Karachi - Lahore main line. The 1 676 mm gauge route is being doubled throughout and upgraded for 140 km/h operation under a project due to be completed by July 2009.
The only double-track routes PR inherited on independence in 1947 were Karachi - Lodhran and the 15 km from Raiwind to Lahore, at either end of the country’s most important main line. To handle growing traffic, PR began doubling from Lodhran to Raiwind in 2003. The first 15 km of the Lodhran - Multan - Khanewal section had been completed by May 2005, when the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council approved funds of Rs8·3bn to complete the entire route to Raiwind.
The work is being undertaken by the Frontier Works Organisation and private sector companies. A total of 87 bridges are to be rebuilt and a further 15 closed. To make the best use of resources, PR is simultaneously upgrading signalling, standardising level-crossings, remodelling yards and easing curves on the line.

Showing zero tolerance against illegal state land grabbers across the country, Pakistan Railways has so far vacated over 3,498 acres of its land from encroachers in a period of almost four years.
“A total of 3,498.579 acres of railways land has been retrieved and regularized until 30 November 2015 after a detailed survey and subsequent campaign launched against encroachers on directives of the Supreme Court,” official sources in the Ministry of Railways told APP on Monday.
The anti-encroachment drive, they said, was being monitored by the divisional superintendents,
railway headquarters and at the level of ministry. Besides a comprehensive policy was in place to prevent further encroachments, making railway officers and police responsible ‘in case of any new encroachment.’
During the current campaign, they said 688 were arrested in the anti-encroachment operations and they were being trailed in the courts after retrieving the land from their unauthorized occupation.
To a question, the sources said the issue regarding illegal occupation and possession of Railway land by government departments and institutions had also been taken up with concerned departments. “It is an ongoing exercise, which will continue till the elimination of encroachments.”
