I find yesterday's Nawaz Sharif interview a very bold one. He has pledged to investigate the Mumbai incident together with Indian investigation agencies and bring culprits to task. Great.. if he can do it. It can go a long way to bring stability to the region and our relations with India.
One thing is for sure.. Nawaz Sharif is not willing to go along with army establishment's perceived Jihadi agendas. I don't know how army establishment will take this statement specially at this final election moment. He may lose the election on this through some army establishment intervention.. we call secret hand in our country.
He has given a strong message to the army establishment.. that if he comes in power he means business. He is not going to compromise and fall in the trap of games our army establishment is so fond of playing.

That was one of the reasons he was removed last time around. He opened dialog with India after Benazir's government's cold shoulder to diplomacy with India.

Now if he thinks Pakistan and India are one country, then he can go to India for all I care.

It would have been very easy for him to make a deal with the establishment like BB did with her NRO.. and come to power with a compromised stance. looking at his popularity and dismal PPP performance establishment would have gone all the way with him. He has not done it.. and taken a huge political risk by not towing their line.
We realizes army needs to be controlled in all this mess. They can not carry on double games in the present day world scenario.
I find the NS stand as bold and visionary.. although very difficult to execute knowing the past history of the army. At least he is showing that he is not willing to compromise for petty political gains..
Pakistan and India are not the same country. They neither share the same culture, nor the value system.

Religion is not same as culture, and Pakistanis and Indians are essentially the same people minus the religion. Btw, what do we have in common with Arabs other than religion?

I am not here to defend Nawaz Sharif or his past. I do not subscribe to a person in totality. I would not follow a person like a cult follower. If Nawaz Sharif is saying he will investigate Mumbai incident which has not been probed properly and is one of a big factor in distorting image of Pakistan.. I appreciate his statement.

This part is quite bold, and especially sharing it with india, but frankly I don't believe him.
The difference is how they said it. Btw, recently I read an article by Pervez Hoodbhoy on Dawn and he was basically making the argument that 2 nation theory was outdated, and irrelevant concept now & frankly I agree with him. It was pretty similar to Zakir Naik’s argument here.
We do not mingle with Hindus but we can live side by side in harmony. Here in the west we live together.
Agreed, merging with India is one thing and living side by side (with peace) is another. I think most Pakistanis would agree to the latter. I am of the firm belief that we need good relations with all our neighbours espcially Afghanistan and India.
