The Indian response was swift. External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh said that if the Pakistani list were delivered, the Indian government would **“work double time to send them [those in the list] promptly back to Pakistan”. **
The fact was that Pakistan did not have a list of fugitives on hand. When questioned by the media, Aziz Khan, an additional secretary at the Pakistani Foreign Office admitted: **“There are no details as yet of the list. This will take time as we have to collect facts and information.” **
