Following the current trends in the US and Afghanistan the idea of having the “moderate” Taliban join the political process is gaining ground. A policy which Pakistan has been espousing for a good year now. With the Obama Administration not sure how to handle the arrest of the Top Taliban Commander it is only safe to assume that they have doubts about whether killing him would actually be beneficial.
In addition if the trends in the London Conference continue Pakistan should see its role and importance in Afghanistan continue to increase with the eventual pull out of NATO troops in a year or two.
In that regard how should China and Pakistan use their extremely strong relationship to Stablize Afghanistan and bring it under their sphere of influence? Additionally what should be done to ensure the elimination of Indias already waning influence on the matter?
haha why do you keep rubbing salt on their wounds! Let them glorify their stand in world affairs the way their glorify their place in world cricket! :roll eyes:
The last time US ran away leaving a big mess. This time the technique is to bribe and run. Lets see, how will they uplift afghanistan from the dark ages this time.
Great news for Pakistan now they can do/treat their Afghan brothers they same way they have been for the past 30 years. They are open to push their own agenda.
India hardly had any clout in afghanistan, for the past decade and even now. But, India is facing emotional atyachaar (atrocity) right now from US and UK.
Let the great games begin.....
Pakistan was handed a pathetic face saving gesture in London. Are you guys so insecure that you'll take it as something to be proud about? India being in Afghanistan building roads and schools is something you guys should be welcoming.
BTW - if you really think it thru, this is 'front line state in WOT phase 2". You know well what happened to Pakistan in phase 1 of being FLSIWOT.

India should be concerned about developing its own country. Charity begins at home and 90% of India's populations is deserving of charity.
It is not as if India is doing al this from the god of its own heart. You should read up why India wants influence in Afghanistan. You should read the history of how Afghanistan pre-1979 was used by India to create trouble in Pakistan. Now an anti-Pak government has taken over Afghanistan again you wonder why there has been a huge jump in violence in Pakistan's western regions. There are some genuine grievances there but if terrorists can crom from Pak to Afgh then what will stop them do the reverse?
if after all the proof about Pakistan's home grown terrorists and religious extremists causing all the violence inside Pakistan, if you still think India has anything to do with that, you are only fooling yourself.

Wow, I can't believe someone can be THIS misinformed. Pathetic saving gesture? When will you realize the strategic position Pakistan has in the South Asian region. The US NEEDS Pakistan, otherwise it will suffer yet another humiliating defeat. No one knows the landscape of Afghanistan like the Taliban do and the Pakistani army is the second best resource to consult regarding this confusing landscape. Countries invade Afghanistan only to realize that man, this is hard stuff! That's why the Soviets left and that's the US is busy scratching its head wondering what to do. Pakistan is their ONLY hope!!!
As for India building schools and roads in Afghanistan...hahaha you've got to be kidding me!! Why don't they focus on their OWN roads and schools like thejoke mentioned. The whole country is a mess!! They put up this image of Indians becoming rich and famous, while hiding the sheer poverty, illiteracy and discrimination that is rampant in the country. It's such a facade...
The funniest thing is when they claim to be the next super power after the US...Indians are followers, not leaders. They imitate, they don't innovate. So please snap out of this mentality and see things for what they are. India is trying REALLY hard to make its presence felt in Afghanistan but the bottom line is that the US doesn't need them Indians...they need the Pakistani army and they are beginning to realize how badly they need their help! And the ball is in Pakistan's court...I just wish we still had Musharraf to show good leadership...but I have faith in our army!

You really think the world is so black and white right?

Unfortunately, still people like you think in todays world; super power means to have muscle power. India has never claimed to be a super power, India is working hard towards it. India is a part of the rapidly growing BRIC group, Brazil, Russia, India, China. Please read about what Goldman and Sachs has writes about these countries. India is a part of G20 countries of the world. India is not a part of G20 coz India has utter poverty, illiteracy and whatever. Country with most millionaires, India is in top 10 countries of the world. Fastest growing number of millionaires in Asia are in India at the rate of 22% and China at 20%.
And all this has happened from 1990.
Lets talk about numbers, rather than using fluffy words and adjectives like hunger, poverty. India has that, but India is marching forward as well.
If you make fun of India and say its a facade, I think you need some good college education.
just becoz a person can write or speak in english does not mean that a person is educated. Beggars on the street lights of UK and US can also write and speak in english.
After Soviet collapse, India hardly had any influence in afghanistan and still does not have.
You are more than welcome to help Afghanistan in their reconstruction.
What has Pakistans contribution towards afghanistan been? All Pakistan has given afghanistan is Death and Destruction.
Ask any guy walking on the streets of Kabul, what do they think of Pak fauj and policy of pakistan towards afghanistan? Any educated paksitani will know how much an average afghani loves or thinks of pakistan.

