Not to take anything away from the seriousness of a drunk pilot flying with 350 passengers, however, you have to keep it in perspective. This kinda thing has happened to many airlines, so PIA is not the first one, where a drunk pilot is about to board a flight. Most airlines have procedures to detect such behavior. PIA may not have taken the bull by the horn, yet, cz of the preconceived misconception that no “Pakistani ever drinks alcohol so it is a moot point”, but they should remediate that by making and enforcing policies. Also lower level staff who can clearly see that the pilot is drunk, should have the ability to call a supervisor and take care of the matter, so the airline is not embarassed by Police making the arrest at the airport.
