Amongst all the bad news about PIA that makes news this is one time, when PIA is in the limelight. It will be the first airline to take delivery of Boeing’s newest offering, the Worldliner Boeing 777.
The new, 301-passenger, long-range 777 is expected to make its first flight in March and will be delivered first to Pakistan International airlines, its launch customer for the new version of the 777, in January of 2006.
Re: Pakistan International in the Spot Light - In a Good Way
Hahaha... I don't thinfk flying from US to Pak has so much hand carry, compared to, lets say Bangkok-Pakistan route. The khaipiyas literally block the aisles with their bags and the crew is struggling to serve chai-coffee.
Anyway, the range of this plane is impressive. In the earlier discussion on Airbus 380, it was mentioned that rather than going for planes that can fit 500-800 people, the aircraft makers should focus on longer range airplanes with faster speed, to reduce the number of stops, and get ppl from Point A to point B in the shortest time possible.
Maybe now, with this airplane, PIA can link California to Pakistan via non-stop flight. That will be sweet!
Re: Pakistan International in the Spot Light - In a Good Way
Faisal bhai,
Will you be able to go from SFO to Pakistan without stopping over in Europe/Asia?
That would be awsome. Will cut down travel time by 50% atleast.
Re: Pakistan International in the Spot Light - In a Good Way
Beta CM that’s where they need our help. It costs $10/month to educate a child in Pak according to the ad they keep on running on ary for citizensfoundation.org
I hope the money is going to educate a child and not buying planes :halo:
Re: Pakistan International in the Spot Light - In a Good Way
I flew to Pakistan from Houston back in Aug 04 and on the flight over, we met a PIA guy who, we ended up starting a conversation and he told us that in 2005, PIA will be flying non stop from all their N. America destinations to Pakistan... So I guess these are the planes that will do that...which I think is awesome....
I was totally impressed by PIA service when I flew back to Pakistan this time...and now no stopovers...even better..
Re: Pakistan International in the Spot Light - In a Good Way
They have been running from Houston-Karachi since July 2004. My parents visited me when I was in Michigan last year. Their port of entry coming in was Chicago. They went back via Houston though after visiting my brother here in Texas. They have two flights a week I believe. One of Wed and the other on either Saturday or Sunday.
Re: Pakistan International in the Spot Light - In a Good Way
they do.. Houston Lahore.. I think started in May 2004.. or maybe March..
anyway.. PIA should be looking at the Airbus instead.. we need to haul about 500 people plus their luggage.. not just 310.. that will work nicely for those Pak-Dubai flights..
Re: Pakistan International in the Spot Light - In a Good Way
^ With this airplane, they may actually consider a non-stop flight to Australia.
The interesting thing about routes to Pakistan is, that generally airlines require reciprocity. So, if PIA is serving Karachi-Melbourne (lets say), Qantas will want reciprocity to serve Karachi from Melbourne too. However, most airlines shy away from serving Pakistan. Thus PIA gets a monopoly over the route. Karachi-New York is a perfect example. PIA is the only airline that flies that route. No American airline even comes to Pakistan.
