LOL.. drama. When is the last time that Pakistani fighter jets attacked India? 1971, and even then India started the war.

First of all, it was Pakistan that attacked Indian bases first in 1971, unless you are referring to Indian troops going into Bangla Desh (which has a complex background and cannot really be counted as an attack).

But more importantly, mis-adventures such as Kargil and the past and now current attacks across the LOC clearly demonstrate the aggressive nature of Pakistan viz a viz India and therefore my question, why USA is giving them any weapons

so entering east pakistan is not considered attack under what international convention you guys crossed the border to east pakistan and still thinking pakistan started the war.

India is bigger country compared to Pakistan, has bigger army and resources, why would a country like Pakistan would like to invade it first?

Because US knows 4 F-16's is not going to do anything.
Especially since the entire India-Pakistan border is under covered completly by anti-aircraft missiles and most of the IAF airbases are very close to the border.

Even PAF has got its bases close to Indian border.It does not make any difference.Inspite of their proximities we had two full scale wars.

Congress has halted the Bush Administration plans to apply upgrades to the F16's...for the moment anyways.

Without the upgrades, i'm not so sure how strong or up to date the F16'z are.

It's a shame, they were finalized and paid for in the 90's and Pakistan is just receiving them....

^This had happened earlier also ,but laterU.S administration rewarded Pakistan with a huge cache of sophisticated weapons,other than F-16's.

Pak should get the Chinese J-10 Fighters which are comparable to F-16's......

don't know why Pak Air Force is so obsessed with F-16's....just get the chinese to give us their J-10 fighters and we are good to go

agreed, lol, they make good small items reliably these days like lighters and torches, radios but anything bigger than a microwave and its "no money back or exchange" if it breaks down

Actually, i wouldn't underestimate Chinese capability to mass produce defensive gadgets. JF10 is a better choice than F16 in my opinion. USA is far ahead with a F22 in the battle training and we're still drooling over a fighter that is 2 generations old.

Not that i know a lot about F16 capabilities, but still. Without upgrades, i'm not so sure how F16s perform head to head with Sukhoi.

I think I know why PAF is so obsessed with F-16s... it might sound stupid but us Pakistanis are the champions when it comes to superstitious beliefs.

Since, F-16s did well in the 80s and have had a lot of success in the world as far as air combat is concerned, the superstitious Pakistanis (no matter how educated they become) tend to go for the same thing over and over again because it worked in the past.

Other than that, I do not have any other explanation as to why we still have those fighters and continue to acquire a 30 40 year old fighter jet.

Other than JF-17, and limited numbers of J-10, it would serve Pakistan better if PAF was equiped with aircrafts like Eurofighter or gripen.

^ agreed...... f-16 is a overrated plane what are its supposed success
1-osirak raid , owe more to superior isreali pilots and again was a accurate strike mision
2- supposed f-16 claims by PAF against late floggers most likely fabricated, only confirmed kills against bombtrucks like frogfoots and fitters
3-IDAF success against outnumbered fishbeds and early floggers with no jammers or AWACS

but one practical reason why f-16 is probably is prefered since a whole generation of pilots have been trained on them and we have a huge reserve of pilots already trained on them.
in a big conflict f-16 wud have been no better than any other 4th generation fighter. esp. early f-16 in 80s were severely limited by lack of BVR weapons.
Part of the myth was created to aggresively market this plane to NATO and allies in 80-90s

Just as PAF was in love with the F-104 in 60s only to be bitterly disappointed in 71 I think the f-16 myth has endured for a long time.
