Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

Some classified reports have come out based upon NATO documents in which they claim that Pakistan is funding and helping afghan taleban. Add to this the allegation of mike Mullen is September last year that haqqani network is the veritable arm of isi.

The source of the news is bbc Asia, published in tribune too please feel free to copy it here.

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

We need to look into salala checkpost attack in the light of American allegations too.

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

Its interesting as in addition to the article talking about ISI supporting Taleban, its saying that the penetration of taleban in Afghan populace is very deep (people trust the taleban more as compared to the government); Afghan military/police are also supporting taleban and that some from the Afghan government are also joining the taleban cause. No wonder after 10 years the Americans are dying to negotiate an end to the war in Afghanistan now.

Pakistan is helping Afghan Taliban, says Nato report

**The Taliban in Afghanistan are being directly assisted by Pakistani security services, according to a secret Nato report seen by the BBC.
**
The leaked report, derived from thousands of interrogations, claims the Taliban remain defiant and have wide support among the Afghan people.

It alleges that Pakistan knows the locations of senior Taliban leaders.

A BBC correspondent says the report is painful reading for international forces and the Afghan government.

Pakistan has strenuously denied any links with the Taliban on previous occasions.

“We have long been concerned about ties between elements of the ISI and some extremist networks,” said US Pentagon spokesman Captain John Kirby, adding that the US Defence Department had not seen the report.

**‘Informational’
**
The BBC’s Quentin Sommerville in Kabul says the report - on the state of the Taliban - fully exposes for the first time the relationship between the Pakistani intelligence service (ISI) and the Taliban.
**
The report is based on material from 27,000 interrogations with more than 4,000 captured Taliban, al-Qaeda and other foreign fighters and civilians.
**
**It notes: “Pakistan’s manipulation of the Taliban senior leadership continues unabatedly”. It says that Pakistan is aware of the locations of senior Taliban leaders.

The report states: “As this document is derived directly from insurgents it should be considered informational and not necessarily analytical.”**

**Afghan civilians frequently prefer Taliban governance over the Afghan government, usually as a result of government corruption. **Despite Nato’s strategy to secure the country with Afghan forces, the secret document details widespread collaboration between the insurgents and Afghan police and military.

Lt Col Jimmie Cummings, a spokesman for Nato’s International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) in Afghanistan, said the document was “a classified internal document that is not meant to be released to the public”.

“It is a matter of policy that documents that are classified are not discussed under any circumstances,” he said.

**The report also depicts the depth of continuing support among the Afghan population for the Taliban, our correspondent says. **It paints a picture of al-Qaeda’s influence diminishing but the Taliban’s influence increasing, he adds.

**Taliban influence

In a damning conclusion, the document says that in the last year there has been unprecedented interest, even from members of the Afghan government, in joining the Taliban cause.

It adds: “Afghan civilians frequently prefer Taliban governance over the Afghan government, usually as a result of government corruption.”

The report has evidence that the Taliban are purposely hastening Nato’s withdrawal by deliberately reducing their attacks in some areas and then initiating a comprehensive hearts-and-minds campaign.

It says that in areas where Isaf has withdrawn, Taliban influence has increased, often with little or no resistance from government security forces. And in many cases, with the active help of the Afghan police and army.

When foreign soldiers leave, Afghan security forces are expected to take control.

However according to the report, rifles, pistols and heavy weapons have been sold by Afghan security forces in bazaars in Pakistan.****

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

If you look at this report although it allege Pakistani support for Taliban. But also mention wide spread support for Taliban in Afghanistan which make situation very confusing.

The question is that if the afghan resistance driven by Pakistan, the clear answer is no, according to report even afghan security forces support Taliban.

On Pakistan position it is very difficult to prove, in any case Pakistan could not to oblivious to what happening in its backyard.

US already in process of negotiating with Taliban to secure a face saving withdrawal, all he want its so called "hired gun" i.e Pakistan to hit Taliban hard to force them to negotiate on favorable term.

Since US is already in process of cut and lose, it is in the best interest of Pakistan to keep open channels with Taliban, so they would not have hostile neighbor once US leave.

At this stage whatever you call but it is not in Pakistan's interest to burn bridge with Talaiban.

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

So is this report at par with the intelligence report stating about WMDs of Iraq? this report true or not, somebody is paving their way to find an excuse to attack Pakistan...

Look at the news and related news

1) Pakistan not doing enough
2) We can't tell Pakistan about Osama Operation because they might leak the info
3) Pakistan harboring terrorists
4) Pakistan supporting Taliban
5) Pakistan creating hurdles in peace process
6) Pakistan is reason US loosing in Afghanistan

All this to say, had it not been Pakistan, we had won against Taliban, so inorder to win against Talibs, Pakistan need to be eliminate or weaken to the level where it cannot interfere.. nothing new, as usual American vampires looking for another country to destroy and kill people!!!

