having a girl friend and a wife are two separate things. girl friend obligations start and stop at me. she doesnt have to deal with or put up with family and all the crap that comes with it..likewise neither do i. it keeps the relationship free of all tension. whereas you guys already know the drama that comes when families get involved. its like a bunch of lions in a den all fighting over one bakree.

but, its also wrong to lie about expectations of a relationship. promises of marriage are childish to say the least. but, if you are upfront about it and make clear the above stated distinction then i see no wrong. and if u can pull this off after marriage then you got it made.

that’s the problem with desi families maybe…as they get all overexcited about marriage, they put toooooooooo much pressure on the poor young couples, and this leads to the whole “hidden fiance”/“hidden nikkah” thingie!

in my gori family, no tensions! anyone knows about gf/bf of my cousins/siblings, they are considered a part of the family well before marriage, and no one annoys them regarding marriage/children, it’s tension free! and couples tend to last long and love is all around

so for gori/gora like me and my family, this whole discctinction btw spouse/bf is NOT existant, the ONLY difference is “contract”, there is no sign papers btw gf/bf but they are in long term relationships (otherwise it’s called one night stand, or mistress/whore, lol)
