What do you mean by "victim"?
Certainly there are challenges to being between two cultures and parents/families should be conscious of this fact, especially when children are teenagers. However, I think being between two cultures can also be beneficial because it gives them perspective, and they can benefit from the positives in both. I think we need to "find ourselves," identify what we believe in and value from each culture.
I don't think we are categorically "confused" -- at least not any more than anyone else. :p

sahar,
Victim in this topic means what someone wants can not get it.
Because of the limitations paki girls have in both cultures,
while they are living in the west.

And Senorita -- when you said "Pakistani girls in the West" did you mean desi girls who are born/raised in the West? Or those who come over after having grown up in Pakistan?

or maybe parents should try to teach the virtues of hijaab and explain exactly why its important rather than dictating them to wear hijaab. Logical explanation/replies often convinces majority of the people. what good does it do if a daughter wears hijaab fearing her dad? may do some good in short run (till he breathes?), certainly not productive in the long run.

and when i say parents shud be strict on the hijab issue why do u all just assume that i meant they shud carry a stick and beat their daughters to near death if they dont wear hijab???
i thought u were intelligent enuff to realize that i meant the girls shud be made more aware of what hijab is and why its necessary…
and why shud anyone find a problem with girls not going out alone much???
its safer for them that way…
and parents can make sure they dont fall into bad company…
or that they wont be vicitmized by ‘strangers’…
and all those who found problems with my first reply, plz WIDEN UP YOU MINDS and dont be so close-minded…
for once, realize the facts and get out of ‘hijab means oppression’ and ‘chaar-diwaari’ means jail…
and all those who found problems with my first reply, plz WIDEN UP YOU MINDS and dont be so close-minded....

Perhaps then you shoud try and re-phrase it. As you might have noticed almost everyone took it in a different way than that you (now claim) to have meant.
"they shud get closer to Islam and parents shud be strict with the hijab issue....
they shud not be allowed to go out much
^This is exactly how u stated it, read it to urself.
Yep, I remember... same issue under a different title this time...

you'll see it again next week or a little later and same people will be replying..don't worry, they never get tired of degrading others coz you know what? they have really frustrating lives....ever seen a 70 years old widow/widower?? they're eXactly like that! :-)
i think girls in muslim countries are more messed up as they try to "copy" mtv or Ztv to over come their insecurities. girls in west are more open minded and acceptable to different culture and ideas while maintaining their own individuality, culture and beliefs.
and dont forget there are bad apples every where in the world :-)
armughal: girls forced to stay in their homes will only result in rebelion.