Stop pulling numbers out of your arse. India ain't going anywhere till it caters to its middle class. that's the problem with you people....you think oh increase in millionaires = growth and development. Are you kidding me?? Ever taken intro to economics?? it's the middle class that makes the nation move forward...and when there is rampant discrimination, corruption amongst the rich and wealthy, NO accountability, and yes extreme poverty. The rich might be becoming richer using their own illegal ways but the distribution of wealth is extremely uneven. No one is doing anything to combat poverty. The rich live in their own bubble and really could care less about the millions of poor living in despicable conditions. A recent study showed 40-45% of indians are living in poverty!!
And where did I say english is the criteria for success?? Yeah that's why the Chinese and Japanese have advanced so much right??
As for Afghanistan, Pakistan doesn't owe anything to Afghanistan ok?? If anything the Afghanis owe a LOT to us for having used our country and abused it to death. Pakistan had every right to defend its borders but thanks to Zia, our borders got infiltrated and drugs and klashinkovs became a common thing. so no we don't own ANYTHING to afghanis!

Ohhh! you sure know how to rub it in.. :D But thats where things are heading, ah! the new twist.. good taliban --v-- bad taliban and I wounder who is gona be the ugly taliban.. LMAO... amreeka and its spin masters!...

Lets stick to the discussion. FYI, India is growing because of its middle class, the values that its middle class has. Its because of the growth of the middle class, Indian is growing. India's middle class is more than 170 million more than half of US population. The numbers quoted by me are the numbers stated by Mckinsey and Goldman and Sachs. The McKinsey Global Institute, the consulting firm's independent economic research arm, projects India's middle class will grow from 583 million people in the next two decades. At the same time, the country will advance from the world's 12th largest consumer market to the fifth.
All these new millionaires are rising from the middle class. Just two examples, Sunil Bharti Mittal, founder of Bharti enterprise $30 billion market cap, started selling telephones on scooter. Narayan Murthy founder of Infosys, founders of naukri.com, shaadi.com, there are so many and all these come from the middle class. Even India cannot stop the growth of India, reason because of its middle class and values of its middle class AND thats true for any country.
^ these people don't like hearing about the good side of India. They're only interested in talking about lack of toilets.
Because their motivation is not to improve their country but to just not have to admit their problems.
Take this Afghanistan thing. They cannot digest the fact that India is investing and donating billions to Afghanistan in developmental aid. So what do they do? they run it down as subterfuge on India's part to gain influence there.
Why do they not understand that if things get better in Afghanistan, their own borders become peaceful?
Yeah a pathetic facing saving gesture. LMAO! Talk about Taliban style brainwashing.
I am still wondering why Indians care so much for Afghanistan when it isn’t a priority for them? But don’t worry. We will do our best to make sure Afghanistan is fine. You lot need not worry. They are in much better hands now.
India’s concern about Afghanistan is related to security in the region. The support Talibani ideologue has given to terrorists operating the region is their primary concerns. It has not forgoten the support given to the hijackers of the IA flight. Some of the terrorits who were released then have bitten Pakistan too but that is topic for any discussion. For now India has to make sure that such ideologue does not come back to Afghanistan.
And if the past few days are any indications, Talibans are coming out of woodwork in Pakistan … another one bites the dust … DAWN.COM | Pakistan | Maulvi Kabir arrested from Nowshera: US TV. Though this hasn’t been confirmed by Pakistan, so we can still call it propaganda … like last time
Interesting isn't it that all these top leaders are arrested after Pakistan's view point is accept and the Taliban maybe considered part of the new government?
All of a sudden all these leaders are caught so quickly when the US government is willing to deal with the Taliban?

Too much of a coninkidink if you ask me,
They have been "sold" or have been "accomodated" ...... only time will tell !!!
Ofcourse Afghanistan is priority of India, Indian Govt may want to circumvent pakistan for any energy pipeline. Route it from Afghanistan-Iran than Afghanistan-pakistan.
Pakistan is in control and in fact has been in control over Afghanistan since Zia’s days. India never was in control, so please get over this paranoia.
As far as “better hands”, I think an average Afghani should be asked that question.

YG. You are a reasonable person.
Should we not point out the fallacies of our current regimes instead of defending their lies and follies all the time?
You say Indian gov would route pap-line from F-ghanistan to Iran. But then what? Take it by air to Bombay?
Do you even know that Indian gov has already and fully capitulated to the US demands on Iran? And that's precisely why IPI got shelved.
And before an Af-Iran papline works out, there will be one called IPI. But it ain't happenin until the permission from uncle sam comes to the Delhi mahals.
Sure Paks have messed up in F-ghanistan and at least the reasonable people in Pak accept that.
On the same vein, Indian gov too have messed up in Af and I sure hope some Indians would at least say that "Indian gov policy needs to be updated".

Is it too much to ask?
You are right. As far as India is concerned, govt of india has screwedup policy in Afghanistan. Personally, if any pipelies come to India from central asia, I want it to come via Pakistan. Only commerce and trade and mutual dependence can bring peace to the region.
