i feel sorry for them when they try to copy the blacks. same hairstyles, mannerisms ,gestures , figure of speech ,dressing the list goes on.
probably the insecurity within themselves so they find identifying with others a way to fit in. looking for some sort of identity in this mixed up world I suppose.
What do you mean by "victim"?
Certainly there are challenges to being between two cultures and parents/families should be conscious of this fact, especially when children are teenagers. However, I think being between two cultures can also be beneficial because it gives them perspective, and they can benefit from the positives in both. I think we need to "find ourselves," identify what we believe in and value from each culture.
I don't think we are categorically "confused" -- at least not any more than anyone else. :p
in many ways they are victims, they lose themselves in this 'group mentality'
when they lose theyre individualism they lose their true selves,
the cure would be confidence in yourself, you family and your beliefs, ive seen this scenario with many ppl and it just makes me sad how they are so easily malleable to anyone they are in awe of
they forget that they are just trailing abt in that persons shadow, that they have lost their true persona
im not saying all of them are like that, and i wouldnt just limit this to girls, there aremany guys like that as well
^What "group mentality" and loss of individualism are you referring to?
they shud get closer to Islam and parents shud be strict with the hijab issue....
they shud not be allowed to go out much....
I believe locking up girls in the basement Arm is illegal or should be.

how can you assume that they are not close to Islam? Or are any less close than a woman anywhere else in the world?

I hope this was meant as a joke because it's one of the funniest things I've read in a long time.
Absolute codswallop.
People have a problem fullstop.
And I can't help but laugh at armmy.
I think children in Pakistan are greater victims to conflicting cultures. One where they live in but find it inferior and the other which they have only seen through media or on a months summer vacation and are so desperate to be a part of. They are bigger screw ups.
I dont think anyone is a victim, its the influence of the culture, invironment of the place where you live. Of course a girl raised in the west will not have the same level of thinking, values as someone who has raised in the east.
I dont think anyone is a victim, its the differences in the culture which defines our habbits and our manners, so what was the question again...

When you use the word "level" it sounds like one is better than the other (Levels are used to compare high and low)... I don't think you meant that? or did you? they have different perspectives and values as a result of the experiences and environment.
Re: Paki Girls.
I dont understand. First of all I dont think Pakistani girls are victims of anything like this at all. Say if they are: What about the guys ?? Why are we picking on girls only? ![]()
It all depends on how any certain individual can handle differences in culture. I have seen people getting raised in the US with very good religious values and at the same time, people raised in Pakistan, who have not so good morals and raligious values. I dont think its the people living in the west at all. Its an individual trait in my opinion ![]()

hahaha, I have seen more desi guys acting ghetto than girls. It's more prevalent for teens who grow out of it after high school. Also, it isn't only desis ... haven't you seen white people acting/thinking/believing they are black?
Re: Re: Paki Girls.
Because the post is titled “Paki Girls”…. on a second thought…. some guys might fit in that category (willingly or unwillingly), so after all your confusion might be valid…

by group mentality i mean they change themselves to fit in with others, they lower their standards and lose confidence in what should be the most important issues in their lives
and Sahar, i dont mean all girls are like that, but alot of the desis that i have come across are - over here, if you take note, they dress the same, clotheswise/makeupwise/even their shoes jackets and the way they speak
theyre suckers for alot of rubbish, their blinded by things that only exist in their imagination and their eyes are blinkered to what going on in reality
i can go on and on, but there are loads of these kind of issues, and not just in the desis
^ Sure lots of people are like that. But is it only desi girls in the West? I think that mentality can apply anywhere... I've definitely seen it in Pakistan (perhaps more so).
I don't see how being desi in the West plays a role.
And Senorita -- when you said "Pakistani girls in the West" did you mean desi girls who are born/raised in the West? Or those who come over after having grown up in Pakistan?
Are you writing a paper for school? sounds like it. I am not gonna give the answer then..khud say kaam karo ![]()

its not only girls that are like that, and not only in the West are they like that either,
anyhow, i havent spent a great deal of time in Pk so i cant really comment on that
i think being desi in the West does play a role, alot of these ppl are those lowlifes who ruin the image of pakistanis and muslims alike, its anoying bcos they cant find the line btwn cultural reasoning and religion

that will not solve the problem.
this is fact they live in a western society and face strict rules inside the house.
they should be allowed more freedom and discussion among family memebers. its challenge for them as they grow up in this scenario.
hijab cant solve the problem if its worn just as restriction without convincing them with arguments.
here i have observed, people with strong family values + get proper attention of parents who discuss not just order. they develop into very nice and good combination of east and west.
others who are advised blindly to do this you shoudnt do this. etc etc.
end up in confusion and adopting dual life without proper guidance, some take refuge going more relegious and some go for other extereme sadly.
