Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - The Pakistan army launched a strike on a militant camp in a tribal area bordering Afghanistan, killing most of the 25-30 militants present, military spokesman Major-General Shaukat Sultan said on Tuesday.

“The operation was carried out at around 1:55 a.m. British time in Zamzola in South Waziristan, based on information that 25 to 30 miscreants, including foreigners were present there,” Sultan said.

“I can’t tell you the exact number of casualties, but most of them were killed,” he added. Sultan said helicopters were used in the attack.

another attack, lets see what was there!

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

what was there or not there, I really hope that the favor is returned to the coward paki army in the same coin; just like what happened in Dargai..

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

How exactly is the Pakistani Army cowardly?

These people are harboring foreign terrorists which is a startegic threat to Pakistan. If these people are too dum to realize this then they deserve whats happening to them

In any case, the Pakistani Army only targets foreign jihadists and not local population but if they support these people then they are also open to attacks

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

It's hard to know whether this strike was done by American's or claimed/covered up by Pakistan

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

At the end of the day, it remains undeniable fact that the Pakistani army is acting only as the foot soldiers for the US, and carrying out their dirty work.

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

Long live the Pakistan Army. :k:

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

That's your brainwashed probably Salafist opinion. Pakistan Army is after those people that want to cause harm to Pakistan. i.e. those people that blow up soldiers, that defy laws, that bring in foreign terrorists and murderers that have killed people. Your support for them makes you one of them. If you obey the rules of Pakistan, you will not get blown up, it's very simple.

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

What you fail to comprehend is that Pakistani Army is attacking these terrorists because they are anti-pakistan

you are just too brainwashed to realize this simple fact

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

Pakistan army has always been a professional and responsible one! These people - the foreign and local terrorists taking their people to no where! Perhaps to stone age again!

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

You guys are all in a denial. The strike on a madrassah last year was in fact conducted by the US. The Paki army stooges were left to take the blame of murdering innocent Pakistani children out of humiliation. The US frequently takes over the air space along the border regions with Afghanistan, and sends drones un challenged into the Paki air space. Where’s the coward Pakistani army to defend its territory.

The same coward Paki army that got pummeled by the Mighty India on Siachin and now begging to get the area to be declared as a neutral territory  The professionalism of the coward Paki army only boils down to shining shoes, and cleaning vehicles and acting as stooges and foot soldiers for their master; the US, and murdering their own innocent civilians.

In real combats they run away with their tails between the legs, and with their pants down :jhanda:

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

This one might be a show for the new Defence Secretary, Robert Gates, who is visiting. At least the borders guards are pro Taliban.

KABUL. Afghanistan (AP) – Taliban fighters seeking to regain power in Afghanistan are taking advantage of a recent peace deal with the Pakistan government to dramatically increase attacks on U.S. and allied forces in eastern and southeastern Afghanistan, several American military officials said Tuesday.

Lt. Gen. Ken Eikenberry, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, said in an interview that Taliban attacks surged by 200 percent in December, and a U.S. military intelligence officer said that since the peace deal went into effect September 5 the number of attacks in the border area has grown by 300 percent.

Eikenberry did not explicitly criticize the peace deal with tribal leaders in the border area and he said he is confident that U.S. and NATO forces are going to dominate on the decisive battlefields.

But he predicted, “It’s going to be a violent spring,” and other officials said it has become commonplace for the Pakistani military at border outposts to turn a blind eye to infiltration of Taliban fighters.

Col. Thomas Collins, the chief spokesmen for U.S. forces in Afghanistan, said the Pakistan peace deal has backfired.

“The enemy is taking advantage of that agreement to launch attacks into Afghanistan,” Collins said.

Eikenberry spoke to a group of U.S. reporters traveling with Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who was receiving closed-door briefings from military officials on the resurgence of the Taliban in recent months. Gates was accompanied by Marine Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Gates has publicly expressed concern that a resurgent Taliban could put areas of Afghanistan in danger of reverting to a haven for terrorists. U.S. forces invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 to oust the Taliban, and although gains have been made to stabilize the country, the Taliban has recently made inroads.

“The enemy does use both sides of the border, inside Pakistan as well,” with senior Taliban leaders directing insurgent operations in some cases from sanctuaries on the Pakistan side, Eikenberry said.

Other U.S. military officers who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity because the information included sensitive intelligence, painted an even bleaker picture of the result of the September peace deal, which the Pakistan government portrayed as a vehicle for assisting U.S. efforts in Afghanistan.

**U.S. officials recently gained firsthand evidence that Pakistani forces at a border control point opposite Afghanistan’s Khowst province turned a blind eye to infiltration of a substantial number of Taliban fighters. U.S. troops at a base known as Forward Operating Base Tillman urged the Pakistanis to block the infiltrating fighters but nothing was done, one U.S. military intelligence officer said.

“This is common,” another intelligence officer said.**

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

And is anyone keeping track of how many times the US has bombed Pakistan?
Killing of Nur Muhammad, Al Libbi, dinner party for Zawahiri,...?

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

get ur facts straight dude… ur pulling things way out of proportion.

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

Thank god there are brave arses like you around who can see the truth for what it is… What would the world do without chat rooms generals like you…
You know absolutely nothing of Siachin…

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

I am surprised as these so called terrorists or Anti-Pakistan were fighting for the sacred cause of Allah and they were dubbed as patriot when they were fighting against Russian.
I dont understand how that Jihad has turned into Terrorism and Patriotism has changed into Anti-Pakistanism. Is is the head of the state who has the authority to change these analogies. People are the same, cause is the same, actions are the same and they are the same friends but now they are changed into enemies.
As far as Army is concern, Army is to obey orders, it is their sole task. We can blame and condemn the one ordering such actions and not the executers.

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

That is because Russia illegally invaded Afghanistan and foreign volunteers were welcomed to fight the Russian Army and help their fellow muslims.

But now these people are there just for the sake of jihad as most Afghanis were glad the Taliban is gone and so there is no need for them to do jihad.

That is like Hezbollah fighting Israel when Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982 and 2006. But if Lebanon and Israel make peace, then there is no need for Hezbollah and if they continue to attack Israel, then Hezbollah will be called terrorists.

Its simple as that.

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

Why? Is truth too much to handle. Dishonorable are the ones in the Paki Army that died in the state of utter shame, fighting and trying to kill their own Muslim brothers. Too bad that heedless folks like you still don't get it. I really hope that the soldiers from the Paki army are hunted like the rabid dogs and killed with no mercy just like the way they are innihilating the innocent tribesmen of the Frontier. It's coming - just wait.

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

^^ Since you think that Pakistani soldiers need to be killed like rabid dogs, you have just proven that anyone who criticizes the Pakistani Army is not doing out of a sense that what the army is doing is not benefitting Pakistan but rather killing terrorists which you seem to support

thanks for proving to everyone that anyone who criticizes the army is more interested in tribal BS than the integrity of Pakistan

Re: Pakistan launches air strike on militant camp

Abdullah k,
You may have your opinions, but kindly make sure you dont insult Pakistan's national Army the way you are, please use respectable language to air your views.
