Much as I disagree with a lot of what Musharaf has done, I don't think you can blame him for taking over initially. The blame for that must rest with the "elected" Prime Minister and the idiots that were advising him.
Need I remind of you of the animals that attacked the Supreme Court? Can you think of any other country where the "elected" government would approve of such an action?

I am all for removing crooked armymen, as long as he same fate is handed to all crooked politicians, bureaucrats, technocrats, and other political heavy weights liek sardars, vaderays etc etc.

I agree, you cant use this language against all general officers, there are very good, professional and completent and honest officer in the same rank so please dont tarred all with the same brush.

And what do u plan to do after that? This country will go to the dogs the moment its military becomes weaker. The other choice is even worse in the form of elected, corrupt, condemned thieves who have been looting this country for generations and somehow they feel it is their right to do so.

Corrupt polititions can be replaced in Elections, but how do you replace a General? The only way is to get Democracy working in Pakistan.
Unfortunately, the world will keep backing the Generals because they worry that Pakistan will be taken over by the religious / extremist group (even in elections) & the Bomb might be handed over to Osama Bin Laden.

Democracy is a nice word in the dictionary but unfortunately in Pakistan it has led to a sytemitized elected corruption. You cannot contest an election in Pakistan unless u happen to be corrupt, manipulative and filthy rich. I am not in favour of generals either but it seems they are the lesser of the two evils and may be a better alternative at the moment until some genious figures something out out.

perhaps this is off-topic...but what is the standard means of "extra" wealth accumulation for corrupt army officers in pakistan?
a friend of a friend is the son of a wealthy actively-serving pakistani army officer. this guy was living in a very posh apartment in central london and spent his father's money very freely on all kinds of luxuries. i remember one time when he was buying everybody very expensive drinks at a club and i thought to myself....assuming they didn't win some lottery, how does an army officer's son afford this kind of lifestyle?
apparently his family is not particularly prominent or historically wealthy. the mutual friend said something about army officers profiting from real estate deals. i assume he was referring to landgrabbing, but i'm not sure.

True, but they are now in the minority. Most who join, and serving Generals are more interetsed in money than 'professional' matters.

Good and bad are everywhere,
In a family one brother joins Army and second WAPDA, if the later has a license for all kind of corruption, misuse of powers and authorities how can we assume that the first one is immune to these diseases. Still if you see the ratio, the amount of corruption in the army is far lesser than other departments and the reason is the high standard of discipline, training on professional as well as moral aspects.

There are many generals who get the allotment of 100 plots at a time. ab FOJI BHAI, FOJI BHAI chhor dayein.
sirf itna hi bata dayein ke duniya ke kisi mulk main ayesi badmaashi hoti hai jaisi yahan foj karti hai.

Khan sahib, army ki corruption chhupi hoti hai, zahir nahin hoti. Jabkeh doosrey mehkamon ki corruption zahir hoti hai. Lahore Defence main aik general pakra gaya jis ke account se Rs. 3.5 billion baramd huye. HAI KISI AUR MEHKAMEY MAIN ITNI BARI CORRUPTION AUR WOH BHI SIRF AIK AADMI SE.
Siyasat danon ne aur doosrey mehkamon ne 60 saal main itni corruption nahin ki jitni in fojiyon ne in 7 salon main ki hai.

You can take the example of India, it is correct that there is corruption but there is also democracy, and in the result of democracy, India is going very strong economically. There the percentage of economic groth is more than 7.5% and that is the result of democracy of 60 years and in these 60 years there is no part of army rule.
Pakistani dastoor main yeh waziaah likha hai keh elected prime minister ko hataa kar mulk per qabza karney waley kisi bhi general ki saza daffa 6 ke taht saza-e-mot hai. Kya aap log samajtey hain ke aain bananey waley NASAMAJ thay.
Agar foj ki khakummat itni hi theek hoti to phir American aur Europe aur UK aur doosrey countries main foj ki khakummat kyun nahin, wahan pe democracy kyun hai???

If a secular minded does same, its not ok!
Now if a religious minded one kills Mushraf and takes over the Govt,

You retire them and then they disappear. Elections are for nations who have sense and understanding of issues. In Pakistan they are a means of forwarding agendas of caste, bradri and corruption. What happened to democracy when Bibi and Nawaz Sharif were elected twice? Where was the economic situation of the country what were the F/X reserves?