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

Whatever the truth is.. it's time for Pakistani army to give up any global agenda. The time is over for these games. These global agendas on the name of strategic depth have put Pakistan on a ticking time bomb. Let Taliban-Nato deal with each other.. we have enough problems of our own to deal with.

As far as US is concerned.. surely if another major terrorist attack happens on their soil they will be under tremendous pressure to attack some country to satisfy their own public. Pakistan has to be very cautious and this situation needs to be handled with some vision. We can not blame everything on US.. we need to clean our house as well. If we don't do it ourself I am afraid it will be done by someone else.. and that too at the expense of our economy/people. Army should think all these factors before getting in to some global agendas.. otherwise people will be justified to consider our army as the biggest security risk for the country..

I am not implying US are angels.. but we should avoid being total idiots..!!!

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

well what is the problem according to America Taliban is no longer a terrorist outfit, Mullah Omar is no longer on their list and they are talking to Taliban and so is Afghan govt.

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

every nation with population of 180 million ppl should have global agenda otherwise u can not survive....

As far as taliban is concerned;taliban r not an enemy of usa so y so hue and cry about pakistani support to taliban....

Usa it self is supporting militant outfits in iran......

pakistan can not leave afghanistan alone it should be vigilant enough to check activities of any other countries acting from afghanistan against intrests of pakistan....

u can leave ur neighbours if u have iron curtains like n.korea but once u have free market, freedom for common ppl u should be more vigilant ............

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

Yup we are :cobra: Kar lo jo karna hay :naraz: No do more :nahi:

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

^^^

This Zaid Hamid mentality is the biggest threat for our national security.. Do you have an idea what is the fall back scenario. Have you ever used your brain for thinking. You don't have oil for more than 15 days in the country. Can you imagine what can happen if they just put sanctions on Pakistan and seal the sea ports. How will your army mobilize.. on camels and donkeys?

More than 40% of our countrymen live below poverty line.. means they earn less than 2 dollars a day. What kind of global agenda you can afford with this state of bankrupt economy?

Let's assume US is a big culprit.. and Nato is preparing ground to start a war against Pakistan.. should we become so stupid that we walk right in to their trap? Is this the intelligence level prevailing in our country???

We can not thank God enough that Shahzad Tanveer's explosive laden van did not explode at Time Square New York.!!!

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

Sir Zaid Hamid Qibla will ride on the black donkey... and if you don't know, donkey don't need petrol or diesel to run... all they need is danda and Zaid Hamid can get one... and because there will be sanctions, electricity won't be available so Zaid Hamid would be shouting his lungs out to persuade people to join him... his donkey will take turns and both will try to talk the nation into it

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

We should bow down infornt of them like before we are doing and say Yes Sir u r right tell us what can we do ? Should we lick their feet bla bla :cobra: Is there any guarantee that they ll believe us ? Nope not at all …
We have killed out thousands people in this war and now there is less bomb blast so USA is not happy with this situation and saying do more …

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

y cann’t US do all this to n.korea and syria…

even during vietnam war vietnam forces did not have shortage of fuel…

y pakistan is so weak…

even talibans not using donkeys and camels so y pakistani forces will have to use camels :hmmm:

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

Have you heard something called, live today to fight tomorrow...

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

by befriending US i dont think so....

US will not allow pakistan to be powerful like uk,france or even like israel so i dont think there is anything left for pakistan in friendship with us.......

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

^^^
So we should attack India and Afghanistan simultaneously.. after all Allah is on our side.

@Sannan
Who is saying that our army should start an armed assault towards our innocent citizens. I am saying rather totally opposite. If Taliban/anyother groups are using our soil to carry their agendas in Afghanistan.. they should be asked to leave our country immediately for the safety of our citizens..

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

Who the hell is USA or NATO to instruct us ? We are free to make our decision and they are not our Masters. We should tell them that don’t interfere in our internal or external matters.
BTW, Who is saying attack on India or israil ? I believe Live & let live :cobra:

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

:nahi:

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

having other corrupt government is not going to help afghan people...

as far as pakistan is concerned pakistan should come out of us shadow....

if with nukes u can not gain respect i dont think in future u can.......

Re: Pakistan helping taleban:NATO

They are the one who supply us with the very internet and the forum we are having this debate

They are the one who have supplied us with all the military supplies to date

They are the one who provide us with the parts so that we can assemble them as use as cars, engines, satellite, bulb, tube-light, super computers to run our Stock markets, network equipments to run the show, the diesel engine which is needed for agriculture and industrial development, the supply you with life saving drugs when you are all down and ill.. should i say more

in simple words, they don’t have to bomb you to send you to the stone-age they simply have put sanctions on you will be there by yourself…

instead of getting all this egoistic, what we need to do is, transfer the knowledge and develop the technology, and then we can tell them go to hell..
