Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?
I used to think Reema was from Nepal but then she proved her Pakistani-ness last time she was at a Choda August mela here in Amreeka. She was supposed to do a dance and it was well publicized by the promoters to attract thurkees like myself. So, we pay $5 entry fee and listen to the stupid 'local talent' for two hours before Shehzadi Reema Saahiba blesses us with her supreme presence on stage. She holds the mic and talks endlessly how unique she is. And then walks off the stage smiling in full glory.
This really pissed a group of guys who had made it from the samosa chaat stalls to near the stage in no time when Reema walked in. Luckily, Abrar was there and he took over the situation with some loud bhangrra music.
We later found out that Reema refused to dance because it was a 'Mela crowd'. At first I thought she is calling the audience 'mela' or dirty. But she actually didn't want to dance in front of people who had only paid $5 for admission. (This is what I was told by an organizer,,,,so I don't know how much truth there is to it). But the point Reema proved was that she is a stuck up, self absorbed, unethical and unprofessional actress. Thus she proved to be a Pakistani. I rarely see good Pakistanis. Why?
