****KARACHI: **As the people across the country celebrated Pakistan Day, hundreds of thousand people from Sindh gathered in Karachi on Friday and demanded freedom for Sindh and an independent status for Balochistan. **
This demand came in a ‘Freedom March’ rally organised by the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), a Sindhi nationalist party, led by Bashir Qureshi.
While it was not possible to give an exact estimate of participants of the rally, both the lanes of MA Jinnah Road from Tibet Centre to Mazar-e-Quaid were filled with people holding flags of JSQM and wearing traditional Sindhi caps.
Most of the participants had though come from interior Sindh, a sizeable number of people from city’s localities of Lyari, Ibrahim, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Malir, Gadap, Keamari and Baloch Colony were also present.
Recalling that Sindh had joined Pakistan under the resolution of March 23, 1940 voluntarily, JSQM chief Bashir Qureshi said that this resolution has lost its value as it failed to give autonomy to the federating units.
“It is therefore not logical and moral to remain with Pakistan. We now say goodbye to this country,” Qureshi said adding that Sindh contributes 80 per cent to federal budget and produces 69 per cent gas and 75 per cent oil. But people of Sindh are deprived of all opportunities.
Referring to Urdu-speaking people, he said that “they are our berths and part of Sindhi nation. But “they should give up their obsession with two-nation theory and start supporting genuine issues of Sindh.” The anthem of Jeay Sindh was also played at the rally.
Qureshi in his address not only demanded independence for Sindh, but said that Balochistan should also be recognised as a separate homeland and the Baloch as a distinct nation.
He said that Pakistan’s territorial boundaries were not sacred and it was always possible change and alter it. Criticising ‘Punjabis,’ Qureshi said “people of Sindh have always fought against the invaders and will not let any one loot and plunder the resources of the soil.”
He also criticised the extremist religious groups who, according to him, were forcing Hindu girls to convert to Islam. JSQM leader called it yet another conspiracy against Hindus of Sindh, who are masters of this land.
“At the time of partition, communal riots were designed to compel 1.3 million Hindu to migrate. In the meantime, settlers were allotted 2.5 million acre land of Sindh under bogus claims.”
The participants of the rally who came via national and super highways first gathered at Gulshan-e-Hadeed before reaching Numaish Chowrangi from where from they marched to Tibet Centre.
They were chanting slogans “Na Khapi na khapi, Pakistan Na Khapi” (We don’t want Pakistan). Other slogans they chanted included: “Tuhinjo Desh, muhinjo Desh, Sindhu Desh, Sindhu Desh” (Your country, my country is the country of Sindhu Desh) and “Tuhinjo Rahbar, muhinjo Rahbar, GM Syed, GM Syed” (Your leader, my leader is GM Syed). Many families along with children were present in March, which had come from different districts of Sindh. Activists of other nationalist parties were also present on the occasion.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

It was a big show by JSQM yesterday, its about time the agencies started to develop the guts to hear opposing views. Killing dissenting voices is only adding fuel to fire.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

It seems that exploiting the plight of Sindhi people has become a fad. This party (along with MQM and PPP) need to stop using the ethnic and provincial card and stop chanting “punjabi hamain loot gya”.

The stat that Sindh is in is because of bad governance and corruption of the ruling parties PPP and MQM.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

You hate PPP you hate Sindhi parties. Why do you hate Sindhis? March 26, 1971, exactly Bengali declared Bangladesh, because of stupid and racist like you forced them to declare independence from Punjab. Once you force PPP to wall and PPP joins with the Sindhi nationalists party, kiss good bye Sindh. Get this down loaded in to your 10 KB memory.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

PPP has always been national party and supported existence of Pakistan. It has never used Sindhi card. After killing of BB, there was great chances of movement of separation from Punjab, but leaders of PPP intervened and stopped such potential movement. However if you force PPP to wall, joining with Sindhi separatists, will create another breakup like 1971.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

Did you attend this speech sachaydino?

