KARACHI: The Pakistan cricket authorities have nominated the name of former Test captain Majid Khan for the elections of the chairman of the influential International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket Committee.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources, the name of Majid, who has remained a former chief executive of the Board, has been sent to the ICC which is prepared for the elections which would be held in June.
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar is the current chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee and sources said Pakistan has not been overly impressed with his decisions and behind-the-scene role in influencing key decisions within the ICC.
“It is no secret that Pakistan is not very satisfied with the working of the former Indian captain as head of the committee playing and they feel the time has come now for a change at the head of this committee,” a source said
Gavaskar only last week played a pivotal role in rejecting all four nominations of Pakistan for the post of match referee while succeeding in getting fellow countryman Javagal Srinath appointed to this post.
Pakistan’s nominations, Colonel (retd) Naushad Ali, Talat Ali, Pervez Sajjad and Hasan Jameel were all rejected in the selection process.
The source said Srinath, interestingly, was on the Bowling Action Review Group (BRG) which heard the appeal of Pakistan pacer Shabbir Ahmed against the 12-month ban imposed on him for having an illegal bowling action.
Pakistan, apparently, feels Majid is a strong candidate for the elected post given his strong background and contacts with the ICC and members boards.

Some1, the problem is not just about the Shabbir. If Srinath was involved in that comettee, he did a fine job. Shabbir does chuck sometimes and has been reported on three occassions and needed this ban more than anyone else.
The issue is the biasness of Sunny. He has been a big disappointment as cricket comettee chief. There were numerous bakwaas changes were introduced in the game during his tenure and most of them failed and recalled.

i think it was gavaskar who commented on ganguly's 180 something that ganguly's innings is better than saeed's 194 cuz he scored all the runs himself without help from anyone else (saeed had a runner for him)....
its comments like these that show the real worth of a person....

Looks like Khan Shaib got Big Danda
I think he meant Khan Sahib against Gavaskar and not Gavaskar against Pakistan.
Khan Sahib dismissed him 11 times in his career. Second bowler after Underwood to dismiss gavaskar most number of times. Holding also shared this record with Khan Sahib. Underwood dismissed him on 12 occasions.

ICC recieved more thappaRs in his time as chief of cricket affairs than his predecesors collectively. His batting technique were truely great, but he is one rotten brain for the governing body. A turtle by speed a scorpion by nature.

Yes and gets his own little (literally) indian baboos appointed as refrees and rejects all pakistanis. Just wait till you guys face Asif again....as a matter of fact why dont you start working on exuses/blames now so you will have a decent one by then.
