Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
Yeah, its been a longtime, Pak beat them in test.
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
Last time Pakistan won against australia was in 1995 in Sydney, with Ijaz scoring a hundred and leggie Mushtaq taking 9 wickets.
and even that was an insignificant victory as it was already a dead rubber because Australia already won the first two matches of th three match series.
Pakistan’s last significant victory against Australia was back in 1994wheN Inzi and Mushtaq’s last wicket 50+ snatched the game from Australia at Karachi.
And Pakistan’s last significant victory outside Pakistan was back in 1979in Melbourne when Sarfarza Nawaz took 9 wickets.
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
Kangaroos are no more a dangerous team now ......Johnson N Bollinger were useless in the 2 match series ....
n Batting was also not upto the mark
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
اب دیکھتے ہیں کہیں دوبارہ نہ ہگ دیں۔چالیس رنز بھی مشکل نہ بن جائيں۔ ان کا کوئ بھروسہ نہیں۔
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
Even Pakistan can't mess this up now.
With the arrival of some pretty good youngsters on the scene, it finally looks like Pak cricket is beginning to show some real signs of life.
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
A welcome relief for sure
But boy did we almost not screw it all up today. This is what pressure can do to you
Question marks remain over our test batting but I still maintain that Pakistan's current bowling attack of Aamer, Asif, Gul and Kaneria is better than Australia's. They are simply not the team they were from 1999 to 2007. They are very beatable esp. away from home
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
........We almost did :D
Asif.. the aussies are a beatable team at home too.. if Pak would have won the sydney test like they should have, things could have been much different for the rest of that series.
I’m glad Pak won today.. but honestly I am a little pissed off about the fact that they lost 7 wickets while chasing 180… that is not cool ![]()
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
Thank GOD v didnt messed it up this time .....
Pressure does funny things. And Australians are masters at ratcheting it up. I remember India vs Aus in 2001 - last test in Chennai, we needed 150 odd to win, were around 120-130 for 2, and ended up losing 6 more wickets, finally just scrambled home to win by 2 wickets. Harbhajan had to score the winning runs. One of those times, like this, when the win is all that matters, not how it came.
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
Congratulations everyone.
But not a convincing win. Pakistan only needed 40 runs with 7 wickets in hand, and yet the match turned into a "thrilling finale"?!
Not good.
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
Giant.. but. but...I want these teams to get over this nonsense of AUS being never say die fighters.. f that.. they are not the same team anymore.. they should have been beaten in a demoralizing way.. so that they think about it on the flight home.. not they still will think that "not bad after being shot down for 88 on day 1.. we stretched them till the end"....
but yeah.. either way.. they are beaten.. still no series win for punter in ENG.. punter's end is near!
Pressure does funny things. And Australians are masters at ratcheting it up.
But Giant, we are not talking 'gali ki kirket'. At this level many a times the difference between world champion and any other team is being mentally strong. After OZ's performance on the first day, Pakistan should have inflicted a worst defeat to that mediocre team. I don't know why Pakistanis always feel under pressure from them.
Anyway. It is time to celebrate. So I will not continue with this discussion. :)
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
^^Sharaabee, khoji:
Sure, a complete thrashing would have been better, and shown mental strength. But one step at a time...before this test, even a close game seemed far-fetched. So this is fine for now. Young team, will learn and get better. They deserve some slack. When they are all seasoned veterans and then if they crumble under pressure, can attack them.
Ponting's pictures were icing on the cake for me (I hate the guy) - he looked like he had bitten into a karela.

Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
Cheers to that Giant.
India's turn now to beat up the Aussies next. I want to see a Sehwag 200 against Johnson and co.
Not only does he look like as if he has bitten into a karela, he actually looks like a karela himself. haha.
Re: Pakistan - Please don't mess this up!!
