Pakistan: Middle order specialist batsmen

After openers (Yasir and Imran in ODI) We have Yousuf Youhanna, Inzamamul Haq. Who should be other middle order batsman if we were to have 5 specialist batsmen?

Both Saleem and Younis are not good enough, Misbah couldn’t prove himself much in whatever chances he got. Please don’t talk about bringing oldies back (Saleem Malik, Ijaz or whatever), thanks.

Saeed Bin Nasir.
Who has been continiously ignored by the selectors.
He was picked for the A Team Indian tour, and only played 1 match.
If Pakistan has a good useful lower order, then I don't think we need a 3rd specialist middle order batsman.

Asim Kamal... Still needs to play his first ODI but he can be a good prospect for 5th specialist batsman.

Asim Kamal. He has the ability to take burden off of Inzi, and Yoyo and help Pakistan middle-order.

we need someone who can also bowl a bit cuz i dont like this idea of PLAYING MATCHES WITH ONLY 5 BOWLERS... We used to have so many bowlers when sohail and malik were in the team.. Perhaps we should have Shoaib Malik at #4, Inzamam at #5, Moin at #6, followed by Razzaq, Azhar and then 3 bowlers,, This will give us 6 bowlers, Batting might be a bit brittle but I believe Shoaib Malik is a talented batsman and he will settle down pretty well at #4 slot.

I agree Saeed Bin Nasir should be given a chance.
But i still belive Younis Khan is not a bad choice either. Yes he has not delievered consistently and thats a shame but he is one player who is calm when batting second i.e. participated in some successful chases which is our weak point; and has delivered in pressure situations, so we can say he has what it takes to be there at number 5 But he needs to be consistent. I would say 'he is good enough' but not consistent enough.

saby, you mentioned that centuries should not be "scale" of one's performance. That is true. But we should be able to look at total number of runs, average, opponents. Right?

Anyway, I am not an advocate of Saleem or a Younis-hater, I just thought Saleem has performed better so far. Also, I just checked that Misbah has played 11 ODIs and his average is 35.xx, and he has played mostly out of Pakistan for those ODIs.

2 is couple. :)

But he has 2 or perhaps more fifties.

Don't discount Naveed Latif, he played really well against India for the A team. Saeed Bin Naser was on that team as well, I think he was ok too - but I don't recall hearing too much about his accomplishments in that tournament. I think Latif had one huge score in that tournament.
Asim Kamal is also a definite possibility but apparently he is know a Test speacilist.

Asim Kamal got one chance in test and he has been labelled “test man” already :smack:

Naved Latif scored I think quick 128 for a lost cause, but good play :k:
Saeed didn’t get much chance though, I think.

^Where is Saeed known from, is he a good Pakistan domestic player or something?
i agree that we are mssing one good middle order player, that is crucial to success. It used to be Younis Khan, I think he has been given enough chances and has'nt grabbed them.
There were also a bunch of other players tried earlier this year who have dissapeared since then - Faisal Aithar, Rana Naveed Hasan, Farhan Adil,,,,,,,,,

I would give Aasim Kamal a few chances. The problem with Pakistani batsmen is that more and more of them are playing with the high back-lift these days. And the guy who has the highest back-lift of 'em all if Salim Elahi. I think that makes him suspect against fast inswinging yorkers (Lee, Bond?). I hope this trend is curbed.

If Asim fails, I'd give Saeed a chance. But Elahi needs to be dropped, IMO.

How would know about talented players like Saeed bin Nazir & Farhan Adil when PCB has ignored them but continue to select safarshi players for both National & A squad.
Naveed Latif (w/major technical flaws) have players like Naveed Latif who has failed twice in ODI, Imran Nazir who performed poorly in domestic cricket but he was selected for A squad (Why? don't we select player based on performance?)
You can even teach monkey to play cricket and if you continue to work with him and keep giving him chances he will eventually learn how to play cricket.
PCB has history of ignoring true talent (Saeed, Farhan and Misbah) for A squad and National Squad. I hope in the future PCB will change their bias selection polices and work with talented player.

I think Naved Latif has sum gr8 potential to fill up number 3 place. Performed well in the A matches. I think he will get a chance after the India tour.

The Game Responds:

*Taufeeq Umer as opener alongwith Imran Farhat; and Yaasir Hameed should bat at 3. The shmucks should let Taufeeq bat in one dayers as well; labelling him as a "Test player" is idiotic. People, That Is All.*

I will sugest little change here.Let taufeeq and farhat open outside subcontinent but in subcontinent go with yasir and Farhat.
:k:

I think Misbah-ul-Haq deserves a place in the team:k:
