this is off topic, but i’m from kerala, and havent met anyone claiming turkish ancestry. arab, yes. and arguably so. muslims from kerala probably are as arab-blooded as it ever gets in the entire subcontinent.
in the local tongue, muslims are called “maplahs” or brothers-in-law. during the spice trade period, islam first entered the subcontinent in kerala with arab traders taking wives among the locals, and hence the name maplah. maplahs have distinctive attire and cuisine, which closely matches that of yemenis. maplah biryani is way different from biryani elsewhere in the subcontinent - much less spice.

Listen mate I don’t have any identity problems, I couldn’t careless about Pukhtoon heritage, to be honest with you I think Pukhtoon culture, heritage and language are the most boring, dull and greyest on the face of this earth, I may like the sound of the Rubaab and the looks of Swaati girls but other than that I see nothing about you to be proud of.
Why would I lie about my ancestry, and that too make it PUKHTOON? You’d think I’d go for sumfin a bit more cool and exotic? No?
The truth is that our people are a mix, maybe a bit of Punjabi, Pukhtoon even a bit of Kashmiri, African and Arab. Attock has been the conquered by different people, different races have marched over it so the people are a mix.
The problem is our tribes are patrilineal, even if we end up with more Punjabi blood because of the marriages with Punjabi women; they still trace their ancestry through the father’s side and retain their tribe names.
But I don’t care for Pathan or not Pathan, people who do are sad bostords who need to get out more, it doesn’t make you better in anyway, I know we’re different from Pukhtoons, I’m a Hindkoan and my language is Hindko and I’m proud of it, in fact even when somebody asks me for my tribe I always say my sub-clan name and not what we were a few hundred years ago.

It doesn’t make you better though; Jews always broke Gods covenants and rules and killed His Prophets (AS). Islam says that every nation was sent a Messenger, I think that includes India, I’ve read some articles on Hindu scriptures and a lot of the beliefs are similar to Islam, idol worship is an innovation and doesn’t have any scriptural basis.
Today it doesn’t matter both Judaism and Hinduism are invalid what matters is we are Muslim.
