Careful what you say...You may regret it
Careful what you wish...You just might get it!!!
(You should listen to Metallica song King Nothing)
I don't think we are missing Saqi or Mushi..Our main problem is w/ batting....Once it's fixed (on track) we will again be pumping fire!!
Pakistan Zindabad!

I disagree we for sure are missing one SPECIALIST spinner...i'll prefer
5 specialist batsmen (Saeed,Inzi,Yousuf,Younus,Misbah)
2 allrounder (Razzaq,Akram)
1 keeper (Rashid)
3 specialist bowlers (Saqi,Waqar,Shoaib)

Yeh you are right we need saqi--but saqi need to get hold of his game--I don't think county performance should be benchmark of selection--Azhar Mehmood, Shahid afridi were also devestating in county cricket but failed in Inernational games...Saqi need to forget pond sterlings and should start thinking about paying back it country!

County cricket is not a benchmark but it polishes the player to some extant for sure. And everyone go through bad patch Saqi is passing though one instead of backing him up ...team management (including captain and vice captain) are dicouraging him. If this goes on he will never be able to bowl again in big games.
Team management should let him play and regain his form before worldcup.
PS : aaah and what to talk of pond sterlings ...if thats the cretria Shoaib deserves to sit back home before any other player.

If team is not winning what does it has to do with talent ??? please make us all understand. Talent needs chances, polish and a good management to prove itslef. Wait till Pakistan's team get togather again and kick some butts around. :)

BW ji - Nobody is saying that Pakistan wont win - It has the team to win. But team management has to ask main batsmen to stay at the wicket. Improve their fitness, Improve the fielding and tell the bowlers to bowl at good length and line.
Now coming to polishing the talent and giving them Chances - Do I need to tell you how many chances Sir Afridi has got, or How many ODIs Sir Nazir has played - Sir Shoaib Malik is not ready for International cricket yet. There is no good spinner in the team, Wasim & Waqar cant win you matches all the time no matter how great they are.
Cricket is a Team game and at least 4 players need to perform well to win the match. You see most of the time Pak wins matches because of Individual brilliance of some players esp. Wasim/Waqar/Inzi/Youhana/ Saeed (with rare blasts from Afridi).

If you read AQ's post he was talking about the winning and loosing. And as far as Afridi, Nazir and Shoaib not performing ...they will be thrownout soon if they dont perform well but the missmanagement i was talking about was that team meangement is not trusting any of the player ..one bad match he is out ...a bad match from another player he is not and the first one is in again. IN-out IN-out is not a chance ...why dont trust a player and let him settle in if he fails for -6-7 continuous matches ...brish him aside ..he will learn and comeback again
No doubt we have the most talented players in the world, but management has to take the blame for majority of Pakistan's losses in the past 2 months.
They have played players who weren't needed in certain conditions and they dropped players who were must for certain matches.
Saqlain Mushtaq gets dropped in spinner freindly pitches of Morroce from just one bad game and other Pakistani bowlers get hit for 70 runs every match but they don't do anything.
Imran Nazir who failed on numerous occasions in Morroco but played the next match and sit out poor Mizbah for the whole tournament.
Danesh Kaneria another great player doesn't get a chance to play any matches but half time spinners like Malik or Afridi are bowling in crucial matches.
I think the managment of the Pakistani team is very biased towards some of the players in the team.
Both Yawar Saeed, Mudassar Nazar and Waqar Younis needs to take the blame for that.
Internal Rift?
There are so many cricket threads going on right now, I can't figure out where to put this question. Maybe the mod will be kind enough to merge this to some appropriate thread.
Someone mentioned on this board that the reason Pakistan cricket team is not performing well is due to some "internal rift". I think I read something similar in one of the Cricinfo articles too.
Since I am not following the going ons in the Pak cricket team very closely, so will someone be kind enough to explain which rift is going on and which players are involved in it, this time? :)
Thanks.
To my knowledge many people think some of the players in the team are under performing to remove Waqar Younis from the captaincy. Which I think is quite false, Waqar has been fair to all players in the team and I just can't imagine any player holding a grudge against Waqar. He brought back players like Wasim, Anwar and Latif so any of them is unlikely to do something which will harm Waqar's role as a captain.
I hope that answers your question.

can you post that crcinfo article.
Re: Re: Internal Rift?
Yeah, I found it… it is actually the match report for the match between Pak and SL in ICC Champions Tropy. Here is a quote:
***Pakistan, their defeatist body language in Sri Lanka suggesting internal strife in their ranks, briefly looked to be clawing themselves back into the game when they dismissed Marvan Atapattu and Kumar Sangakkara in the space of four balls, but Jayasuriya and Aravinda de Silva quickly regained the initiative with a 156-run partnership in 169 balls.
Yeah i agree with umair that Waqar tried to be fair with everyone in the team but since ouhana incidnt i have read that he also had a heated argument with younis khan as well so i fear this would have damaged this harmony in the team
I dont see Wasim underperforming, he bolwed his heart out against sri lanka and Laitf is one of waqar's best buddies
so i htink its just the confidence thing mostly that team is in tatters
Lets hope for the best though...
Well I won't base my own opinions but utter some facts that have been published in many newspapers(it might not be true)
Waqar Younis and Mudasser nazar never got along! They have a very bad history. I read that waqar younis was monitoring a workout session while sidelining the coach- that is he ddint want Mudasser to be involved - (not a good sign)
Waqar Younis had a heated argument with Yousuf Youhanna and sent him back home, we all the know the reasons..I would blame Waqar Younis and the management( another infamous rift)
There was another story stating that many senior players were unhappy with Waqar younis because of his stuborness by not listening to any of the suggestions made by the senior players. Waqar emphasized sticking on to his own gameplan.
Well there might be more to it but from the papers it seems like Waqar younis is the main culprit, he is known to be a short temper guy, so you can expect rifts among the teammates.
There is rumor going on that the Election mania has made to the ranks of the team.
Some of the players want to appoint their well wishers to the post of the Chairman or to the other posts of the board after the elections. So they are not performing to their best.
That is way we saw bad performances in Morocco and Kenya.
If they had played well then the chairman and the board will not had been replaced before the World Cup, including the captain.
They were not interested in winning both the tournaments, from the manager to Wasim, Inzamam, Yousuf, and Saeed took their wives with them and it affected their performances. So now we see a ban on taking the families on tours.
Some of the players have good relations (or relatives) with PPP and PML-QA’s Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
And one suspicious person who is a “builder” from Karachi was been seen and staying in the same hotel where the team was staying in Morocco. This guy has been seen in many places where the team has played.
An investigation was been launched by the Anti Corruption Unit of ICC by Col. (rtd) Noor ud Din, about this guy.
