Anyway, i think there r confused ppl everywhere. "abcds, bbcds" etc. i think r labels just given to us becos ppl assume (or perhaps some of us really r) not that cultured...like perhaps we don't know all the customs, or language etc...and whoever said that ppl back in Pakistan r confused too bcos they r torn btwn Paki and Indian cultures, i agree...when u have diversity and ppl start mixing whether thru personal relationships/friendships, or thru media then some of us will become "confused" becos of more than one influence over our identities...i've stopped looking at it from a negative aspect, it's just a description and doesn't have to be taken as an insult (unless that was the intent)...hey, we all get confused from time to time...just wot i think.
Show me a perfectly homogenized group of people all truly happy with their "identity" and not somewhat perplexed about the definition parameters and I'll give you all a slice of cake.

the abcd or watever _bcd term was placed upon desis who call themselves "brit", "canadian" or and "american" when at the end of the day they r jus pakistani or indian...another thing mite be the fact that they are too heavily influnced by western cultue (admitted we all are, but when i mean too heavily, i'm talkin bout desi girls saying they will only go out with a white guy [yes i knew a girl in my skool, a bbcd, who was like that]) admitted it may be an extreme example...but it only takes a few people to lead to a stereo-type
wat especially would piss me off is if a saudi born desi thinks he or she is saudi...cuz the saudis simply treay u like ****...and wat they'd dearly love is for the "jawazat" people to send us back!!
i dont even know why people argue about stereo types...according to the impression i get...these so called "burgers" seem to be similar to the (insert country)bcd's (i.e. try to be EXACTLY those white people)in what they do except for the fact they were born in pakistan...??
real estate prices in khi are escalating coz after 9/11 too many muslims abroad have bought land here,in nearly every apartment complex there r many empty apartments, bought by those living abroad for the''just in case'' scenario.if that includes those who disdain pakistan while ignoring the +ves of the country n its people thats just pathetic.
I harbor as much enmity for desi in Pakistan as I do for desis abroad. The point is NOT about showing who is bad or wrong, but saying that while foriegn desis get a bad rap because some of them do not meet the pakistani-ness standards of some Pakistanis, the same way pakistanis born desis can be judged as being un-pakistani by other Pakistanis iwho have different standards.
This is not about who I have met or if I have lost hope or anything of that sort.
In simpler terms, if foriegn born pakistanis are confused about their culture and heritage, then so are many pakistani born desis, many living in pakistan who are confused about theri culture and heritage, and no, burgers are not the only ones.

down to the damn topic.. the ‘confused’ of ??? Born Confused Desi itself is very confusing.. the problem is that the Pakistani soceity is a bit (if that’s an understatement) screwed up..
When one pretends to be too traditional he might be labeled as a FOB whatever outside, and since many Pakistanis now consider moving outside.. they decide to prepare for it.. << sounds a bit intelligent doesn’t it?
And on the other hand a guy who has no idea whatsoever that he is moving outside or whatever (even though Allah sets it all up for you), he still tries to be a bit Western just because he feels his status alleviated or he feels ‘modern’ in such a style..
^^ Now that is a PBCD I suppose..
By the way I think we should leave people to themselves as long as they’re in their limits > I went to Pizza Hut in karachi and their was this lady in niqaab trying to use american style English (she kept saying “you know” after her sentences ) < and some parts of the ‘traditional’ Pakistani society are just screwing..
An extreme traditional Paki may consider using a pop-up trash can as “denying your tradition” instead of throwing the garbage in the garden so it may become fertilizer, which it might necessarily won’t >> however the former is just an act of good manners and yes - *I am in fact saying that some of us can consider good manners as “out of place” *simply because they don’t have the knowledge < this is specially in ‘dehats’
So you see that my conclusion is that we live in a somehow screwed up society as of yet..