Bhutto terming Bangalis as Swine and advising to go to hell:

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

You mean people should stop talking about bad governance/corruption of PPP?

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

So PPP first. Then Pakistan. Good to know your true colors.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

On topic, Bunch of thugs and blackmailers.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

This was well after the breakup, nothing to do with Bengali separation from Punjab. He just wanted approval from people to get Bangladesh recognized as separate country from Punjab. In next gatherings he got the approval.

This was on live telecast on PTV and yes I saw this and other jalsa, soon followed by this one where he got the approval. He spoke for hours, you have to listen the whole speech before you jump to any conclusion. This evil cut and past type video created by cronies of Zia-ul-Haq who were later smoked over Cholistan desert a long ago.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

Exactly retard thugs and blackmailers said the same words for Bengali, result was humiliation, shame and breakup, and shoes in the black faces of such thinkers.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

Where did I say that?

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

I don't know what the hack are you talking about? Tomorrow if army kill your leaders and a new international playboy stupid, then I will see what do you have to say about the country.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

Oh dear another party wanting to part ways with Pakistan......Gets boring after a while

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

You responded to this part of Sheeda's post:

why are you bringing up killing of BB, pushing PPP to wall? Lack of development of rural areas of Sindha has nothing to do with BB's death but only to bad governance/corruption of PPP.

Re: Pakistan Day: JSQM leader demands freedom for Sindh and Balochistan

Sindhis are not exploited by Punjabis, but by their own corrupt leaders. If you could take off your ethnic blinders you will see it.

Rampant corruption in Sindh poses a major threat - thenews.com.pk

ISLAMABAD: Security officials in Sindh have warned that if the present political dispensation does not ensure good governance and does not check massive corruption, the nationalist and separatist voices in the province would strengthen beyond anyone’s imagination, sooner rather than later.

Official sources told The News that things are going from bad to worse, both in terms of governance and corruption in the province, leading to the worsening law and order situation and a greater sense of deprivation among the people, particularly in the interior Sindh.

Corruption, it is said, has reached extreme levels and there is no check on such illegal practices. The provincial bureaucracy is badly politicised and the police and Rangers, particularly in Karachi, are completely frustrated for not getting the political backing; instead they are facing hurdles from government authorities and political parties in going after the criminals.

It is said that as the government is preparing to do some huge purchases worth Rs5 billion for the Sindh Police, a reputed Additional Home Secretary Syed Mumtaz Hussain Shah was transferred on Sunday.

While Rs5 billion for police procurement is being released, the Rangers demand for Rs01 billion for the purchase of weapons, protective clothing and vehicles is not being cleared for several months. The source alleged that it is being done because for the Rangers procurement, a transparent system is to be followed.

It is added that despite of late frustration of the DG Rangers in public, the provincial government is not ready to announce head money for 162 most wanted criminals, belonging to different political parties and groups. They are also waiting for the appointment of prosecutors.

They lament that despite the promise made by the provincial government in the presence of the prime minister, the development package for Lyari is not being announced. “Such is the situation in the province that some of the senior police officers have been approached by chief minister’s daughter Nafeesa Shah requesting the top cops to press Qaim Ali Shah to announce the Lyari package.”

Despite the recent Thar embarrassment that involves the death of nearly 200 children due to the apathy and callousness of the provincial government, it is said that things are not improving and the state of affairs remain unchanged.

The security official said that only a few months back, some key political figures were trapped in a Rs06 billion hawala scandal. These political figures were alleged to have sent their Rs06 billion abroad through a hawala agent who, interestingly, fled to Canada with the money.

No FIR could be lodged as these public figures had no justification to tell the world from where they got this money. They reportedly raised the issue with one of their political superiors, who allegedly gave them a shut up call and suggested them to forget and move on.

Just look at the board of your national position , you can see what has been given to Baluchistan , Richest one in minerals is poorest one . Look at the cabinets and all other important portfolios , You can see no Sindhi or Baluch at any important slot , You are not ready to give anything to any other and it transpires your trust to them so how you think that it can go long .
