PPPP wins from NA 144 Okara 3.
CORRECTED: U.S. Welcomes Pakistani Elections
Third paragraph of the news article has been corrected.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States on Thursday hailed Pakistan for holding elections, calling them an important milestone toward returning democracy to the country, now led by a military coup leader.
The Bush administration has found an ally in the war on terrorism in Pakistan’s leader, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who took power in a 1999 coup. But Washington is urging Musharraf to return the country to civilian rule, and called National Assembly and provincial elections on Thursday a big step.
“We welcome the holding of multi-party national and provincial elections in Pakistan today. This is an important milestone in Pakistan’s ongoing transition to democracy, and we will continue to watch this process closely. We are committed to remaining engaged in Pakistan throughout this transition,” White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said.
The United States had observers from its embassy in Islamabad and consulates elsewhere monitoring the voting process. International groups were performing similar monitoring duties as well.
At least four people were killed and 42 wounded in clashes at several polling stations.
PPPP wins from NA 49 Islamabad 2.
There is something strange in this constituency, as MMA and PML-Q had withdrawn in favour of independent (crescent group) candidate, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, but still PPPP wins.

Pakistani Groups Cry Foul After Poll Closes
And the same web site said this
Pakistani Groups Cry Foul After Poll Closes
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Two Pakistani political parties accused a rival party seen as close to the military government on Thursday of vote rigging and intimidation as a general election designed to return the country to civilian rule drew to a close.
Supporters of two former prime ministers, Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, who are barred from running in the election, accused rival workers of harassing their polling agents in southern Sindh and central Punjab provinces. Ahsan Iqbal, chief coordinator of Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), or PML(N), said a group of 25 armed men had ransacked 22 polling stations in Narowal town in Punjab province.
He accused supporters of a PML faction, the PML(Q), seen supporting military President Pervez Musharraf, of the attack.
“They assaulted polling staff and then forced PML(N) and (Bhutto’s) PPP voters to run away. Then they snatched the ballot papers from staff, stamped them and put them in the ballot boxes,” he added.
A police official in Narowal said they had detained around 16 armed people from the town.
“I don’t know which party they belonged to. But we are lodging complaints against them,” Zahoor Hussain, deputy superintendent of police, told Reuters by telephone.
Bhutto’s PPP made a series of complaints, including kidnapping of its polling agents and stuffing of bogus votes by PML(Q) supporters, in the PPP’s traditional stronghold in southern Sindh province.
“These (irregularities)…are intentionally taking place where our strongholds are and the (military) administration is watching on as silent by-standers,” said Raza Rabbani, PPP’s acting secretary general.
The PML(Q) countered with accusations of its own.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, senior vice president of PML(Q), told reporters in his home town of Gujarat in Punjab: “The opposition is creating problems where it is losing. They have beaten up our workers and tried to upset law and order.”
Thursday’s poll is supposed to return Pakistan to civilian rule three years after a Musharraf coup that deposed Sharif as prime minister. But critics say Musharraf has manipulated the vote and will retain considerable powers as president.
Musharraf extended his rule through a controversial referendum in April.
This controversy of PML(Q) has been going for a while. God knows better who's right and wrong
Prime TV reported that there has been at least a 33% turnout, thats pretty respectable.
With the exceptionally strong showing of the MMA, and PPPP I think all that pre-rigging talk will go out of the window, except for die hard losers.
