How will that make a difference. Farhat bats 30 minutes before he gives a catch in slip, Butt does it in the first 5 minutes.

excellent analysis. butt usually goes in first over, at least farhat gives u a few overs and a chance to curse him out a few times bcuz of those edges!

so in this combnation inzi will have all sorts of cards available to him. He will have dashing opener(nazir) with more steady opener, hafeez, than an anchor person(younis) follow by solid batsmen(inzamam, yousaf) for middle order. the basic job for these guys is to take the inning till 30-35 over and than give 20 - 15 overs to afridi, razzaq, akmal, malik and to some extent naveed can do hitting also. in bowling daprtment asif and naveed to start and razzaq to follow on first change and than the three spinners afridi, malik and hafeez.
and for world cup just add shoaib to that list in place of naveed .

I think he's a certainty at the moment.
Also, he's sure to play on those flat WI wkts, so we ought to play the x1 which we intend to field in the world cup, adjusted for injuries.

Does anyone have any Info on the 17th player from the ODI squad to head back home. Who is it going to be? According to dawn, it would be announced at the end of the 3rd test either Kamran Akmal or Imran Farhat.
Opener Imran Farhat or wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal are likely to be that fifth player.

^^ this news, if true is a good news indeed, this will test Haider and how how good he is behind the stumps. Moreover the hijacked space of the openers will get some upliftment, but sadly with same old faces.
IMO the team for the 1st ODI:
1) Hameed
2) Nazir
3) Younis
4) Yousef
5) Inzi
6) Razzaq
7) Haider
8) Rana
9) Rehman
10) Shabbir
11) Asif
Call me old school but 5-5-1 strikes a right balance in Pakistan team, it adds a bit pressure on the top 5 batsmen, and remind them thats batting is their primary job. I know I have left out Malik, Afridi and Hafeez. but you need specialist for certain job, sadly Pakistan team would not understand it.

^ 5-5-1 is a recipe for Test matches not for ODIs. 4-3/4-4/3 (4 bat, 3/4 al rounder-incl wk, 3/4 bowl) works for ODIs.

^ well his primary job is to catch the red cherry behind the stumps, Akmal has caught on butteryfinger’O’fobia, I will take a w-keeper who produce 100% behind the wicket and can contribute 15-20 odd runs.

I hope Nazir plays well.. he just has an average of 18 in last 6 domestic games (one day)

It’s confirmed and unfortunately its not Kamran Akmal that is going back home. It is Imran Farhat who will not be playing in the ODI vs SA.
SA ODI: Five players leaves for Johannesburg
LAHORE: Five players including Shabbir Ahmed, Abdul Razzaq, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Rehman and Imran Nazir who were earlier selected as replacements by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have flown to Johannesburg to play one-day matches against South Africa.
Batsmen Faisal Iqbal, Asim Kamal, spinner Danish Kaernia, medium pacer Shahid Nazir and **Imran Farhat **will be returning home soon.
The selection committee had approved the replacements in view of players performance and those who will be playing in the one-day matches are the best available choice", a PCB spokesman said.
Shabbir Ahmed and Abdul Razzaq have passed the fitness test whereas as Imran Nazir was selected on the basis of his impressive performance in domestic cricket, he added
