Pakistan hunt for bowling talent
Pakistan has launched a Pop Idol-style hunt for talented fast bowlers to face England later this year.
The Pakistan Cricket Board will hold trials in 10 cities across Pakistan and the best fast bowlers outside first-class competition will be picked.
“We need to have a better combination of fast bowlers and need to explore more talent,” said Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq.
Six selected bowlers will join the national camp for the England series.
Pakistan have struggled to select a consistent pace attack since the retirement of 1990s greats Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.
The Ashes series has generated a lot of hype and interest and after England’s performances we expect the same when they tour Pakistan

Shoaib Akhtar, the world’s fastest bowler but has been plagued by injuries, as has Mohammad Sami.
Another front-line pace bowler, Shabbir Ahmed, can only feature in the series against England if his action is cleared by the International Cricket Council in time.
The talent scouts, a team of former Test players headed by national selector Ehteshamuddin will start the search in Quetta on 20 September.
The final selection will be in Lahore on 16 and 17 October.
And the first Test against England begins in Multan on 12 November.
Pakistani authorities expect the tour to draw crowds and generate more revenue following their Ashes victory.
“The Ashes series has generated a lot of hype and interest and after England’s performances we expect the same when they tour Pakistan,” said the PCB’s Saleem Altaf
"I think we will have a lot of interest in the series and there should be more sponsorship and crowd participation.
“People will want to see Andrew Flintoff and Steve Harmison in action.”
