Pakistan captaincy

AA: Definately...a world class bowler can also be a good captain...Wasim was a good Captain...he was no Imran Khan, but certainly the best skipper we had after Imran in the modern era....with Afridi, I like his aggression and his effort on the field, but his batting remains the biggest concern...in the 50 over format...will he able to stop himself going for a first ball slog with his team at 56/5 or 100/6? Highly unlikely! A couple of kamakaze dismissals and people will be calling for his head...:) Then again, he may surprise me...Id like to see him succeed...but I still believe Yousef's class is still very much evident and he is a must in the ODI side...as such Yousef playing under Afridi in ODIs while still captaining the test side...could be a major headache as well..

samd: India's board is run 20 times more professionally than the PCB. The PCB is made up of a hand picked Chairman who is picked more due to political connections than administrative competence. As far as education goes, this has been a problem for the whole country as a whole, not just cricketers. Cricket is now more than just a passtime, its a professional game with a load of money...our players want the money but dont have the professionalism that goes with it....and education has a major role in this. Without the proper education, they rarely look at the big picture...ie their thought process is more narrow...they look for self benefit, money etc rather than looking at the pride of playing for ones country, or working as a team rather than as individuals.

Sure the captain gets lots of attention...the money is a factor too...but not every player is meant to be the captain...other countries understand this...in Pakistan every player thinks he should be captaining the team....which is the reason we have so many problems to begin with...

On a side note...there are reports of an altercation between Gul and Aamir - why am I not surprised...Intikhab has never done anything but create groupings and revolts...did we ever have a revolt under Woolmer,Pybus or Lawson? No we didnt. Its because they know how to keep players in line...whereas desi coaches are only out there thinking about themselves or the size of their next paycheque.
