Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

I don’t get this really.

In a country that boasts of talent like Ali Azmat and Junoon, of great bands like Strings, etc etc, of AWESOME fashion designers, of really elegant AND smart models (really, most models are airheads, but most of these girls really aren’t)…

AND furthermore great political role models, great social workers, etc…

Why is it that the film stars are “representing” Pakistan?

  1. They’re not that educated.

  2. They’re not tactful in their talk - they don’t know how to manuever with their words.

  3. They’re not too graceful or talented, frankly. Hard-working, yes, absolutely. Talented? Not most of them.

  4. They’re not even respected in our own country.

Okay, so THIS makes me wonder ONE thing. Why is it that Meera is the only actress of today to carry off an Indian movie as the MAIN CHARACTER?

Why is REEMA getting to be a UN ambassador?

I don’t understand this really. You have Shaan, who is a really versatile actor, and he could even give Shah Rukh Khan a run for his money. Yet no Indian movie picked HIM up. Even Moammer Rana, who can be a damn good actor when he is under good direction, got a mere supporting role in Dobara.

Then when you look at the females, the only ones that can actually act and have some grace are - well, Resham - her acting in dramas is incredible. And she does her job well.

Reema - I have a lot of respect for her - but she just never was under good direction, and I dont think she has the natural ability to act. She always overacts. She couldn’t even carry that rice commercial off on her own. She looks like a total dunce. Maybe she’ll be better as a director/producer, since she’s making her own movie. But, really, she doesn’t have the natural talent to be a convincing actress.

Frankly, neither does Meera. And Meera, above everyone, is the skankiest and most controversial of film stars.

So, to sum it up, ladies and gentlemen, I think India knows we have great talent, but they showcase our worst so as to make us look bad.

Also, I don’t know who is out there choosing UN ambassadors, but they have no clue what they’re doing, or what it takes to be a UN ambassador…

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

haha great post!

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

All the good occupations are going to weirdos these days.

Reema won't be the only ambassador from the entertainment industry. Angelina Jolie is alreay a UN ambassador.

Similarly, Arnold Schwarzenegger was doing fine in the entertainment business, but he somehow managed to get himself into politics and became a senator (or whatever his position happens to be) in the US.

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

They along with uneducated and ignorant producers/directors have ruined our film industry since early 80s. Pak film industry is dead and NO these illitrate women don't represet our culture or our nation. They will always be recognised as 'Heera Mandi' production. They DO NOT represent our women nor our films represent our culture.

Problem is Pakistan is going International these days. Trying hard to make an impression in the world's market as a liberal and progressive society. All these naked (almost) fashion shows and vulgarity on media is to promote Pakistan in such way. The WAY India used a decade ago to come into limelight.

Musharraf has no Idea (nor the most of the world) that a nation can progress without taking off its clothes or compromising on its cultural value. Ata Turk missed that point, so is Musharraf.

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

I think it’s the other way around… our good actors won’t give a hoot cuz they’re doing well in Pak as it is.

Did it ever occur to you that these no-good mediocre actors would be the ones with more time on their hands and with a despondent need to get more publicity and hence they’d jump at any opportunity to showcase their pathetic talents in vain.

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

well! let me say somethin hERE.

dear PCB, the indian film industry(bollywood) is big 'n full of talent, that we dont even have to think of any one from any other country. and i dont think that pak film actors are that popular on international world, & i dint even knew that pak have a film industry

            the singers/ bands from pak is very popular in india 'coz they are talented;

that tells u we appreciate good artists.

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

i agree... i think if these actress want to represent pakistan then why copy these indian and american ppl.. why not represent in a proper way. i mean they can still be popular by wear clothes!

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

i agree. half dressed women wont help pakistan get anywhere.

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

Its not that they're half-dressed that's such a problem as is the fact that they're uneducated and utterly classless!

Arfaz, so you're another Indian ey? Shoo.

Umar Talib, I slightly disagree. Noor Jehan's granddaughter is doing the main role in Taj Mahal - she's not being promoted HALF as much in the press as Meera is being promoted for her movie, or Reema for doing a dance or two at the Indian awards ceremonies.

Do you notice also that its Umer Sharif they bring in for the awards shows to do the comedy. Now don't tell me he's not busy. But, despite his good work, he usually comes across as less classy than Moin Akhtar. Why aren't the Indians inviting Moin Akhtar to come and do comedy talks in the awards shows? He's way more educated, he's got more class, his humor is more refined and subtle. You'd think for a crowd of Indian film stars, who are for the most part educated and refined, you'd want to send educated and refined people to rep Pakistan.

Likewise, numerous people from the TV industry have gone and worked in India a bit here and there. Again, the attention is not as much as this one Meera got for smooching some Hindu!!!!!

And did she ask for that smooch? No, it was part of the script. So who was intent on embarrasing Pakistanis, really?

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars…?

We can argue on that. One of your leading director/actress/producer and a major music director is on record saying something to the effect that “India has totally run out of musical talent”. The actress has even said so far that goin to Pakistan for music has to be the nly choice.

Indeed, major Indian hits THIS year have been made by Pakistanis – or people of Pakistani origins. Let’s not start taking names now. No other countries, huh???

Someone recently told me that gay director of yours who makes 50-crore-waali-cheesy-emotional-films says that he’s run out of acting talent so that he has to REPEAT all his actors one film after another. Links can be arranged.

Abdundant talent, limitless creativity…are you in a better position to judge that or these key players from your darned industry?

You’re right, our music is the best, the actors haven’t really been given an adequate platform to perform. I know for one thing that they r more good lookin than most Indian actors, which is understandable considering their origins.

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars…?

so pcg you dont like us here:(

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

Not the Indian muslims who act like proud roosters and look down upon Pakistanis.

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars…?

if furiously copying every western movie and paki songs is called being talented, than certainly india is the most talented nation in the world.

[/QUOTE]

i agree, 'coz of the origins people there may be lookin, but i have seen "Madhuri dixit& aishwaria ray of pak" i dont think they were...

the fact that u people know a lot about indian film indusrty itself tells its popularity world over, hardly anyone here ll know a lot of artists from ur industry.

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars…?

X-cuz me!!!

as long as u dont accept creativity, how do u expect to grow in art,

make a place to stand first, then start criticising

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars…?

wat sort of a complex is that!!!

anywayz who z bothered

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

Its the complex apparently that you have. Now Shoo.

Run along to some Mother India internet discussion board. What are u doing in a Pakistani one? And that too, in the Pakistani entertainment section?

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

yeah arfaz, run away and dont ruin pcg's lovely discussion on how bollywood hires only the worst pakistanis to project a negative imagine of pakistan. speaking of complexes...

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

How do you guys feel when you see Paris Hilton on TV? Do you see her representing US? Or other celebrities doing that for their respective country? With Miss World and Miss Universe?

I hope Reema gets to feed some poor kids with the UN.

Re: Pakistan being Represented by Film Stars...?

Then Queer, do you seem to think that Meera was a good choice - and that too by some Ace Producer in India? If he's so Ace, then how come he didn't see what I saw? An actress with an attitute problem who seems to think some cleavage makes one into a good actress?

Oh but wait, we're talking about India, where actresses even today do not have roles of substance. They're only expected to shake their ass a bit to get people to come out to the theatres.
